WR#1

I havent been as active on this board due to the fact I havent been able to get to any games over the past few weeks.  Im going to right the ship next week and provide my opinion soon enough.  Picks for this week are above.

Bulldog10

Dickinson - Upset city.  Houds looked weak vs Hopkins last week.
F an M
G'burg - tough loss vs the Mules.
Hopkins - UPSET CITY!

Juniata - Mcdaniel will not win another game all year.

Reserved Seat

Picks
Dickinson
Franklin and Marshall
Ursinus
Juniata
Muhlenberg

Last week's close games make it a crap shoot to pick the winners.  Last week I lived on two last minute field goals-one made, one missed.

Picks for this week.

Dickinson
Franklin & Marshall
Ursinus
Muhlenberg
Juniata (for Murphy)

I am going to the Moravian/Dickinson game should be a great game!

So is everyone picking Juniata for murphy or do they actually believe they'll win?

I have not paid as close attention as I used to, but I remember McDaniel or Western Maryland used to dominate this conference.

CBE

Congrats to McDaniel for picking up their first win.

Reserved Seat

F&M needs to improve their kicking game to avoid giving games away.  Most of the kick-offs either go for no distance or out of bounds.  The punting phase of their game gives them very poor position, even allowing for easy returns.  Their passing is their strength.  Their receivers often seem to be wide open.
Unless they can improve their field position by improving their kicking game they will have difficult winning games.  The defense is forced too often to work on a short field.

old ends

It seems that turnovers became key factors in a lot of the games this weekend.

Turnover leaders, both with plus 7-- Muhlenberg and Dickinson. At the other end John Hopkins and Ursinus both with -5.
The game, I thought would be closer, Getteysburg-- Ursinus. It seems that turnovers played a big factor there in Gettysburg's favor.

Did not see any Div III this weekend. Under the weather.

Splik -

I know this is a couple of days late to respond, but as to your earlier question.  I picked Juniata because I really believed they had a shot at winning this game.  McDaniel used to dominate this conference, but that was in the late 90s more recently the conference has been pretty wide open with a number of teams winning it (2006 - Dickinson, 2005 - Hopkins, 2004 - 5 way tie Dickinson, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, McDaniel, F&M, 2003 - Tie Hopkins, Muhlenberg).  As to why I picked Juniata in this game I really believed that without Baer at QB it would be hard for McDaniel to preform consistantly on offense, and from the scores of their earlier games it looked like they had a hard time stopping people on defense.

BTEXPRESS

I picked Juniata to win for the same reasons. I saw McDaniel play Dickinson the week before and really thought Dickinson was so superior athletically. I couldn't see McDaniel scoring a lot of points on Juniata. I guess the Eagles are in for a long season.

BTEXPRESS

Looking at this week's games, I think I have to go with all the favorites:

DICKINSON over JHU
URSINUS over F & M
MORAVIAN over Gettysburg(best game of the week)
MULENBERG over Juniatia

splik

seeing as how McDaniel beat Juniata 14-10 it doesn't look like McDaniel had a whole lot of offense, but enough to win.
From my limited experience it seems Juniata's defense spends a lot of the time on the field since the Eagles have had trouble running the ball or sustaining long drives and giving the defense a rest.
Would that be a fair assesment of what happened last Saturday against McDaniel?

This weeks picks

Dickinson
Ursinus
Muhlenberg
Gettysburg--should have picked them last week..( should of, could of, didn't) >:(

Seeing how I am only in the Mountains of Maryland for the last 3 months, Does the colder weather start to play a factor?

When I lived in Vermont and Upstate NY the southern teams could not handle the weather at all which became a big home field advantage.

weekly Picks:

So far my picks have been rather horrid, but maybe this is the week to turn it around.

Dickinson over JHU
Ursinus over F&M
Moravian over Gettysburg
Muhlenberg over Juniata

Old Ends-

As to weather becoming a factor, it never seemed to be the last four years while I was playing.  Geographically the schools are not at all far apart so I dont think anyone has an advantage as far as that goes. The only game that might qualify was my junior season when Dickinson went down to Hampden-Sydney  late in the season and the weather was unbelieveably warm,  but that game isn't even on the schedule anymore.  I digress, the bottom line is weather shouldn't be a factor.

p.s. I don't even know how I lost karma, but more to the point what is it? do I want it? and if so how do I get it back?
