The J Burney Crum stadium went through some renovations a few years ago and it is now a turf field.

I'm fairly certain Juniata players and coaches are tired of getting sand kicked in their faces.  It appears they have brought some horses into the barn that will allow them to go toe to toe with some of the conference's so called front runners.  After a year of fine tuning, the offense is ready to put some of those big Clydesdales in the harness and begin scoring some serious points.  Don't be surprised if you see a four or five win season for them this year.

Warthog, if you are talking about strickly numbers, you might be right, Juniata bought in their biggest recruiting class ever with over 40 new players. I am sure there are a few new bodies which can contribute and maybe help get a few more wins, but it is still a big learning curve adjusting to college football for most Freshman. The upper classman are bigger, stronger, faster and it usually takes a while to get adjusted to the speed of the college game.

I aggree with you BT, you know that old saying....any given day.....anybody can beat anybody, but i'm glad they are starting to rebuild. Also The Mules have to stay sharp for every game, because everyone wants to knock off the Champs.

splik

Let's hope the Eagles can do more than beat a school for the deaf this year.

BTEXPRESS

Splik, A little harsh but true.

BT et al,

Mules may have a field on opening night, 9/6, after all. work is moving really fast now....Mule AD is

cracking the whip and holding the line...........knows how to work a muleteam...................hold your breath

Murphy

Juniata brought in a whole bunch of new people.  But the decision makers still remain.

It will be interesting to see if the influx of players will make a difference.  Like BT I don't see a lot of freshmen cracking the lineup and if they do there will be a learnign experience.

I wish them luck.

Anyone want to bet that their first play is a run off tackle?

Negative karma?  I know how Murph feels now.

Murph
Let's hope those Clydesdales Warthog mentioned can open up some holes for that off-tackle play.

The limited action I saw last season had the Eagles having more of a passing based attack.  My hope for the season is that the Goal Post trophy remains on its extended stay in Huntingdon, PA after Week 2 when the Eagles face Susquehanna.

It might help if they worried less about sand kicking and more about blocking and tackling.   ;D

BT/OLD/GREEK,

Let's have your picks, thoughts about the oracle's selections and anything football since it is here....

scrimmages start this week....the real thing next.............life is beautiful

Murphy

Splik, nice to hear from you. I've given up on karma.

I really do wish Juniata well, the foolball players get it from all sides, on campus even the volley ballers rub it in their faces.

Go Eagles!!!

I hate to admit it, but I like your picks. I have the exact same order.

1. Mules ( on paper they have the most talent coming back and as defending
champs they deserve to start out on top again)
2. Dickinson ( although they lost a lot to graduation and there was some questions on QB Mitchell's health, he looked good in the intra squad scrimmage)
3. Hopkins ( I think they will be much improved)
4. Moaravian (Didn't get hit too hard by graduation)
5. Gettysburg ( The Bullet fans will expect more, but for some reason, I think they slip a little this year(
6.Ursinus ( have most of their skilled positions coming back)
7. F & M ( had a nice recruiting class, still a work in progress)
8. McDaniel ( Veteran Coach, can only go up)
9. Juniata ( Largest recruiting class in their history, should get at least a win or two more over last season)
