Murphy,

Thanks for your kind wishes for the Mules.I spoke to my little Mule last night and he seems to convey a sense of focus on the part of the team that will see them
continue to play well in both this Saturday's traditional closeout, the Mule-Greyhound rivalry, and into the playoffs.
It would be nice to see the seeding take into account the Mules very significant games over TCNJ (15-0) and Union (34-0).
The Mules have a nice balance, with an incredibly motivated defense. Head coach
Donnelly calls the shots as defensive coordinator, and has done one hell of a job..
..so far.....don't let your son's plight, real or imagined, get to you..things work out over time

Muledaddy.

The mules were the best team I saw all year, devasting defense.  I really hope they do well in the playoffs and I would consider making the trip to see them play next week.

As far as my kid goes, I think everyone has had enough of that soap opera.

Root for the MULES.

People will do anything when enough money is on the table, therefore, WMC was changed to McDaniel, named for William Roberts McDaniel (President, professor, AD, coach, just about every important position at the school, and hefty philanthropist to the school...)  It was ignorance from people like "Splik" that also prompted the change...people thought Western MARYLAND College was part of the state's university (Which is in College Park, MD Splik, and no it isn't a big amusement PARK like you may think), also the geographic name confused a lot of people, after all, we're talking Carroll County, MD folks...Terrorizor will tell you all about it...

As for the Mules, haven't been into it as much this year but I will say I've hard nothign but good things from Allentown.  I'm still glad I didn't choose to go there, but hey, they're doin alright now.  Good luck to all those dads w/ sons out there playing in the NCAAs smartest conference...

CC12

I agree that Mitchell deserves the award, based off performance this year, but I would not be suprised if Sturges actually takes the award. Which I would not this to be the fairest decision, because would be based off performance in years past, along with age, which is not why the award is there. It should go to the best offense player this year. But Sturges will still recieve the award....go hounds

First Off, Eastern Maryland is where Salisbury is, McDaniel is located in Central to Western Maryland.  The town is Westminster, go to mapquest.  Not a fan of the name change either, that being said the demise of WMC / McDaniel happend with the name change, however during the McDaniel ERA they have had a top 5 ranked defense, been ranked in the top 25 on numerous occasions and won a share of the CC title.  Granted they are horrible now, but that is the result of a few bad recruiting years, and the loss of their talented coaches.  Here is the equation for a renewed success at McDaniel.....FIRE TIM KEATING, bring back AL THOMAS and BRAD FORDICE.

Pat Coleman

They've tended to move lower-seeded teams out of region but never a No. 1 seed.

Mid-ranked teams have been imported.

Interestingly enough, Muhlenberg is a mid-ranked South Team, undefeated at that, and owns wins over one East definite and another East possible.

Muhlenberg as the East #1, or #2, or #3 isn't out of the question by any means.  I don't even think it's a stretch.
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

Pat Coleman

It isn't a stretch at all if they were in the East, but in eight years, with 32 No. 1 seeds, the NCAA has yet to do it. And there have been years that were screaming for it -- always with a team moving into the East, oddly enough. :)

Just to throw my two cents into the McDaniel vs. WMC when I was being recruited there my admissions councilor said the name change had to do partly with where WMC fell in college books and lists.  Because it began with a W it was always towards the end of books or lists which prompted a desire to change the name to improve their position in those publications.  Looking back that seems ridiculous, but as a high school senior and recruit it seemed to make perfect sense.

BTEXPRESS

I will go with the theory that MCDANIEL sounds more PRIVATE than WMC, thus trying to attract more ACADEMIC like students. I am asumming the tuition has also gone up quite a bit since the name change and I am also assuming that admissions are harder now as well. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Football team is not getting the same kind of athletes they use to get prior to the name change.

GT97

BTEXPRESS you are spot on....i was recruited by WMC, applied to and accepted to WMC, but name was changed going into my first season in 2003...since that season, things were on the decline, and you are right, it's way too expensive now, standards have risen, and I think administration is perfectly happy with having a sub-par football program if it makes them look stronger academically, to compete w/ the Dickinsons, Gettysburg's, Muhlenburgs, Hopkins, etc...(all academically strong schools)...

Need to make my picks for the last week

Muhlenberg
Juniata
Franklin & Marshall
John Hopkins
Ursinus

Wish I had picked every week.  This was fun.
I'll need to be alert next year to get started on time.

Good luck to Muhlenberg in the play-offs.

Foot fan

Lets stop talking about Juniata and McDaniel and start talking about the teams that can continue playing after this weekend like Muhlenberg, Ursinus, Dickonson, Gettysburg.

Bring it, what do you have to say?
