Hobart should have won but fumbles and little  mistakes cost them. The Q/B for Hobart, Storm, can throw and Dickinson got lucky. Hobart's offense was on the field most of the time and with the heat both teams were getting tied. I left the game early because it was just to hot.. Missed the best part of the game, but did listen, in my air condition car, to the ending. Was tempted to go back but the car was cooler. Since Hopkins is about an hour from the house may go there this weekend.

Projections for this week:
Dickinson
Hopkins
Ursinus
Catholic
Muhlenburg
Lebanon Valley

Sorry Can not make comments on the fields since I have only been to Dickinson so far.
I did not know that the founder, Dr. Ben Rush, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. he wounded from the Civil War were brought to one of the buildings during Gettysburg.

Overall it was a nice stadium that could use air conditioning.

Union in a laugher over the berg.

Word at Muhlenberg is that their riming in redoing the field was unfortunate.  They will play on this horrendous astroturf for about 1-2 more years and then will be joining the rest of the world and putting in field turf/nextturf.  Right now, I believe that John Hopkins has the best field in this entire conference and Muhlenberg does indeed have the worst.  MWhile the field may stink at the berg, at least the atmosphere as not as dead as it is at Moravian.  Moravian gets my vote for worst atmospherer with Ursinus coming in a close second.  Come to think of it, Ursinus has a pretty bad field as well.  They come in a close second to Muhlenberg.

I believe both Hopkins and McDaniel have installed turf called Sportexe which is the kind of turf the Baltimore Ravens have in M & T stadium.

F&M plays a Friday night game under the lights.  Should be entertaining.  F&M's first home game under the lights went over well last year.  There were even fireworks when F&M scored their first touchdown.
Unfortunately, the fireworks had nothing to do with the football team scoring.  It was just a coincidence that a fireworks display at a nearby baseball stadium started at the same time, but it was cool.

ANYONE ATTENDING ANY GAMES THIS WEEK.  IT WOULD BE GREAT TO THROW A RECAP ON THE MESSAGE BOARD SO EVERYONE CAN GET A FEEL FOR HOW THE GAME WENT RATHER THAN JUST WHAT IS PROVIDED BY THE BOX SCORE.

Red Devils 07

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting on this or any other site so I am new at this, but if you can't tell from my handle I am very familiar with this conference.  Hopefully I will be attending the Dickinson game at F&M tonight.  If I do I will provide some game details tomorrow.

As for Picks I know its late, but I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring:
Dickinson over F&M - should be a fun game under the lights
Johns Hopkins over Gettysburg
Ursinus over Juniata
McDaniel over Catholic - having seen both teams on film it looks like this could be an ugly game
Union over Muhlenburg - Intereset to see how this game plays out, Union lost a lot of key starters from a very good team last year
Moravian over Lebanon Valley

No real upsets on my list, maybe McDaniel over Catholic, but calling that an upset may be a stretch

I was wondering if the lights for tonight's F & M game are portable, I am asuming they are. I don't recall seeing them the last time I saw a game there. I was also curious why they are playing on a FRIDAY night up against the local High school games instead of Saturday. Any F & M fans :) know why????

Red Devils 07

Yes, the lights at F&M are portable, as to why they scheduled the game for friday night I do not know.  The final was 28-21 Dickinson, but with a score right before half and another to open the third quarter it seemed like Dickinson was going to run away with it.  The game shouldn't have been as close as it was, but Dickinson made a bunch of costly mistakes taking quite a few penalties that stalled drives.  They also put the ball on the ground giving F&M great field position.  Dickinson's offense probably is not as potent or consistant as it was last year, but they can score in bunches and put together big plays.  Ian Mitchell looks like he will develope into a very good QB he already as the ability to make plays with his feet and he showed flashes of his ability to throw the ball.  Defensively Dickinson's front seven may be even better than the unit they had last year (and that is saying a lot for a defense that held opponents to only 66 yards/game on the ground).  It looks like Dube's knee is fully healthy again and he is on pace for an absolutely monster seaon.  For those of you who do not know he had a season ending knee injury as a sophmore and a partial tear as a junior.  Even with those injuries he was by far the best linebacker in the conference and defensive player of the year last season.

I'm hoping to get to the Dickinson v. McDaniel game next weekend.

I don't know the brand name of the turf, but McDaniel's is the same as at Raven's stadium.  I believe the Raven's paid for a part of the cost.  Don't know about Hopkins.

Juniata's field was pretty good when I was there, but that was before they moved to the Centennial so I do not have much basis to compare with the rest of the schools in the league.  I can imagine their fields getting worse since I left.  As long as the womens volleyball team is still good the athletic director will be pleased as punch.

Gettysburg has the best offense that  I have seen so far, but only the second game I have been to. Between Flynn (QB) and Sturgis they have a very strong ground game and a very good passing attack. The Defense sacked Hopkins quaterbacks 3 times. Yes Hopkins used 4 different men at that position. Gettysburg, to me so far, looks like the team to watch our for.
