Good Morning All
I listen to the Pod-Cast every Monday Morning, i look foward to it every Monday Morning and you guys do a great job, but for some reason that i just can't understand is Salisbury and Wesley are mention every week, and thats really great for those schools but does anybody remember that Muhlenberg beat Salisbury last year and also gave Wesley a run for there money in the 2nd round of the NCAA's ? They went undefeated last year 10-0 and are 5-0 so far this year, they have been ranked 5th in Div.3 polls since the beginning of the season ! What does this team and the Conference have to do to get a little respect ???
I have heard for years that the Centennial Conference really isn't that strong but this team is beating teams outside the Conference, you guy's talked about on the Pod-Cast how good Union is this year.....Muhlenberg beat them this year.
I might be blowing off a little steam but i just think the facts are the facts, that this little old school just keeps beating teams and good teams at that..... and you guessed it.... not a mention.
You guys can rip me a new one if you like but i just think this had to be said and should be said.

GO MULES !!!

Creek, have to agree with you. Yes other conferences might have that ONE team that can go far into the playoffs, but I really think the Centennial Conference is very well balanced this year. After seeing half of the schools in the conference play in person, this season, the schools have really improved their quality of play. Most of the schools have improved their facilities which can only help with future recruiting. I look at a school like Washington & Jefferson who seems to steamroll through their confernce every year, get a high seeding in the playoffs and then have something happen to them in the first or second round of the playoffs. I truly believe it is because their conference is pretty week overall. We just need one team, be it the Mules again this year to make some noise in the playoffs and maybe the Centennial will begin getting noticed on the National scene.

Thanks for your response BT, i just had to get this off my chest .

I understand the concern and know that everyone wants their team/conference to get some love.

Since I have nothing to do with the Podcasts, I can only speculate, but I suspect that part of the reason Muhlenberg isn't getting mentioned as of late is because they're playing so well that things seem out of reach for everyone else in the conference (especially in a week where Junianta is the opponent).

The reference to Union was because Union surprised some people last week with a big win, and that's seeming to shake up the Liberty League race. For example, if JHU had beaten the Mules, the Centennial would probably be talked about a lot more on the national level because that would've opened up the race for the automatic qualifier. That's probably not the kind of publicity that the Mules or their fans would've wanted, but that's the kind of thing that gets the conference recognized and discussed and helps fuel playoff-picture discussions.

I do remember that the Muhlenberg/Johns Hopkins matchup was mentioned in the Podcast the week it took place, I think because it was a much closer game than people were expecting.

The other thing that hurts the conference is that no team besides Muhlenberg has fewer than two losses, which in this scenario, pretty much puts a Pool C bid out of reach for everyone. Of course, there is still some (unlikely?) shakeups that could occur, such as if F&M wins out, meaning they'd capture the AQ and leave the Mules with a likely Pool C bid. I guarantee there would be a good chunk of the Podcast dedicated to that if it would happen  ;)

I don't mean to play Devil's Advocate necessarily, but there are a lot of teams out there and a lot of juggling going on that can have some serious postseason implications. It's not a slight on the part of the D3Football front office, just an effort to weigh what races and games will have the most signifcant long-term affect this season.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Greekgeek: I think we talked about how Union put it together last week and upset somebody, how they were a couple plays away from being 3-1. They were not in the Muhlenberg game, of course. And we did mention Muhlenberg in the podcast when they played Union because that is an interesting matchup.

Salisbury and Wesley are important because they play a bunch of tough teams and they play each other. Muhlenberg's schedule isn't exactly setting them up to be important big news right now. What great non-conference games did Muhlenberg play? Who's the ranked team on Muhlenberg's schedule?

Muhlenberg is ranked very highly right now based on what they did last year. If you look at a computer ranking such as Massey which solely ranks on this year's resume, Muhlenberg is a lot further down: 19th once you take out the NESCAC schools that only play each other and skew the computers.

We already talk for about a half-hour every week. We don't mention every ranked team or else we could go on for hours. :)

Thanks for listening. We will definitely continue to keep an eye on the Mules, of course.

Ryan & Pat, Thanks for the well thought out responses to Creek. My personal point of view is that the whole conference is much improved top to bottom as evidenced by some of the scores this season. Maybe Creek and I are looking at it two different ways. For the past few seasons the Mules have been the torch barer for the conference. For a while, it looked like Moravian had a chance to go undefeated to set up a season ending show down with Muhlenberg which definitely would have had the D3 football world talking. Now that they have slipped some what,I think the fans of the conference would want the Mules to run the table to get the highest seed possible in the playoffs and hopefully the seeding committee would take last year's success in the playoffs into consideration when setting up the playoff brackets. Creek & Muledaddy, hang in there, because if the Mules run the table, you will get some "LOVIN'"
