TGP's Dickinson game preview is up on gohobart.blogspot.com

Thanks for the preview on the Statesmen

My pleasure.  Good luck on Saturday.  Your Devils definitely scare us Statesmen fans.  You're a tough opening draw given Mitchell et al.

Muledaddy and Ends make sure you get your picks in today. I hope it is not a rainy sloppy day on Saturday. It seemed like almost every game last year was that way. I swore I was going to buy a decent RAINCOAT this season (Ha Ha). I don't mine a little rain, but I don't like bad weather to determine the outcomes of games like it did in several CC games last season.

Does Dickinson offer a webcast of their football games so we can watch online from home and if so, how do we go about getting it?  Thanks!

No just audio from both schools radio stations doing the game this week. Should be a good one though.

A little bit more about Hobart I posted on the LL board:

Game notes for Hobart/Dick are out:

http://hwsathletics.com/documents/2009/9/11/2009-0912%20Dickinson%20Game%20Notes.pdf

Some thoughts on the two deep listed (for what that's worth, its not always accurate):

Vella is the starter w/transfer Earl #2, so it looks like Rose from Victor isn't expected to play this year barring injury.

No Marlier or Schulz.  I hope neither have any significant injury.  Schulz is replaceable because all the other receivers came back from last year, so having Vincent, Muratori and Schetting as the top three  is still strong.  Sort of concerned about Marlier because I thought he was going to have a big year after he seemed to get stronger in the playoffs (even though his MUC stats may look light, he ran tough).

The #1 RB is Pat Julian, a spread QB at Sauquoit Valley two years ago.  He had a bunch of big rushing games as QB there (couple of 300 yd games), but last year he played slot and battled injuries.  Looks like he added a few lbs too, which is good.  Tritten is #2.  Surprised Julian beat out Tritten, but he must have earned it so I look forward to seeing what they both can do.

FB is Matt Howard over former starting OL Andrew Miller.  That spot is a ? mark.

On Defense, nothing surprising except maybe that FR Klindera isn't in the 2 deep at ILB.  I had heard good things about him.  One FR in the entire 2 deep, which is good.  I actually think the team D is going to be better than last season.  The front four has three returning starters and one DT who got significant time in rotation the last two years.  The OLB's are three year and two years starters (having Fernando Jones back after a year away is also good).  At ILB, Ill be interested to see what happens.  I think OLaughlin is going to blow up this year.  He had that strong rookie season and guys have come out of no where in the past like Hager as a JR and Hoffman as a SR.  Reggie Robinson is a talented and tough kid who was hurt a bit last year.  The secondary will be rock solid with three year starter Szymanski, Woodard and Kelliher (who I was a maniac on special teams last year and played a bit a safety in meaningful minutes).

The dickinson game is going to be tough and I think Bart's keys are controlling the LOS and having a rushing advantage.

Hobart fumbles on the Dickinson 10.

Dickinson driving to the Hobart 33, under 7 mins in the half;  2nd and a long 2.

Long gain...

Hobart holds on 2 and goal from the 2 and 3rd and goal, but Dickinson scores on 4th and goal from the 1.

89 yd drive by the Red Devils; 7-0  6:00 left in the first half.

2:14 left in the 1st half.

Hobart 25 yd FG from the right hash as time expires in the half.  Dickinson leads Hobart 7-3 at the half.

Ralph Turner

Dickinson's Ian Mitchell runs for a 21yd TD.  Kick is blocked. Hobart's Orlando Patterson ran the blocked kick back beyond midfield; 0:32 in the 3rd.  85 yd drive.  Dickinson leads 20-3.

Impressive win for Dickinson.  Hobart has a lot of issues to address prior to facing CMU next week.  Good luck to the Devils the rest of 09.

RedDevil4Life

Dickinson played a great game on both sides of the ball today. Might be one of the best games I have seen the Red Devils play in a while. Only bad thing was that Ian and Pat were not on the same page a few times. Great job Dickinson, keep the Wagon where it belongs next week.
