You called me out so here I am.

Yes, I am a die-hard JC Eagles fan.  I've seen the ups and the downs and want more than anything for things to turn around for that team.  It breaks my heart when people say stupid s*** , i.e. calling them a high school JV team and picking on the coaching staff.  These people have no idea.  They have no clue about how hard these young men and coaches work to make the most of what they've got.   You can only work with what you are given.  Come to a game and look at a program, compare the size of Juniata's players to their competition....it's a pretty big difference.  It's ashame that the size of heart is not listed.

And as far as Huntingdon not being a happenin' town.  No crap!  But JC is its own little society up on the hill and the students are always up to something.  They have a way of making their own fun.

Murphy

Dude read back to the post from Terror, I didn't saw anything about Juniata being a JV team.

I told the guy to leave Juniata alone and defended the players, coaches that's another story.  Juniata's players always play hard I have never said other wise.

Huntingdon is what it is a nice town that doesn't have much to offer young people looking for a night life.

I assume you read my previous post about your rant from a couple of weeks ago.  I have a clear conscience.

I sent an e-mial to your personal address did you read it?

Cool your jets Murphy.  Not all comments are directed solely at you, paranoid much?  Just like you I felt the need to air out my feelings.  Nothing personal.

The downfall of the Green Terror program began the day they changed their name to McDaniel.  Who did not see that coming.  Their head coach is the same guy who won a bunch off CC championships under the name of Western Maryland.

As a Dickinson College follower, I am upset that Pat Coleman and co. are projecting a 2 loss team of Hobart into the play-offs ahead of Dickinson w/ a Pool C bid.  I am not saying that Dickinson should make the play-offs if they beat Ursinus this week.  I am only saying that should be considered ahead of Hobart.

fbfan814

At least they kept the Green Terror name.  That is one of the best team names around.

BTEXPRESS

OCK7 The Hopkins loss just absolutely killed Dickinson's chance at the BIG Dance this year, otherwise they have had a great and exciting season.

This is GOOD DRAMA, now I feel this message board has caught up to some of the others. Splik, I think this is what you wanted a few weeks ago. Murph, for what it is worth, I am on your side in this argument. You stated your feelings about the team(as any Parent or Fan would) then took the heat and now you rightfully feel you need to defend yourself.

Murphy

I think fbfan814 owes me an explanation for his original post.

Which he has been ignoring ever since. He questions whether or not I had the stones to make my feelings known to the Juniata head coach.

I explaned how things went down and he has yet to acknowledge my reply.  Must have a short memory or can't admit when he's wrong.

Its been awhile and it looks like a lot of interesting things happened while I was away (both on and off the field).  As to Dickinson getting in before Hobart, I agree the loss to Hopkins was devestating towards their chances, the best that they can hope for now is to get an ECAC game at home, and they'll only get that if they win this weekend.
The good news on that note is that they get Ursinus at home.  In my four years at Dickinson the difference between playing them at home or at Collegeville was incredible.  My freshman and junior years we got them at home and whopped them completely both times.  My sophmore and senior years we played them on the road and they were both incredibly tough games. (sophmore year we won 10 - 7, senior year we lost in overtime).  I think Dickinson playing them at home will make the difference.

As to conference players of the year as to the offensive side its hard for me to say there are a lot of strong candidates.  Mitchell and his body of work seem to make a very strong case, but then I'm biased.  Matt Torchia (Dickinson QB) won it last year, and due to the fact that Dickinson did not repeat as champs I am skeptical that they will award O-POTY to a Devil this season also.

As far as defensive player of the year goes, there is one player that is at another level on the defensive side of the ball, Eric Dube LB Dickinson College.  Again I'm biased, but from playing with him for three years and seeing him a number of times this year he is the most exciting defensive player that I have seen in this conference.  He garnered the award deservedly last year and this year I think he might be even better (his knee is much healthier than it was last season).

Murph, I don't know why you seem to garner so much negative attention from the other posters, I don't think you've ever said anything unreasonable.  Attacking the players is the only thing that I think is out of bounds, and you have always supported and cheered them on, I think it shows a lot of strength on your part because it would be easy to put things on the kids especially with a son on the team that you might think deserves more playing time (dont know the story there, just assuming he doesn't get a lot of PT because he is a freshman.)  As to criticizing the coaches, well thats part of their job.  They have to know that if things go badly that they are going to be blamed.

Devil, Murph's son has started at Fullback from Day One as a Freshman.

fbfan814

Murphy you're gonna be waiting awhile for that email, buddy.  I have nothing more to say to you.  And as for your apologizing, good for you.  Perhaps next time you won't talk negatively about the whole team, including the players.

On the contrary my son is one of the few freshman in the conference to start as a freshman, plays fullback and plays a lot plays on 3 of the 4 special teams.  My grip isn't about playing time it's about opportunity, specifically to opportunity to do something he was recruited to do, play running back.

He went there thinking he was going to have an opportunity to compete for the tailback position. Never got the chance, they moved him to fullback after the third practice, before they even put the pads on.

He feels as if he didn't get a chance to compete, I agree.  All he wants is a chance and he didn't get it.

Consider this he's bigger and faster (6 foot 190 runs a 4.6 forty) than the rest of the backs.  He averaged over 7 yards a carry during a 3 year varsity career playing against some of the best football teams in district 4.   The year he had a decent line in front of him he averaged over 11 yards a carry for the season.  Playing against the likes Montoursville (they have not had a loosing season since 1985) and five time state champ Southern Columbia.

All he wanted was a chance to compete, didn't get the chance to run the ball on a team that's weakest link is running the ball.

If your son is starting as a freshman, good for him, but it probably means the program isn't that good.  Being that they are 0-9, that seems obvious.  But if he's happy getting turf time good for him.  He wanted a chance to compete?  Well if by showing up on Saturdays and getting his butt handed to him then thats what is happening.  As for high school performance, it means NOTHING in college, no matter what level.  Was he recruited by any other CC schools?

Murphy

Jim Dog why would I want to reply to anything you have to say?

You are a sad and angry man and you owe an apology to the Juniata players for your comments yesterday.

And don't say another thing about my kid!  You don't know my kid dude.
