I can't tell you for sure, I've moved out of the area and haven't had a chance to see any games. That will change this weekend, but they don't have a lot of talent on that OL, and Baer is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken...well, I'm sure you know how it goes. But when your top returning RB had one carry for two yards, the running game is going to suffer even with Baer's athleticism. I think the other problem is that for the past few years Keating has tried to have a passing offense, when his OL was big enough to pound people in the rushing game. And now that its a young team, and you want to play a close to the vest style built around a running game and a tough D, they just don't have the necessary tools.

Another tough loss for McDaniel.  Not taking anything away from the bears, but come on, another shut-out?  To play hard and not win is one thing, but to continuely get beat up by other teams is all about attitude.
A leader and model for attitude for any team, even more-so than the QB, is the head coach.  His demeanor sets the tone for the team.  I feel sorry for McDaniel players that have to see their head coach crying and clutching his players in aid to hold him up in fear of fainting from the stress of a tough play or a bad call.  Players want a coach to look up to, someone they respect.  I'm not insuing that a coach must be some full tilt hard knocks person, but repsect is something earned by actions and I'm not sure that's merrited by whimpering like your 9 week old poodle just got run over by grandad's lawnmower when things dont go your way.
When Western Maryland/Mcdaniel was on a winning streak for a few seasons they did seem to have some stacked players.  Huge running backs, great QB's, defense as intense as any in D3 and a gargantuan o-line.  Is it hard to win with those players?  Now that they dont have the size speed and strength of the past, coaching is the what it comes down to.  And if your questioning coaching, might as well start with the top right?

Whelp....how about some picks?

Low scoring contest between two grind it out, smack you in the mouth teams. But the Devils end the losing streak against the Mules. Dickinson 17-10

The Dips Homecoming game, against a team they haven't beaten in awhile. Sounds like motivation to me! If the Jays' defense doesn't start making the big plays they've made their trademark, it could be a long day for them. F&M 24-7

The Terror couldn't stop Sturges last year with a much more talented D than this year's squad, but it is Homecoming on the Hill. Gettysburg hasn't won in Westminster in awhile, and that pourous Bullet defense might be just what Baer needs to get going for the season. So I'll plead homer here and take the Terror in a game that might be similar to their CUA game with late 4th quarter heroics. 20-17 McDaniel

Don't know much about Case Western other than apparently they like to throw the ball...A LOT! I'll go with Ursinus' more balanced attack to lead them to 5-0. Bears win 28-10

ADL70

Terror-CWRU hasn't given up more than 23 pts in any game and Ursinus has been held to 6 twice.  Ursinus doesn't get 28.

It should be a close game.  My (biased) predicition CWRU 21-17.

Here are some more:

Ursinus vs. CWRU:  I think this game is a big test for Ursinus.  Case comes into the game averaging 350 yrds/game and Ursinus is only giving up 190 yrds/game. Somethings gotta give in this one and I do not think the Ursinus offense can score enough points to get the win this week.  CWRU 21- Ursinus 6

McDaniel vs. Gburg: Sturges continues to pile up yardage. I also think Baer will have a good game especially running the ball. Gburg 27 Terror 17

Dickinson vs. Muhlenberg:  To me this is an intriguing matchup.  Muhlenberg in the past has always had the Devils number. The Mules have won 7 straight dating back to 1998.  However, I think Dickinson will win this in a close one.  Dicks 14 Mules 10.

JHU vs F&M: The Dips will reverse the fortunes of the past 9 years and get a W here in front of the homecoming crowd.  Turnovers have killed the Jays but I also do not think that they have the athlete at QB this year that they have had in the past with Merrill and Dilonno (spelling). The D is always tough and I do not think that will be any different this year. F&M makes more plays in this one. Dips-24 Jays 13.

I haven't decided on whether UC will win this weekend but I have to believe the defense will keep the game close.  I dont see any team putting up more than 20 pts against them this season.

Thanx

Here's to a good, close, clean, injury-free game.  I think it could go either way.  Home field may be the decider.

UC just took the lead 16-7 on a defensive fumble recovery in the endzone

ADL70

That's the final.  Turnovers gave the Bears 10 pts, the margin of victory.

Impressive D.  Save for one drive, the CWRU O was off balance the whole game.

Good luck the rest of your season.

UC fights back form a 7-0 deficit at halftime.  Congratulations bears! Still not knowing much about CWRU it is tough to say alot about the victory.  The Bears defense is legit, one of the best actually, but the CC is still up for grabs.

Nice to see the Centennial on the front page of D3Football.com, even if it is just to question how legit UC's 4-0 (now 5-0) is.  Still not convinced that they will get any votes in the poll this week, though.

Thank you cwru70, and best of luck to the Spartans.

Way to go Bears! I know they have the toughest part of the schedule to go but hopefully the momentum is with them all the way. The defense has carried  this team to 5-0 so far - now the offense needs to get on the page and make a lot more points happen. They have the talent - it remains to be seen if they have the drive to take make it happen. I'm betting they do!

dipthreat

anyone know what happened to triplin this past week?

Dipthreat:

I think i had heard it was something with his finger.  Either way it must have been serious because he did not play the second half.
