Muledaddy, sorry, I forgot the Mules went to the second round last year. I don't think anyone questioned their top ten ranking in 2007 with only one loss. I think with two losses this season, it would have been hard to crack the top 15. Do I think being ranked 25th is a bit low? yes, as I stated above, you could make an argument from 15th to 25th and be right. Remember when picking all conference, all area, all region, all american, or a Top 25 etc, the picks are subjective and open to debate. At least they continue to settle things on the field in D III.

Just want to wish your son a speedy recovery tomomrrow, and the best of luck to you and the rest of your family in 2009, it was a great ride these last 4 years wasn't it ? A lot of wonderful memories, going to games to different parts of the country, wouldn't be doing that if these guy's weren't playing football, and also meeting a good guy like yourself.
So a toast to your son, and good luck to him after football, he is a fine youg man Muledaddy he will do great in the working world.
Also good luck for all next years teams in the Centennial Conference, it should be very competitive Conference.
And last but not least thanks to D3boards for letting me speak my mind every now and then.

I have some interesting Off-Season "drama" to discuss. I work with a former Gettysburg Bullet D-Linemen. We got to talking about CC football and he brought up Matt Flynn winning the 2009 CC Offensive Player of the Year. Now, Obviously being a dickinson Alum i put my vote out for Mitchell or O'Connor. My colleague went on to discuss what seemed to be a Phillip Rivers vs. Jay Cutler rivalry between these two quarterbacks. We have all seen the hatred between those pro-QBs but is it fair to say that just because Dickinson and GBURG are bitter rivals, that these two young men are also bitter rivals? That being said, I have never met Flynn or Mitchell but I heard from a friend who is now a CC official that Mitchell, like rivers and cutler, does like to smack talk while on the field. I am not an advocate of trash talking on the field, but could these be the source of why people see these two QBs as having a rivalry toward each other in addition to their teams? Or is it strictly because they are now the two seniors and top dogs in the conference at that spot. I am really curious to read everyones comments about this and to see other's view on talking while on the field.

CC12 To answer your question about Mitchell, off the field you will never meet a more polite, soft spoken young man than Ian. On the field he is a flat out competitor. I saw every game Dickinson played this season and I saw a few times when he was excited after making a big play. Does he trash talk?, I don't know, I am not on the field, he probably has on occasion. I think most great QB's are that way. Don't take this wrong, but I don't think he thinks of Flynn as being a rival at all. Their styles are completely different. I think the teams are rivals and don't like each other very much. As you know G'burg and F & M are the Devils two big rivals and games between those teams are circled on the calender before the season starts every year.

Mates,

Big Eagles win plus good news on the homefront...my boy went to  rehab and they cleared him to use 1 crutch and bear weight....his first shower since surgery was a big hit.....life is getting better ....faster...
but it will be a 4-5 mo haul for the whole deal.....his pre surgery rehab exercises helped..no quad lag detected at  initial pt eval......I can't put into words how good it felt to come home from work and see him
upright, after 4 and one-half days horizontal....and helpless....his mom was  a natural great nurse but I surprised myself with my efforts.....nothing is too much for a loved one...peace....

On topic, I don't think there is room for trash talking on the field...just do it..don't hot dog it....

greekgeek

Thats GREAT news about your son Muledaddy, so i guess he will be good to go for the Banquet ? About the trash talking, i would love to have a microphone down in the trenches once in a while to hear of what kind of trash talking really goes on, i think thats part of the game.

CC12

BT,

Thats a good thing to hear that a young man can be very polite and soft spoken and then when he puts the helmet on he can transform into such a competitor. Coach Breaux must be doing a good job over there. Does anyone know much about the new JC coach??

I'll second the notion that Mitchell is a reserved guy off the field. I interviewed him this past year, and he was great to talk with: smart and deflecting attention onto those around him.

I can't speak for his intensity on the field, but he's undoubtedly a stand-up athlete off of it.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.
