Johns Hopkins is the favorite to win the 2010 Centennial Conference football championship in a preseason poll of football coaches and sports information directors. The Blue Jays received 11 of 20 first-place votes (teams not permitted to vote for themselves) for 154 points to outdistance Franklin & Marshall (145 pts, 7 firsts). Ursinus was third (126, 1), followed by Susquehanna (107, 1), Dickinson (99), Muhlenberg (90), McDaniel (57), Moravian (52), Gettysburg (51) and Juniata (19).

Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated.

I'd say the Centennial Conference is pretty darn good.

John Troxell doesn't spend too much time thinking about the successes of 2009. In his fourth year at the helm, the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Finalist delivered a 9-2 season that ended with a come-from-behind, 29-24 win, over Wilkes in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl.

With the teams having reported to camp this week I would have thought there might be some chatter on the board. What are everyone's thoughts for this year? Favorite to win the league? Offensive POY? Defensive POY? etc.

My guess would be it will be a 2 team race between JHU and F&M based mostly on the strong QB play each of them have been getting over the last couple seasons. I also would put those 2 QBs as my front runners for Offensive POY. It will be interesting to see how JHU fares without Kase in the backfield as he was a workhorse last year. Should be an interesting season as it always is in the CC. Look forward to hearing others' opinions.

Having a son that played in the undefeated years at Muhlenberg, him and i have been talking and The Mules have a hard road ahead of them, but knowing Mike Donnelly, even losing one of his coaches who accepted the Head Coaching job at Kings,  he will get Muhlenberg into the mix and won't be down for too long...... I hope.

First time posting to CC as I'm coming over from LL with Susquehanna. It's good to be in Centennial and hoping to learn a lot and have some fun. There are very good institutions & teams here and SU fits in well.

Go Crusaders!

Don't forget JHU's defense.  They were very strong last season.

Huge upgrade to the CC with Susquehanna joining it.    There are going to be some real slobberknockers this season..no doubt!

What's the read on Dickinson this season?  I noticed they were ranked #6 or something in the coaches' preseason poll.

Mitchell et al certainly are tough to replace, but does this board see a big drop off coming in Carlisle this fall?

I don't really know too much about what Dickinson has coming back, I believe they have 2 of their running backs returning, not sure how much on defense. That being said, Mitchell was a huge portion of their offense for the last few years and I think it will be too much to replace for them to be a top contending team. Where they fall among the rest remains to be seen. If they can play some good defense and run the ball effectively, I could see them finishing in the top half.

They should be solid.

I see Gettysburg has added four new assistant coaches. This seems to me to be a warning to the current staff under Barry Streeter. I mean, for the past two years Gettysburg had the league's best offense and its worst defense. And last year was truly sad with the squad utterly losing spirit through the season and just getting worse each game. Gettysburg values its athletics and I think the AD there (not to mention the alums) may be getting a little impatient with the consistently lackluster and under-achieving Bullets. Streeter's a long-time class act but if your kids don't perform for you, then somethings got to give.

Overall, I hate to say this, but I think the Centennial is weaker than last year.  With Mitchell, Kase, and a whole lot of stars graduating, this conference doesn't have the same feel.  Who are the up and coming stars for each team?  I know the Mules have some young talent at QB and the other skill spots even though they lost Cresta.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I know, I know.

I want to hear from the real Centennial experts though, the guys from this forum know these teams inside and outside.
