Excuse me friend but Norwich was 6 and 4 and gained entrance n last year's tournament.I may have landed on my head a few times but I still have some degree of recall. Have a nice day.

That's because you don't understand how the playoffs work. There are 26 conferences (I think, might be 25) where the champion qualifies automatically, regardless of record. There is one spot (this year) reserved for teams in non-automatic qualifying conferences. And there are 5 spots reserved for at-large bids, in other words teams who don't win their AQ. If Muhlenberg does not win the CC AQ, then they need one of those 5 spots, which have NEVER gone to a team with 3 losses. They have, on rare occasions, gone to teams with 2 losses, but typically they go to 1 loss conference runner-ups.

So yes, a team can get in with a 6-4 type record, but not because they were "selected" over a 9-1 Muhlenberg. They get in because they are part of an Automatic Qualifying Conference, just like the CC teams.

Like he said, Norwich won the conference's Pool A (automatic qualifier) bid.

F and M will not beat Hopkins unfortunately Even if the Mules run the table and finish 9 and 1,they probably will not get into the tournament. There is not a great deal of respect for the Centennial Conference. You wil probably see a 7 and 3 team get in but not Muhlenberg. It will not make this old Mule happy but that 's the way it is.Have a great day and Airborne All The Way.
F&M is the last conference team to have beaten Hopkins so there's always a chance!
Regional rankings will tell us if any one else in the conference stands at chance at an at large NCAA berth.

What will hurt muhlenburg is cwru probably staying on the board til the 4-5th round on the table. Also the fact that Moravian has dropped off since a strong start to the season, and the week 11 match up with them doesn't look as impressive with having both teams at 8-1 fighting to finish behind JHU. But if hsu  loses to etbu then we will see where muhlenburg goes in the regional rankings

Good to see some activity on these boards!   8-)  Now, I've landed on my head several times as well so I am going to ask what is probably a dumb question.  Now that Salisbury lost and is a 2 loss team, how does that affect the Mules chances in getting the at large bid?  Saying that they defeat the Greyhounds, of course.

IMHO it doesn't hurt there chances, probably increases but still think they may be left on the table pending what else happens in week 11

You'll really want CWRU to lose next week to Carnegie Mellon.  Wouldn't hurt if WashU also lost and prevented CWRU from getting an RRO win as WashU is perhaps on the fringe of being ranked.  But the biggest obstacle right now for Muhlenberg is that they are behind CWRU in the South region.  Get ahead of them and the Mules have a shot.

Thanks for the clarifications.  Go Tartans!

If I can talk one or more of my kids to accompany me on Saturday, what is the best way for this D3 fan in Manassas, VA to make it to the game?  And more importantly, where would we park?

Good luck to both teams, safe travel to both fan bases.

Thanks for asking about this.  There's some parking information here at http://ts.jhu.edu/Parking/, but maybe the locals will provide better information.  I'm thinking about going from Fairfax Saturday and am also trying to convince my son to go with me. Might be tough.  I took him to the Stagg Bowl in 2000 and it was wet and cold.  Hoping for OK weather Saturday.  I think the route's pretty straightforward - just always worried about traffic on the Beltway and 95 North even on Saturday morning.

I live down the road in Odenton ... since 2010.
I am a Mount Union grad, so I was at the game yesterday.
Enormous (GINOROUS .. a new word that my kids taught me?) for JHU athletics, particularly football.  Watched the post-game media interview.  Some incredible young men there.  They gonna go on and do great things.  God bless them (and y'all) and wish them well.

But...   My medical insurance card says John Hopkins, but those educated doctors cannot figure out why I bleed PURPLE and WHITE?!

Corporal Hicks

Hooah!  Corporal Hicks here.  Ive heard some rumblings around Nick Palladino and John Feaster from Muhlenberg.  One of my guys in the Lehigh Valley heard they are both trying to make the NFL.  Any knowledge behind any of this?  Palladino who is my favorite Cent football player to watch has  some potential but I dont know about the NFL.  Rumor has it, Feaster had some sort of try out with either the Jets, or the Giants not sure which one.  Man isn't it great seeing these Centennial athletes push for their dreams of stardom?

Nick "Pally" Paladino has had multiple NFL workouts but I have been notified that he has received on offer from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His mother is a native of out neighbors to the North so I can see him joining the CFL and wish him all the best.
And on the eighth day, God created the Centennial Conference

Decided I'm going to spam every conference board with my preseason (non-returning-starter-adjusted) projections.

Team   Rating   Overall   Conference
Johns Hopkins   0.9715   9.1-0.9   8.3-0.7
Muhlenberg      0.9474   8.8-1.2   7.8-1.2
Frank & Marsh   0.7332   6.0-4.0   5.4-3.6
Susquehanna   0.6905   5.7-4.3   5.0-4.0
Moravian      0.6183   5.0-5.0   4.5-4.5
Gettysburg      0.5504   4.2-5.8   3.9-5.1
Ursinus         0.5388   4.2-5.8   3.7-5.3
McDaniel      0.3769   3.0-7.0   2.4-6.6
Juniata         0.3763   3.2-6.8   2.4-6.6
Dickinson      0.2707   1.7-8.3   1.7-7.3

Huge apparent dropoff in quality after JHU & Muhlenberg. Not sure how much each team is losing for returning starters/production, but I would like to see Muhlenberg get into the playoffs. Depending on how I weighted the importance of finishing 2nd vs. 3rd in conference, Muhlenberg was neck & neck with UWP for the last playoff spot last season. Would like to see them get in next year. Gotta be frustrating finishing 9-1 regularly w/o the opportunity to play in the playoffs.

UPDATE: I only had 8 conference games listed at first (glitch in my spreadsheet wasn't counting any conference games before Week 3).

Muhlenberg added former Hobart DC, Kory David, recently. While named "interim" DC, it also sounds like he will have some HC type responsibilities due to Coach Donnelly's battle with leukemia.

Wishing both the best going forward.
