Does anyone know when the list for The All-Americans comes out ?

CC12

Now that the second round is over, what do these playoffs say about Muhlenberg? Muhlenberg was a team who was ranked as high as second in the COUNTRY this season, but lost to Wesley 20-0 who then got spanked when they went down to Texas last weekend. I think Muhlenberg was a very good football. Not great, but very good. BUT, do these playoffs show that they were quite overrated by being ranked anywhere near some of the top 10 teams?

The D3football.com A-A list is announced during the Stagg Bowl pregame broadcast and will be posted on the site shortly thereafter.

The AFCA's list comes out sometime before the Stagg Bowl, though I don't know (or care) exactly when  ;)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Ryan
is that a little bit of a dig towards the AFCA's list ? or you really don't care about either list ? and thanks for the info.

That's a little dig at the AFCA. :) I appreciate that they put out the list and all of the players on it are exceptional players, but there are certain restrictions that don't make it all-encompassing. For example, no team can have more than one player on the list. Not to drink the Mount Union kool-aid, but I'm fairly certain that both QB Micheli and RB Kmic are worthy of first team All-American status, but only one is eligible to make the AFCA's list -- and only one it will be.

So the gold standard is the D3football.com list. ;D We just pick the best of the best without limitations.

CC To answer your question about the Mules, yes the second place ranking was on the high side. In all reality, there are 4 or 5 schools who have a realistic shot at winning a National Championship before the season starts. The other 200 some schools have no shot. Wait until you see some of this week's scores as well in the final eight and if history repeats itself there will be a few more blow outs. Before the playoffs started, I looked at the game notes for Mount Union. Looking at their roster and I saw they had 30 Freshman listed ( that's about average for most D III schools including the CC schools). Then on the next page was the FRESHMAN roster with 104 more players listed. The CC schools can NEVER compete with that. Most CC schools carry 80 to 90 players total. I think a successful year for the CC Champion would be to win a first round game in the playoffs, then maybe a second round with a little luck. Look at what happened to Wesley this past weekend against MHB. It is just not apples to apples when it comes down to the playoffs with an average D III program.

CC:
What BTE stated is true. All I am going to add is that between cost of admission and academic reguirements make it tough on football. Yes some of the teams in other sports do better, but overall football is not on the same calibur as other conferences. This not just for Centennial their are other as well.

Within the conference it is just good football. Year to year the top teams change as the seniors move on and the underclass players move up. The team that plays more underclass players will be the teams to beat. Overall this years top teams may not be there next year.

BTEXPRESS

Ends you are right, the CC is much improved from top to bottom. The football played this year was a good, hard fought, entertaining brand of football. It's just the conference does not have that one super team that can go far on the National stage. Look at Washington & Jefferson's conference, the PAC, I think the CC is a much better overall conference than the PAC, however, W & J made it to the D III quarter finals in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how the PAC does against the MAC when they pair the teams up against each other next season based on how they finished the season this year.

Throwthebubble,

I saw your post re Juniata and I echo youur feeling that  they progressed  throughout the season and showed marked improvement, being competitive in all games except the one on my birthday, Muhlenberg.[
If they can put a decent qb out theere next year, they will make the move to the middle of the pack, rather than the cellarI really expected them to pick up 1 or 2 more wins this year and they just caught a few bad bounces ii.e.overtime, weather......I like the kids and their committment. I hope they are fortunate enough to get the right head coach. The Mules were very lucky in that department when they hired Mike Donnelly.
On day one, he told all, he will put the best 11 men on the field at all times, no favorites, no class rules,
just an honest simple depth chart;everyone always knows where he stands, and why. Go Eagles.....
