Pep,...greek must give us the scoop...i doon't know a thing about the mule saxon showdown in the

twilight zone (Binghamton)....but i am dying to get the story
s

Pep heard from a player today that the scrimmage was back-and-forth, pretty even, although it wasn't a scrimmage with "game conditions." Said player reported both teams were rather conservative in their play-calling. Some things looked good, other things need work.

That comes as a good report for Pep, as certainly the Mules are highly ranked and return much from their 11-1 2007 campaign. Alfred, meanwhile, has a lot of first-time starters taking the field this season.

It was pretty much what you said AU, they were not showing too much at all on either side, but i think the Mules will be ok, they just had too shake some rust off here and there but i think they will be fine. A very nice facility up at Binghamton Alumni High School Field....can't wait until Saturday......Hopefully the field will be done, from what i am understanding it will be a last minute decision, i think they will have to know by Friday, because if they can't play at Scotty Wood, then the time changes to 1:00 at the High School Field, and from what i'm hearing there has not been a lot of rain up there and the field is like concrete, so lets keep our fingers crossed the field will be done.

Go Mules !

Thanks, Greek...Pep has driven past the Binghamton H.S. field and drooled. Incredible facilities that high schools have these days.

I wanted to wait until  closer to the start before ranking the conference. Not really I was on vacation.

1.  Mules, But they will not be perfect in the conference this year.
2.  Moravian, The ABE teams rise to the top. Could be the team to drop the Mules
3.  Hopkins. The kicker can get long field goals and points are points
4.  Dickinson, lost a lot with the 2007 team and a Q-back cannot be the featured everything
5.  F & M, I put them here but really could also knock-off some of the teams above them
6.  Ursinus, just always seem to be missing something--last year they had to many fumbles
7.  Juniata,  Starting to get the right numbers for the right players. Could beat 3 conference teams this year
8.  McDaniel, Green wave is in low tide. ebb may start next year.

I was at a high school scrimmage for my Grandson in New England, Overheard a coach telling the boys, in a load voice,
" We are going to keep running this play till someone figures out who is not blocking the correct way". Told my son in law if the coach cannot figure it out this could be a long cold season.

Hey Muledaddy
not supposed to be too nice on Saturday in Mule Country, with a storm coming in....well that will be a real test for the drainage system on the new turf, but i still smell a victory against Wilkes !

Pep would like to see that happen as well. Pep is expecting a good competitive game and hoping that the band will carry the team. The band has been told it's good for 7 to 14 points per game for the Saxons....hoping the band will be that productive.

Just read the game notes for Juniata's game this Saturday against Allegheny. FOUR FRESHMAN have cracked the starting line up for the Eagles. So Despite bringing in the largest recruiting class in their history, it is proof that it is very difficult to break into the starting line up as a first year player even at the Division III level. If you check many of the game notes this week for all the schools through out the conference, you will not see too many Freshman starting or even at two deep. Hopefully Juniata's big class will add some much needed depth to compete this season. Still many unknowns as we begin the season with all the schools in the Centennial Conference.
