Hopkins has been playing a home night game on friday the last few years. Its a little harder for the fans that are far away but it has worked out so far. The teams they have been playing on friday are dickinson and gettysburg, I don't think it would work for the teams that are further away. The problem for me with a friday night game is having to take at least half a day of work to make the 3 hour drive and then either stay overnight or dirve back and get home at 2 a.m. Although the games are fun it is difficult for many of the fans.

Bubdad,

I'll agree Susquehanna has a beautiful stadium for night games, just don't schedule them for a Thursday night in August! Moravian opened the season there a few years ago on a Thursday night and kickoff didn't happen until after 9 p.m. due to some T-Storms.

Ugh, don't remind me... that was a looooooooooooooooooong night!

But for the record - there was a lightning delay in the opener between the two in Selinsgrove the year before, and that was a day game!

No offense to you Moravian folks, but I've been through some of the worst weather when we play the Greyhounds... two lightning delays and two hurricanes! yick.

And unfortunately for SU folk, at least 3 losses in those occurrences  ;)

You're trying to give me nightmares, aren't you?  ;)

Question: How does a QB go from being one of the best in the region one year to one of the worst in the conference the next?
With injuries and suspensions SU was in disarray on Saturday, hard to watch. Crusaders may have to go recruiting on campus at this rate. With all due respect to any followers here, F&M comes across as an average team to me.

My picks,

Hopkins
Gettysburg
Muhlenberg
Susquehanna

I was at the F&M vs. SU game.  While SU was injury depleted, the only reason they were ahead early in the game was because of F&M turnovers.

Defensively, the F&M front 7 pursues relentlessly though Susquehanna did a nice job running the ball on the edge and blocking down and sealing the corner for a few big plays.

F&M is most impressive in their ability to convert their 3rd and longs as they seem very comfortable in that offensive situation.  Having said that, it would be nice to see their running backs get fully healthy so that they can get more yards running the ball on first down and also be able to chew up the clock later in the game.

GoHop,

I think all your observations are dead on. Personally I would like to see someone else "step up" but as anyone can see by my pick'ems I like underdogs, favored teams bore me. Since your a Hopkins guy I can't help bringing up something that is sticking in the craw in Selinsgrove this year. The word is that JHU was less than thrilled about playing the Crusaders in Selinsgrove for Homecoming based on SU's success last year. That led to hard negotiations and a 4pm start time so the game would not be played under the lights as well. If true it's a shame as it turns out that the crusaders aren't much of a threat this year and Susquehanna has a beautiful stadium for night games.

SU has a beautiful stadium for day games too.  I was extremely impressed with the stadium and adjoining facilities.  I was not impressed with the $6.00 admission charge.  I guess SU did not get the memo when they joined the CC.

Be sure to read Ryan Tipps uplifting article in Around the Region.  I will be tuning in to Ursinus' next game to check out broadcaster Bern Gavlick.  Great piece, Ryan!

SU isn't the only one that charges an admission fee.

Didn't see any games this weekend, heard there was possibly some controversial officiating in the Moravian vs. Gettysburg. Not really sure of the specifics but just heard from a couple people that there were some questionable calls and/or no calls. It looks like the QB who they brought over from defense played fairly well again (completed 50% of his passes for 270 yards and 2 tds while running for 65 and another score). The score that surprised me a little was how bad McDaniel beat up on Susquehanna, I thought that game could go either way but looks like it was a completely one sided affair. Any insights on the weekends game, as always is appreciated.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

wesleydad

muledaddy, checking the schedules and the mules have 2 big home games left in the season.  wesley is off both weeks, so i am thinking that a trip to mule country could be on hand.  which game would you suggest i attend?
