Muchacho,

I couldn't agree with you more. However, the main reason they have given for the name change was because "Western Maryland" sounded like a state school out towards West Virginia, when it's a private school thats a half hour from Baltimore, and they felt "McDaniel" best exemplified that. Anyway, there has definitely been an attitude change since the name changed, but its only really been seen by the students who were part of the transition. With two long-time Deans and a Provost having retired in the past 4 years, there's definitely a new way of thinking in the McDaniel administration.

I can understand the name change to McDaniel solely based on location.  Western Maryland did make it seem like the school was near fFrostburg.  As for the new admins at McDaniel it doesnt seem like they are very active in the success of athletic.  We can all agree that most D3 football players wont play after college and sports shouldnt be the main priority.  However, a successful athletic team, especially football, increases the appeal to perpective students (something McDaniels new administration neglects to confirm).
Muchacho, in regards to Keating being a "GREAT COACH" I'd check your sources; some people are just blessed with good coaching staffs who receive little to no credit.
terror5005, were you a former player?

muchacho

Wouldn't Keating be responsible for hiring and managing his coaching staff? If the staff is successful, that is a reflection on the Head Coach. And if his assistants are great coaches, why would they work for him if they didn't think they had a good leader?

CC#1fan,

Graduated in the spring after four years of service to the Terror.

Muchacho,

Keating has his moments as a coach, he is an offensive-minded coach, whose system is based around a qb that is athletic with a good enough arm to keep defenses honest. He prefers to throw the ball, sometimes to a flaw, and sometimes his playcalling tends to be too cute for a situation. Such as the ever popular 3rd and 15 HB draw. While a lot of the wins on his resume can be credited to Al Thomas and Brad Fordyce's defenses as much or more so then his offense, he is a heck of a coach and a recruiter.

Just finished listening to McDaniel/Catholic game. The Terror with a huge come from behind win today 14-13. Two kicking miscues by Catholic a missed PAT and a missed 33 yd. FG with :08 left led to the win. Good win for the young McDaniel team, defense held tough, and the offense did just enough. Good momentum heading into the BYE week and then the conference schedule.

Any one have any thoughts on this weeks games??? Because this board is dead for it being the fourth week of the season!

Terror:

Here are some predictions

Denison vs. Gettysburg: Gettysburgs seems to bring two different teams week in and week out. Very inconsistant play. But i will go with the CC on this one has I do not know anything about Denison. Gburg 31 Dension 20

Johns Hopkins vs St. Lawrence: Very different year for Hopkins. They have also controlled the ball well and did not turn it over in years past. This is something that they have yet to be able to do this year. I am sure they got that fixed during the bye week and again ill go with the CC in this. Hopkins 19 St.Lawrence-3

F&M vs Carnegie Mellon:  Long trip for the Dips after a loss last week to Kean.  Carnegie has played noone this year and i think the teams that have beaten are a combined 0-7, so the jury is out to see just how good they are.  F&M needs to stop the vaunted wing-t to win.  Ill go with them as they will rebound from last week. 21-20 Dips

What is everyone elses thoughts? This a very quiet board and it is pretty bad

terror5005

With over half the teams on BYEs it was still a rough week for the CC.
Whats going on with Hopkins D? Is it injuries or is that defense still waiting for a playmaker to emerge?  Atleast Gettysburg was able to salvage a W for the conference this week.

AMISH, what happened against C-M? Were you at the game?

Amish Allstar

I was not there but from reading the article from the Pittsburgh paper and looking at the box score it looks as though BIG plays killed the Dips.

It is a new week and this is what we spent the first four waiting for: CC play begins. Should be another exciting year with many even matchups and surprising victories and defeats.

I haven't been to any games, yet this year but I think it has been a combination of things.  The offense has turned the ball over like 9-10 times in three games and placed the defense in a bad position.  Further, the defense doesn't seem to be able to generate the big play this year.  Lastly, it looks like a down year for Hopkins after 5-6 yrs that have been the best in its history.  Saying that the way the CC is it is still anybodies crown for the taking.

FearTheRam

How about dem bears?! Notched another win yesterday.

Amish Allstar

No surprises yesterday in the CC. Although I am not sold on the Bears.  A nice win no doubt but McDaniel has sunk real fast.  Pains me to say it but Dickinson looks like the team to beat this year.  F&M put up some nice numbers against one of the better defenses in the CC and double the rushing that muhlenberg usually gives up.

Fearthe ram: who does Ursinus have next week?

bearsfan1

Bears are traveling to Ohio to play Case Western this coming weekend.  I wouldn't say that UC is for real yet either but they completely dominated that game yesterday.  Over 400 yards of offense to McDaniel's 180+. Crazy for a UC team.  Their defense is playing extremely well. Still have yet to surrender a td at home this year.

terror5005

I think Ursinus' offense has the talent to be extremely good this year, and it looks like the defense is much improved, but if I were them I wouldn't be hanging my hat on shutting down the Terror offense right now. Looks like that Ursinus-Dickinson game in November could be real interesting, assuming Gettysburg isn't involved. Might be taking the place of the Hopkins-McDaniel game at the end of the year that always seemed to determine the CC.

Terror:

What is wrong with the Offense? Is it scheme or what? Players making mistakes or not making plays? Is was not to long ago that they were averaging over 400 yards a game!
