Wagon stays in Carlisle.

Dickinson played well and the QB impressed me with is running ability.  And #13 came up with two HUGE plays on the opening kickoff returna and reverse.

The story again was turnovers for the Dips.  3 fumbles and 1 interception.  Not much else to say.

Congratulations to coach Margraff his staff and the JHU players for earning their 4th consecutive CC championship.  If they win next week against Ursinus, they can clinch their 1st ever solo conference championship and the NCAA bid.

Although Ursinus is 3-4, they could easily have been 7-0 this season.  They have lost those 4 games this season by 8, 1, 8 and 7 points.  In fact, they led in most of those games and were very competitive.  I hope JHU dosn't have a let down or take the Bears lightly.

What happened to McDaniel against RMC?  Having seen RMC this year, I was surprised that they could dominate the game like that.  I thought even a banged up McDaniel would be competitive.

Did anyone see the game?

Although this board is dead, there are a few interesting scenarios left this season.  If Ursinus beats JHU and wins out, they can share the title with JHU and take the NCAA bid if JHU loses to McDaniel.  Likewise, McDaniel still stands an outside chance of sharing the conference and winning the NCAA bids.  Should JHU beat a respectable Ursinus team this Saturday, they will win it all.

Looks like there will be 2 new CC members in 2006.  ATR says Moravian and Juniata will join the CC for football only next year.

Pat Cummings made the correct observation in ATR that every opponent the Blue Jays played this season has a losing record. Not even one team is .500 through eight weeks of the season.   Although that will change by the end of the season, it could make this weeks game against Ursinus even more interesting.

On the other hand, you can only play who's on your schedule.  Over the last 3 seasons their schedule has had 15 teams with winning records, 13 teams with losing records, and 5 teams who were .500.  Their record over that span was 28-5.

I guess people are using the same "Ferrum" argument against JHU, but you're right BBM, you can only play the teams on your schedule.  They shouldn't apologize for being 7-0 and winning ugly.  7-0 is 7-0.  Good teams find ways to win.

And their nationally ranked defense isn't a fluke, I don't care who they play.

I agree that they better not take Ursinus lightly this week.  They are much better than their record indicates.  Of course even if JHU does win, the naysayers will claim all they did was beat another team with a losing record.  They're in a lose/lose situation this week, even if they do clinch.

They'll need the playoffs to make a statement and I'm sure they wouldn't have it any other way.

I am using that record to justify them not cracking the Top 25 for the D3football poll, and showing that the coaches seem to have their seven wins rated abnormally higher than those wins might lead one to believe.

Ferrum now has two wins against teams with winning records, Methodist and Averett.

I wasn't making an argument about JHU being in the top 25 in the d3football.com poll.  I think the fact that they're not, despite 7-0 record, says volumes about what the voters think.  I'm not about to lobby like the Ferrum fans, because I know the polls don't mean anything.  The one that matters comes out tomorrow on ncaasports.com.

JHU can finish the season 10-0 and, in the voters' eyes,  it won't matter because of their schedule, and that's fine.

Games aren't won in the polls.  Games are won on the field.  JHU will earn their respect at home on November 16th at home aginst Salisbury/Bridewater/Ferrum.

Pat,

There was no need to defend the D3football.com poll since no one was attacking it.   In fact, I agree that Ursinus will be a very tough game for JHU on Saturday.  Using your rationale to justify JHU not cracking the Top 25 for the D3football poll is reasonable.

If any CC team were unbeaten and already played several opponents with winning records, they still might not be ranked.   Your poll emphasizes historical playoff and out of conference performance against quality opponents.  This naturally favors certain teams and conferences and is difficult (as it should be) to change.

The CC definately needs some NCAA playoff wins this year.  I just hope IF they win in the playoffs, voters don't try and rationalize their win(s) by saying other the other NCAA playoff teams they played were not that good.

Pat:

I thought I read the Susquehanna was also trying to enter the CC?  WAs that wrong or did they get denied?

Susquehanna is coming to the LL?  I was wondering about there program, but no one has been able to give me any info.  I thought they had a decent program, but the last couple of years don't seem to be very great.
