PaWesley,

Do you really think I am whining when I just say what's on my mind and heart? If so, thats ok with me.
Perhaps I suffer from too  sober a view of the precious experience....life...with feelings...and a heart...and sensitivity...and common sense....and who is to say what is factual in the realm of the surreal.....the term I used to preface my earlier  remarks which precipitated all this activity...its good to see some action on the
board....I'll have a life "lite"...you can enjoy your preference too...great country...gotta love the passion of a rooo, an old end, a Frank Rossi, a Pat Coleman, a ryan tipp, and a K-Mack....Happy Hollidays...

You certainly have a different way of getting people talking!  All I am saying a little sugar and less vinager may get you a little better response.

And Happy Holidays to you and yours. Don't know how much typing I'll be doing after Friday...(arm surgery) so I'll send the well wishes now. :)

it sure sounds like you have a fine group of athlete-scholars;we are, fortunately or unfortunately, just a l ittle smaller, just a little slower, and just scholar-athletes......

Everyone in Division III is a scholar first and an athlete second, muledaddy. Put down the bitters.

Muledaddy,

There are too many times I come on this site, see you rant and rave about underrating the Mules and then you apologize a few hours later. GET OVER IT. You had an overrating at #2 in the country. If you really think that besides Mount Union, you were the best team in the country, then you are very, very wrong. As far as coming on this site and ranting about how your son is the best blocker in the conference, and the best fullback in the conference, then you are turning into one of those stuck up parents who believes his kid should playing for the NY Giants. Don't be like that and don't downgrade people like Timmy Wells from Dickinson or deRouen from Moravian, who in most books are the 1 and 2 fullbacks in the conference. I've stated it once and will state it again, there is an elite class of teams in D3 that have a legit chance every year, and your Mules are NOT one of them.

CruAlum39

Muledaddy,

Injuries are a part of football.  They suck, but you really cant use them as an excuse.  Most teams have a key injury or two by game nine.  That's a lot of games.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

BTEXPRESS

41 to 14, 45 to 28, 34 to 17, 63 to 7. What are these numbers? The final scores from last weekend's D III playoff games. If you read my posts from last week, history has a way of repeating itself. The four losers last week made if to the FINAL EIGHT out of 239 schools playing Division III football. Look at Washington & Jefferson for example. They have a long and storied football history. They have a former Mount Union player as their Head Coach. If you speak with their Head Coach, he will come flat out and tell you he believes his team is and/or should be a TOP TEN team every year in Division III. He expects his team to compete for the National Championship, yet deep down inside he knows they are not in Mount Union's, or St John's or Whitewater's or this year Mary Hardin Baylor's class. His team lost 63 to 7. Muledaddy, your Mules had a nice two year run. They got to make it to the big dance two years in a row, but the sad reality is there are only 4 or 5 teams that  have a chance to win a National championship in Division III. It is what it is. Just enjoy the fact that for a few weeks you were able to tell your friends, neighbors and relatives that your son was playing for the NUMBER 2 ranked team in the nation. I know I did the same thing when you came to Carlisle to play Dickinson. " Hey my son's team is playing the #2 team ranked in the nation this week." It's just not apples to apples anymore when it comes to the playoffs. The average D III football team can not compete when you compare them to the elite teams in the Nation. Look at who is left, Mt Union, Whitewater, MHB and Wheaton. Three of those teams will be there for years to come. Let's all root for Wheaton this weekend. Maybe we will witness a miracle!

Daddy,

One of the keys to success in D3 is large squads.  This helps with the injury situation and gets guys playing in their natural  position.  Another is getting to postseason play so everybody gets more practices to prepare for the next year.

Look at the teams that are successful year after year such as UMHB, UWW, St. John's, and MUC and you will see this pattern.

Otherwise, be happy that you get to the playoffs and that your son is getting a good education playing the sport he loves.
Fierce When Roused

CruAlum90

Yep, you guys are right, there are only 4 or 5 teams that legitimately have a shot to win the national championship every year.  3 of them are still playing and i'd have to stick St. Johns and possibly Hardin Simmons in that category, the only reason they have not been advancing to this level is because they keep playing us in the first round every year.  ANyways, Saturday will be an awesome test for both teams.  The Cru's advancing this year though, this team is playing its best football right now and has really jelled and come together at the end of the year when it's mattered.  Besides, I know the U wants another shot at us, seeing as though we are the only team in america with a winning record against em..... GO CRU..... GO TEXAS FOOTBALL
"What are they gonna do......... not start me?"

Muledaddy--- you have proved to be a motivational person.  Your posting motivated at lot of response. Have not seen that much activity on this board, post season, in a long time. But please try not to keep it up. Season is over, your sons recovery is now important. May everything go well with him for the new year.

Pat Coleman

As a reminder, Muhlenberg was never higher than No. 4 in our poll.

muledaddy, have a great holiday.  dont change your enthusiasm for the mules, just keep it in perspective when looking at the big picture of d3football.  no need to beat a dead horse, or in this case a mule ;), making it to the top flight teams in the polls does not translate to the field, wesley has found that out 4 years now, certainly a top 10 team, but not quite a top 4 one.

Mates,

I love d3 football. It will remain an impotant part of my life the rest of my life, as a hobby. I know that MUC,
WW, and UMHB play a different level game from the vast majority of the rest of the division. If Wheaton
can advance, it would be a nice thing, kinda like the Phillies winning the world series. It just doesn't
happen every day.(Phils have won 2 championships since 1885).
Strange as it sounds, I enjoy the banter of these boards, sincerely hoping that some of you can appreciate
that half the time I am  playing the role of the provocateur in our little debates.
Dreams can come true, most of mine have.I am blessed and grateful as we approach the time of the year where I see more gratitude and good will to our fellows than all year long. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Muledaddy,

I have said my piece and promised myself I would not respond again, however;

This last flowery post and saying you are "playing the role of the provocateur in our little debates" does nothing to make up for the denigrating and condescending response you made regarding the "athlete-scholars" at UMHB.  If you are truly the fan of D3 football you say you are, you would apologize to the UMHB athletes you slandered and to the parents of those athletes like me!  That is, if you have the compassion and parental love you claim to have.

That is it and I am through with this matter for good.  Merry Christmas and best wishes for your son as he goes through surgery.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!
