Since they are hosting a pod of 4, their 1st game should be played on Friday.

larry_u

It will probably be a 6 pm and 8 pm tip Friday night with the winners meeting at 7 Sat night.

Since my Lawrence squad got the shaft and has to go to Whitewater and play in that pod, I'll probably just stay home in the cities and check these games out this weekend at UST.  Should be a couple of interesting ones thats for sure.

Point is a very topsy-turvy team.  One game they play lights out amazing, the next sloopy and uninspired.  Chicago has the credentials beating some big teams, but has also lost to schools like Wheaton and barely beat Lake Forest.

It should be an interesting game there, and St. Thomas and BV should be a fun one too.

*knock on wood*

if UST could win its pod (which i think could happen at home; as long as we have al, the sky's the limit) what are the chances that it could host the next round?

Obviously if Augustana wins we don't have a chance - but would we be second choice?

It has happened in the past (the year James, Tauer & Longval led UST to the final 4), but the nCAA is trying to avoid that if at all possible. But with the airport (and maybe some cheaper fares to MSP than other possible sites) it could happen again.  The ALmighty $$ rules the NCAA at D-III level.

gustavus played BV very early in the season so a lot of things could have changed for both teams.

Unless one of our younger, more exuberant posters goes off, I don't think you'll see any bulletin board material on this board. But then again, it would make for an intersting week.   ;)

MIAC posters & players who've been around for awhile know quite well that the top of the IIAC is very, very competitive with the MIAC.  Coach VanHaaften has built a solid program in Storm Lake.

How about that regional at Augustana with Augustana, Aurora, Wooster, and Wash U?

Wow.

My thoughts exactly.

The NCAA does this every year...I guess we shouldn't be too stunned.  Whoever wins this "regional of death" is my favorite to make the Final Four.

Not only the really rough opening weekend, but the winner of that scrum gets whoever comes out of St. Thomas, Buena Vista, Chicago, and Stevens Point.

That's six top 15 teams in an 8 team section.  The least they could have done was swap one of those pods with one from the South.  It's not like the match-ups for sectionals matter since all four teams will be in the same place.

Yup, the Tommies have a challenging path if they are to get to Salem...but it is do-able, and could result in the Archerflop becoming a national craze and getting mention by Dickie V (I can almost hear him: "Hansborough does a poor imitation of that Archer kid")

UST has met up with BV before in the NCAAs... Im sure there is solid mutual respect between the two programs....looking forward to a great game!

maniac - good point -

any of you gusties, whats the formula for success on friday? (other than the hamm's)

• Have your shooters get hot at the right time (we have like 5 guys shoot better than 40% in our run)
• Have a couple role players step up
• Play smart, physical defense and finish the possessions — rebound
• Keep the turnovers down
• Don't get caught up in the moment
• Have a crowd that can carry you through the inevitable rough patches
• Don't listen to a word from the Big 3 ;)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

WOW

it got a little nasty in here...i feel it is my responsibility to break the tension with a very akward moment so here it goes

i have slipped out of my spandex racing suit and im standing in the nude

*akward silence with everyone staring at me nude*

ok...now that we got that out of the way i will put my spandex back on

VOJ
- yes your right i should have Brady B on that list so he is on it now...sometimes my thoughts run all over the place and i do not post everything i intend to when i start the post

as for the timberwolves announcers there is nothing more annoying than hearing them say "what a great pass by Bassy to the Rhino who thundered in for the lay up!"

1) In your resentment  list you forgot to include Russian Ak47.  I might also add both Ak47 & Snow are respected, recent former UST basketball players. And other posters have some type of connection to UST.

Drake - He did not forget to include me, that was intentional and done out of self preservation.  Nobody in their right mind would call out someone with a name like Russian Mig AK47.  Haven't you seen Eastern Promises!?

Maniac - Do you sit around and eagerly await the opportunity to reference Karnel and JT?  It kind of seems like you do  ::)

Tommiepitcher - Get another case of Hamms and let me know where you are sitting!

Wonka - I seem to recall briefly reading a statement from before the championship game that stated if the officiating was horrible you would be following the refs home and causing harm to them.  Since I am pretty sure every GAC supporter feels they have been slighted by the refs, I was wondering if you followed through with your word?

Mafia - How them tripple burgers and roller skates treatin' ya?  p.s. I don't think you nude creates any additional awkwardness for anyone.

mig - the hamm's will be located under the basket on the tommie side.  however, by game time, the trusty hamm's may have to give way to the freshmen year flask...

if this games outcome was based on team posters, we would be in big trouble

USTDynasty

I did indeed say "Bring It On" not insinuating a was trying to start a fight, but because I knew my post would bring a heated discussion in which it most certainly did.

I failed to mention Russian Mig AK47 because though he trashed on Archer a bit I very much respected his opinions.

A.O. Though you are going to try to group me as a fair weather Tommie's fan (I can't deny the fact that the St. Thomas fan base is a bit disappointing) But I did in fact make the trek to Bethel this year, and was one of a very small Tommie student section.  I was their for both the JV and Varsity games, and watched two impressive Tommie victories.  I am not trashing on Bethel in the least.  I really enjoy watching them play, and the combo of Madson, and Moberg will be very exciting next year.  I had the pleasure of watching Moberg all through high school, and will expect big things from the Bethel next year.  Also I would like to say that Bethel's student section is amazing and I loved the white out.

Drake Palmer  About your stupid comment that I should watch out, because some Gusties might beat me up or whatever you are insinuating is ridiculous.  Are you in 10th grade? I did not say bring it on in the direction of any GAC fans challenging them, I was interested in opening a discussion.

Abominable_Snowman  I disagree with you on your point that GAC has an equal or greater legacy than St. Thomas.  This is nothing against GAC I agree that their legacy is great, and have had a little better success in the post season lately than UST.  UST has 23 conference titles, to GAC's 16.  Thomas also has won 6 of the last 9.  Those numbers are very hard to argue with. One season is not enough to cement a legacy.  I am not taking anything away from the legacy of GAC, and enjoy watching them play.  I am a big fan of Jesse Van Sickle, and believe the Gusties should be pretty good again next year.

PTPer35  You have made no good point yet.  You must just sit on this site all day and look for people to fight with.  I will gladly argue things with you but first you need so say something of importance.  Go ahead and call me a tool all you would like, because I am doing nothing more than showing confidence in the program at UST.  Go ahead and battle me on something, but if you just want to sit around and complain like it really seems I am not going to listen.

Finally I apologize for using morons in my post.  If you are honestly offended by that you shouldn't be on here, and need to grow up.

Bring It On (Meaning a nice heated discussion for anyone confused by this)
