In the month of May the VFW distributes Buddy Poppies.  Please take time to give a dollar and take a poppy.  The proceeds of this go to aid the Disabled Vets

In Flander's Field
by John McCrae
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw,
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.

Knight,

Got my  poppy  Saturday from the  vets at a local parade. From Flanders to Hamburger Hill to

Mosul , the price of freedom is paid.God bless you and all vets..I

know that I do what I can to honor all vets, and to teach my little Mule (football player) to do the

same. The Star Spangled Banner still has great meaning at the home of the Mules. May the value of freedom never be taken for granted.

Mates,

Isn;t it time for some preseason chatter, predictions, fortune telling, and general summertime fun........

.

100 days to camp and counting...?

Yeah, football season in Texas can be year-round, but it really kicks in after the 4th of July.

The Texas Rangers are on the edge of being mathematically eliminated from the Pennant Race.

The Dallas Cowboys go off to camp.

And, Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine comes out!  ;)

Saw on their football website that Juniata is bringing in 40 new recruits( that's almost half the current roster). I think they are the only Centennial Conference team that has released their incoming recruits so far.

muledaddy

BT,

Juniata has the right idea...they need some good rookie blood now to step up to speed with the rest of the conference, which is getting tougher each year.I can't waitt for the 100 days to camp......in fact,
i just can't wait till the end of June to get my little Mule and his Mule buddy back from study abroad down under...3 more weeks and counting

Meanwhile, the more I study last year's stats, the closer the competition looks for this year's  championship.golf

Staying healthy  and enjoying the summer are the immediate objectives.Trying to teach a Mule to
golf is always fun.

BTEXPRESS

Muledaddy, I gave up trying to golf about 5 years ago. If you only had to play 9 holes instead of 18, I think I could have been pretty good. Only have so many decent shots in my bag.( HA HA) Did the Mules start working on the new field yet?. Was in Carlisle last week and the renovations to Dickinson's field are going well. All the old grass is gone and it looks like they will be ready to go by the end of the summer.

Golf.. Play it every nice day we get in  MD.

Golf and football have something in common.

Both have goals in mind. You hit, run, or throw as far as you can on a playing field of grass(artifical or real) to get closer to your goal.

Football has defenders that keep you from scoring.
Golf has obstacles( trees, water, sand) to increase your scoring.

Golf is totally an offensive sport, but you want to keep your score low so you win.
Football has offense to score as much as possible with the chance of winning.

You have out of bounds in both, yardage markers, and spikes.

And so on and so on

Old Ends, Dickinson's plans look great. I heard there are are future plans to also redo the home grandstands and build a new locker room and new weight room sometime in the next few years. It is a great time to be a Division III athlete. Gettysburg is also in the process of adding on to their athletic facilities with a new pool, weight room and fitness center. The economy doesn't seem to be slowing down these schools with facility improvements, of course with the price of attending college these days, I guess the schools are in competition with each other to not only attract athletes but regular students as well to justify $40,000 and $50,000 a year tuitions.
