I think the Pioneer Press is having a writing contest for those that like to write columns!! ;)

OAS should remember he's among "friends" on the MIAC Conversations board, & treat them accordingly.  Not like what one can read about OAS on the MIAC football board.    ::)

Willy dropped a bone with a lotta meat on it & I had to gnaw away.    ;)

SUMMIT!!!!!

I expected Hamline to play tough last night and left Hutton VERY impressed with the team. They are a frontline player or 2 away from being a title contender, and I am confident Wohler will remedy that by fall. He as some very very talented kids there, and they are playing inspired & enthusiastic ball, something I haven't seen at HU in ages. Plus the fans-- while modest in size compared to GAC or SJU (in the day)- were vocal and added to a greatly improved atmosphre. I expect Hamline's 45 year drought of MIAC titles to end before the end of this decade.

It's hard to belive that Bethel has never won the MIAC and Carleton hasnt won it since 1922-23.

I've seen over 300 games that Fritz has coached....he's gone the gamut in terms of substitution-- anythig from the Iron 6 of 02-03 (Paulson, Sioris, Finn, Fitz, Sweeney and Marx) to a 9-10 man flowing rotation. He's had good success with whatever "length of bench" he has gone with. I think people are reading too much into his substitution pattersn thus far this year. Even abck in the early 90s when he went 8-10 deep consistently, Fritz started the season using a short bench... as he became comfortable with the bench players being able to fill their roles, their PT increased.

I've been a little disappointed that Tas and Worrell in particular havent played  and with the little playing time Peterson has been seeing, but fully expect those three along with Weaver to see a good deal of PT come January.

Heavily favored Tommies go nip and tuck with the Scots and the Pipes...

I predict GAC blows them out of the water--like a baluga's blow hole.

OAS - Questionable.

Drake - I'll respond tonight when I get the chance.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Just was wondering who was planning on going to the GAC/USt game tomorrow and what time we are meeting at Patty's?

TommieHoops4Life

PI,

I'll be making the journey down to St. Peter for the Gusties and Tommies. They finally get to face off sometime other than J-Term, which should mean a packed house at Gus Young! Now that I don't have to pay to get into MIAC games, I'll try to make as many as I can if work doesn't interfere. Name a time for Patty's and I'll meet you there. Where is Patty's? Email me your cell number if you want.

OAS
i didnt know talk of blow holes was allowed on this board :o

my prediction UST will be victorious
schimek will dominate down low and ike will step it up for the match and be big and strong J'son Stamper style...sweeny has the most arrowdynamic head in the MIAC now which will allow him to run past everyone and the pull up and hit 3s on 1 on 0 fast breaks like no ones business

Should be a good one tomorrow.

GAC wins by five- my prediction.

It's close all the way up until the end. Big game from Olson and TeBrake. Sowden is fairly quiet in the stats, but has to help put the clamps on Ike. Stein needs to come up big. Whippler needs to come up big.

I expect lots of points in the game.

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

Tommies and Gusties will go to overtime tomorrow. Ike, Shimek and Schnettler all need to have big games. Sweeney hits more big shots in the clutch. Tommies get the coveted win at Gus Young by five or less.

Russian Mig AK47

Sweeney has struggled at Gus Young in years past, but now he is more aerodynamic and that should allow him to break through.  Whippler will be a non-factor as he consistently is against UST.  Sowden will be in position to dictate the outcome of the game.  Depending on who guards him, Ike or Shimek, if he can draw early fouls on either it will change the complexion of the game in GACs favor. TeBrake will be held in check by Keating and Weaver, and likely have a lackluster game.  One of the last two times UST and GAC met Olson dropped treys like it was going out of style, so they would be mindful to keep an eye on him.  And finally, if Schnettler is hot the Gusties will need to find religion because only divine intervention will help them.

p.s. Be wary Gus Young crowd, applying a 'nerd' chant to a guy with a shaved head (who looks like someone straight out of American History X) could be a perilous venture.

QuoteWhippler (sic) will be a non-factor as he consistently is against UST.

What kind of non-factor are we talking here? A senior who starts but doesn't shoot/score/rebound and who dishes out an assists and turns it over once in 13 minutes of play? Or maybe one who comes off the bench for "0+" minutes and doesn't contribute a thing? Or maybe someone who doesn't even get off the bench?

Oh wait, those were Migs stats last year against GAC  :-*

Wippler's play will be crucial tomorrow night, as Stein has a tendancy to get into foul trouble. Sowden can play center and guard either of the bigs, but I'm not sure Wittwer has the bulk to consistently bang down low with Shimek and Ike. He'd be better off on Keating I think. Regardless, the battle on the boards will be huge.

PI and TH4L - I'm currently pondering my situation. My car has not exactly been reliable the past two days, so it will be touch and go. Sucks  >:(
