How many fans can you hold in your gym?  Is it normally a pretty packed house

I believe capacity is listed at around 2,400 for The Shoe. However, the announced crowd was 1,700 on Saturday night and it was basically SRO for most of the building. The entire stairway was even filled with fans in my section.

The UST crowd is notoriously late arriving...but that may change for this type of tourney atmosphere. I'd recommend arriving quite early if you want a decent seat, and expect to stand for the whole game — unless you sit behind the team benches, which I'd recommend for parents and the elderly.

MIG - Don't hang your head too low about that one. I'm sure you cheered your hardest! :-*
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Yeah thats pretty good size.  For the IIAC championship game it was listed we had 2600 for that game it was a great environment.  We will be there plenty early but with the game before BV/ St Thomas hopefully seats will open up fast for the second game.

A play in an almost identical situation put the Gusties in the championship game. Carleton missed the front end of a 1-1 leading by 3 with 11 seconds to play. The Gusties grabbed the rebound and took the ball straight down the court. The Carleton defense was scrambling trying to cover any shooters. They managed to contest Van Sickle's shot, but Robbie Schmidt was standing unguarded in the corner.

I'll take my chances against a disorganized defense any day.

Good point. Looking back on the Carleton, this could be Hansen's strategy. In regulation, he called time out with 12 seconds left and Drake at the line. The missed free throw lead to Van Sic's 3 at the end.

In the Aug - Bethel play in game, Bethel calls a timeout in order to set up Madsen with a decent look and it paid off.

Why does Baker start/play for the Tommies? It's not like he's a senior getting token time or anything. It almost makes me think he was promised a starting spot when he was recruited...especially after seeing him start and barely/not get off the bench in the second half twice against GAC this year.
I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and the only answer I got back was that Fritz did not want to alter his starting lineup even though a couple of guys have emerged that look to be better players.  I am guessing it has more to do with the other two being better coming off the bench instead of starting (nerves, opportunity to view how the inside is being ref'd or opponents are playing?).  He sure does not seem to ever get back in once he's taken out, so I guess the few minutes he plays are not a big loss.  Maybe he's the best at getting the opening tipoff.

Sigh, I don't post for a few days and get called out for being a moron? How long have I been away?

Now, my criticism of Archer goes towards what I see on the court. That is how he represents himself, as far as I can tell. Don't tell me how to make my own observations, all I can do is report on what I see. To me, the kid is a clown, ever since he blew a kiss to the GAC crowd back in their first meeting.

New guy- give me a break. If you want to debate, fine. Let's just not insult. You did little to incite any feelings of judgment or class with your first post. Sorry, this was late, but I just needed to get it out.

On UST in the tournament. I won't claim to know anything, because when GAC made it to the national championship, there was no way they were the favorite in any of the last four games, although they outplayed every one of those higher ranked teams. UST was a powerful force last year that looked better than that finals GAC team on paper, yet didn't go as far.

I guess my point is, although UST is not as stacked as they have been in the past, Scott could get hot and make every 27-foot three he shoots, and McCoy could do his little back down (apparently he can get it up over anyone a foot taller than him) all day. The tournament is so unpredictable that I will only go so far as to say UST shouldn't make it out of the first two rounds, but they have the capabilities to get hot and then the sky's the limit.

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

Dynasty - I'm glad to see you are being a little more reasonable with your posts (although the one about definitely can't believe was a tad confusing). Since I answered every one of your points directed to me and you claim I didn't make a single relevant point, I'll just take that as you can't respond and would like to move on...and I'm fine with that.

...enjoy your name calling and habberdashery.

Yeti - WOW, amazing word choice!  Had you somehow played habberdashery against me in scrabble... perhaps you would have enjoyed more personally favorable outcomes  ;)  BTW I am sure it hasn't escaped you, but scrabulous is available to play on Facebook now.  I will start up a game with you so you have something other than "work" to do during the day.  But mark my words, I didn't get to be 25-4 on accident... bring your A-game.

Mafia - slangin' weapons is a most dangerous trade... but they haven't gotten to me yet.  Just to be safe, I do sleep with one eye open.  Also, the Gophers are on their way up... I found a bit odd that the ESPN "experts" still have OSU on the bubble and there is no mention of the Golden Gophers - despite their better record, and the ease with which they dispatched the Buckeyes last weekend.  I guess it could be the cream puff schedule they played to start the season?

Drake - Yes, it is a bit off-putting to find out how small these actors/athletes are in real life.  I think I still assume when I see people on tv that they are larger than me.  Which for the most part is not the case.  I can still remember how devestated I was (shortly after Top Gun) when I found out that Tom Cruise was a minature person.  Of course that was before he became clinically insane, but that is another can of worms.  I was equally disturbed when I taunted Tiger Woods on the 8th green at the Bay Hill Classic back in 2003... turns out he is only like 5'11?!

Anywho, the point of my allusion to Eastern Promises was not to correlate myself with Tiny Viggo, but rather to point out the aura of lethalness associated with the Russian mafia.  Matter of fact, given the inordinate amount of airtime his man parts got, I think I should go out of my way to distance myself from Viggo!  There is nothing fierce about man parts flying everywhere... well not much fierce  :o

Speaking of man parts, I wonder when a certain poster with the initials of W.W (Willy Wonka) is going to man up, and issue an apology for several comments he made last week?

A mea culpa would go a long way in maintaining his credibility and reputation on the board as an outspoken straight shooter, who's not afraid to admit when he's right – or wrong.  ;)

Wonka - I did cheer my little heart out, but to no avail.  On the other hand, I did have a triple double in warm ups with 42 points (on 92% shooting), 34 rebounds, and 32 assists.  It was the best warm up (statistically speaking) of my career.

Wait, what? What am I supposed to be apologizing for?

The fact that one of my wrestling state champions was arrested the night after winning the title for allegedly stealing a car, destroying property and being ridiculously drunk?...

2) Who was the dude running around with his shirt off on the UST side?? Tell me it wasn't a poster from this board.....

i promise it wasnt me...i already had my brush with nudity earlier in the week when i tried to calm everyone down...it just made people more excited though

i would guess the UST fans would arrive early for the playoff game because they did last year...they are like the D3 version of the LA lakers fans minus the celebs

Seriously, how did the GAC women get in?

The GAC women's opponents had a higher winning percentage thus GAC played a tougher schedule according to NCAA rules and regs and had a win over UWEC which also made the field of 63...that was explained today in Frank's column...

J's are in the process of trying to replace the irreplaceable on the hardwood...lots of playing time up for grabs...oh and I reported this last week but it bears repeating, FOGT gets a medical redshirt...so he will be back next year.

I know there can always be an argument about who should have won what, but overall no that bad selections.  I would have personally liked to see Wittwer win the MVP or POY but Conboy had a great statistical season and Linz led his team from the basement to the playoffs.  Props to McCoy for the sixth man of the year award.

One question though.  Al won the sixth man but didn't even get on the honorable mention list?  I would have assumed that the sixth man of the year would at least be put on the honorable mention.  Didn't Fredrickson from BU get on both a few years back.  I don't know my history like some of you guys do so i was just wondering if this is normal or not.
