A Pleasant Surprise..G-Burg is a real player in this years competition.....a very nice showing by the Bullets moves them up several notches in my book....Congrats to coach barry Streeter....... only  3 pts on the board....Juniata and Mcdaniel are still hurting.......and facing long seasons...
no matter how good their defenses are......moravian started surpisingly well over susquehana....the rest
were about as expected......this was week  1 as I saw it....

Picks Summary - So far only 4 people have weighed in with the picks. We didn't make an effort until late last week to get it going so hopefully more people will join on this week.

With identical picks, Bubdad, Muledaddy, and myself were 4-2. 69Mule's only difference was taking Albright instead of Ursinus and came in at 3-3.

Interesting week throughout the Centennial - I of course was happy to see Moravian pull out a win against a playoff team last year in Susquehanna - also heard from a couple friends who were at the game that Moravian left a few more points on the field with some sustained drives that didn't turn into points.

McDaniel score surprised me a little, not sure if that is improvement by Juniata or whether McDaniel is going to take a step back after winning I believe 5 games last year.

Gburg win was impressive. F&M was what I expected. Glad to see Ursinus get a win against a good MAC team from last year. I don't think the Mules should be overly concerned about their loss to Del Val as I believe Del Val is a legitimate top 10 team, I think playing that level of competition this early in the season can only help the Mules later on.

I'll try to give my thoughts on the games each week with the picks summary - and we certainly would enjoy more participants in the pick 'ems.

This weeks games:

JHU @ Randolph Macon
Dickinson @ Hobart
Juniata @ Susquehanna
Moravian @ McDaniel
Ursinus @ F&M*

*I'd call this the game of the week in the Centennial could have serious championship implications.

BT,

My heart goes out to your son, you and your family, a career ending injury being devastating.I was lucky, my kids knee injury/surgery didn't happen until game 9 of his sr year.....just the regular strains, sprains,
and dings until then. It hurt like hell so I can't imagine it happening earlier... the emotional pain was as bad
as the physical....good luck to your boy in the future...I pray he has as good a recovery as humanly possible.

One moment the world is peachy....the next its just the pits..
Muledaddy, Thats for the kind words. I know you and your son went through the same thing. The good news is the sun still comes up everyday and he is still getting a fine education. The bad news is that he didn't go out on his own terms. As we all know, especially in D3, the end of the line does eventually come. That being said, he is a better, more rounded person by having the opportunity of playing D3 football and for that we are gratefull.

Bubdad was in Bethlehem for the game as well. Moravian dominated time of possession while SU's young defense was on a long learning curve. Still the Greyhounds only put up 10 points. Left points on the field? Yes, Moravian may have scored again after an interception in the final two minutes but the Crusaders had the ball inside the 5 three times and came away with 6 points. I believe the last attempt was a touchdown on fourth down as the ball broke the plane, unfortunately there's no replay review in Div 3. Garner is the second tall strong QB I've seen in two weeks after being at the Alfred scrimmage. Moravian is a good team this year. Susquehanna's offense underachieved on Saturday, the jury is out on the Crusaders right now.
My picks,

JHU over Randolph Macon
Hobart over Dickinson
Susquehanna over Juniata
Moravian over Mcdaniel
F&M over Ursinus

I think it's nice to see the NCAA do for Division III what we have been doing since 1997.

I agree, it's long overdue since the vast majority of their "student athletes" are in Div 3. Doubt they'll ever have the savy to do what you do here though.
