It really doesn't seem like it was that long ago.  As part of D3football.com's 10th anniversary, the website looks back on the ten most memorable conference races of the D3football.com era. At No. 1, perhaps the most memorable college football conference race in Division III history, as when the dust settled on the 2004 Centennial Conference season, five teams could claim a share of the championship. Pat Cummings, a 2002 graduate of Dickinson and a contributor to D3football.com's Around The Mid-Atlantic region for years, wrote a column about the race with two weeks left in the season. With one week remaining, things had not become any clearer. Below is a page that tried to explain the situation "if this or if that" happened. Enjoy this trip down memory lane.

Reserved Seat and Yen4ten, don't forget to get your picks in. Boy the weather is just nasty today. Hopefully it clears up by game time on Saturday.

without even reading the article on the '04 CC race i am getting chills thinking about it...i was a Jr. at McDaniel at the time and every single week it was like being GLUED to the websites/internet figuring out who won by how many and where they played and who they had next...to this day it is nice to say that we had the opportunity to share a piece of the pie that year, but obviously would've been much sweeter had it been exclusive.  That should serve as proof that ALL CC boys can flat out GET IT on the football field, and as far as the underlying message that D-III sports promotes, i can't think of a more competitive conference that can tout such a mass of highly-educated, qualified, hard-working young men.

I'm pulling for an upset down in Baltimore to make this race a little more interesting. Dips, Mules, Bullets and Bears.

A story that goes beyond football ... Dickinson senior Ian Mitchell helps to fight cancer one yard at a time ... while also becoming the most productive QB in school history.

Greetings to all from the left coast!  I've listened to a couple of games this year and the Mules look like they are in a rebuilding year.  If it's not too late I would like to enter my picks:

F&M
Hopkins
Mules
Gettysburg

Susquehanna
Lycoming

All the best to you all for keeping this post alive!

Haltime score Ursinus 16 Hopkins 7, so much for thinking this week's picks would be slam dunks. It has been said many times on this board, the CC is a tough conference. If the bears hold on to win, it might be 2004 all over again as far as the conference race is concerned.

Recouping in Fl has made my brain not focus on the whole picture.
Should have pick Ursinus-- that makes 4 years straight over Hopkins. Hurray for the Bears. Makes the
Conference title a hourse race.

Four teams have but one loss. Hopkins, F & M, Dickinson, and Ursinus.
Hopkins and F & M have a date in three weeks
Dickinson and Ursinus meet last week of Conference play

This also could change if the any of the above catch a loss before those games. Hopkins has a week  to shake this off and then get ready for Juniata.
Dickinson gets ready to play for a Jug against Gettysburg
F & M has the Muhls at home
Ursinus travels back to MD for McDaniel.( keep that in mind,, back to back trips to MD)

another season of sitting on the edge of the seat

This is all you can ask for as a football fan, it is anybody's conference. I can not wait for next week.

ccfan27

Wow. What a weekend in the CC. I must admit I was wrong, McDaniel takes care of business against the Mules and Ursinus drops the big upset of Hopkins. Congrats to those 2 programs for proving the many on here that picked against them without giving them much of a chance, myself included. Ursinus has been impressive and the rest of the year is going to be quite exciting. This is what makes this conference so great, any saturday anyone can win.
