Thanks for the heads-up on the Carroll County Times piece. Added it to the What We're Reading box on the front page.

Pat,

WOW
How many times have you seen a coach from Division 3 say that publicly in an article??

Coaching Keating's bio said he has one more child left at McDaniel in their senior year.  I'm purely speculating, but he wouldn't need the free tuition once the school year is over, right?

Mates,
Just landed in Western Maryland, home of the McDaniel Green Terror. There is a rather large slow, and annoying green fly in our  room, a likely source of terro to Mrs. Muledaddy; however, I am not terrorized, and don,t expect to be so. Maybe it was the jungle combat training of many years ago, or, more likely,
a vacation trip to the rainforest last year.If I could sing, it would be this verse of Mule Train(1949 frankie laine hit).....Muletrain,yeah,yeah.
Muletrain;clippety clopping along the mountain chain.
Seems as though they are gonna   reach the top,
                     clippety- clop,clippety clop....."
(I guess we will just  have to see if the song holds true, tomorrow.

I guess I hav e to go find a crabcake or 2, according to the boss
;time for dinner.

Mates,
on the cable tv here is  mule competition pulling sleds with weight on them, working in pairs.
It  reminds at me of our 300 lb offensive line running downhill....I hope our mules can pull tomorrow so
we can find a little running room and some protection for our little guys........this is pretty country, rolling foothills of the mountains and beautiful farmlands......nice for mule grazing....GO MULES

McDaniel is actually in the North Central portion of the state - 156 miles to Ocean City at the Eastern end of the state, 162 miles to Friendsville at the left edge of the state (24 miles to Gettysburg). The Western Maryland moniker came from John Smith, the first president of the board of trustees, who owned the Western Maryland railroad and stamped its name on the place Fayette Buell founded in 1867.

This explains much of the rationale behind the name change and the red caboose (stamped 1867) in the southwest end zone. The misconception is that the name change was because of a wealthy donor, which William R. McDaniel was not (he was long dead when the College took his name). The irony is that the original name - assumed to be geographical in nature - was actually the one that was a result of money changing hands.

Enough with the history lesson, my point is this: Do yourself a favor - have breakfast at Baugher's counter this morning (just down the hill from the field). Don't get there too early or the home fries will be undercooked.

Pizza,

Thanks.I didn't know from nuttin and now I could give a tour. Really, you are great. I accidentally found baugher's family rstaurant and produce stand (worlds best cider) last night and had dinner there,
instead of the glossy ad tourist trap Mrs MD wanted to travel to in town.......Yahoo...I can't wait to go back this am for breakfast, but last night's special, oysters, when eaten with corn fritters and stewed fresh tomatoes, followed by home made pie with homemade ice crem on it, makes me wish  I made the trip 2 yrs ago,, when my little Mule did not because he was an injured sophmore who didn't travel that week only.
coughed up big bucks for the name change to McDaniel, ala Ro), wan College (Glassboro/ and so many
others.Desparation and dollars breed whores. Finally, the Green Terror, the fly, is still here and winning in an epic struggle with Mrs MD..........GO MULES !!!

Old,

Nice picks. Some good games out there,,,dips nearly did it....eagles almost got the burg, ursinus hung in pretty well for will over a half.........and how about the Terror scoring first on the Mules(answered by 49 consecutive points, with 1st teaam reesting during the entire 4th qtr).......Mules seem to be improving their
pass coverage, a key for any type of playofff sucess...how about that Dutchmen-Pride game, an OT
thriller..........as predicted, the kicker was the difference in the hound survival.......Thank you for your
continued fine dedication and service to this branch of the d3 nation......keep pickin......
