2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I really like what i read about Coach Troxell, A fine Outstanding human being and i hope he wins coach of the year, he's done a fine job and F & M. but what really puts the icing on the cake for me anyway he was an assistant coach at Muhlenberg for 3 years.

My pick for this week:
Wisconsin-Whitewater

Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but I am picking WHITEWATER to win on Saturday.

My pick for the Championship

Mount Union

I am sick of these 2 teams. Bump them up to Division II. It would really make the playoffs interesting if they were not involved.

Agreed, it would probably make for an exciting championship if there were 2 first time teams playing. I will still watch the game on TV and alot of D3 fans will as well. Half will watch only to see if Mt Union can be bumped off again by Whitewater like a few years ago.

Pick:  Mt. Union

Yeah, its the same old same old.  You can't bump the schools up to DII without giving scolarships which is not on the agenda I suppose.  The questions is: "how do these two teams get the players they do without giving them scholarships or have they found a loophole that no one else has found?"

PA_wesleyfan

One little thing is they both get home games every year
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

Here are my thoughts on the subject.I could be wrong, but I don't think both Ohio and Wisconsin have many D2 schools which seem to drain the talent pool in states like Pennsylvania (where most CC schools are located for an example). The Wisconsin schools are State schools which helps attracting kids if finances are a consideration.

I agree with your thoughts, it seems as though Ohio has a lot of Division 1 teams (i.e. Ohio, Ohio State, Miami Ohio, Akron, Cincinnatti, etc.). So for the most part the elite players go to Division 1 programs and then many players who would probably be at a higher level than Divison III (i.e. Division 1 FCS, Division II) in other states end up at Mount Union in Ohio. I think that Mount Union could certainly compete on the Division II level. I think they would likely be near the top of the PSAC year in and year out with the talent level that they have.

INCORRECT.  In Ohio there are almost 40 colleges that play football.  Ohio's 18 D3 teams make it a very competitive state for recruiting.  Then you add in fringe teams like Thomas More just south of Cincy, who gets alot of the quality Cincy guys.  Adrian on the border of Mich/Ohio hits Northwest Ohio and members of the PAC compete for players from Northeast Ohio because of their proximity to Ohio.

The bottom line is ... Mount Union has had sustained success because of Larry Kehres.  The fundamentals he teaches and the coaching the players receive is 2nd to none.

But there are only 4 or 5 D2 schools in Ohio. I don't disagree that Coach Kehres has built a monster through hard work but there are well over 20 D3 schools just in the Eastern part of Pa plus (14) D2 PSAC schools throughout the state competing for players.
