VOJ - I'll stay out of the CSN post season awards debate, but I believe CSN deliberately makes a distinction between POY – best individual statistical year, and MVP - the individual who best helped his team achieve success.  And success usually being defined as - a team that finishes in the hunt for a playoff spot.  Using those definitions as a guideline -  I don't think too many people would argue about Conboy's selection.  The guy had an awesome year. The MVP debate could go on all month.  ;D

Grats to the young men on their awards!

Just curious, if POY is best individual stats for the year, then why wasn't Johnson/Zorro the POY? He had Linz beat in everything, but blocks. Along with that, Johnson was fourth in steals and 10th in turnover/assist ratio. Senior gets the nod over a junior?

concordia of the north

Conboy got POY, Linz got MVP.

also Linz has a wallet sized picture of his girlfriend where his heart should be.

How'd ticket sales go?  Sold out on your end?  BV, SP or Chi send tickets back?  Full house?  Good luck to everyone, just a little more for the Pointers!  :D

I know BV sold out on their set of tickets and requested more but im not sure if they got any.  The thought was that Chicago wasn't going to use up all of theirs so they were there for other teams but im not sure how the rest of the teams ended up
You have ONE advantage over me.....you can kiss my a$$ and I can't!!

From UST web site:
A total of 200 tickets remain and will go back on sale Friday at 9 a.m. in room 220 of O'Shaughnessy Hall in the athetic department office. If any are still left later in the afternoon they will go on sale at the Schoenecker lobby at 5 p.m. There's a limit of four adult and four student tickets.

1. Johnson is a Jr. going up against a Sr.

2. i love zorro but the majority of the people who watch him play, probably voters included, absolutely hate the way he carries himself on the court.  i heard from many people how happy they were that johnson got his teeth knocked out earlier this year which is unfortunate

Where's Ike when you need him? I feel like he and McCoy could make the MIAC equivalent of this video...

it took months of work with barron to get him to flow so smoothly on the roller skates...i think The Real McCoy aka Dreds In Yo Face McCoy has more potential to pick up the moves faster...he is very nimble and graceful

That's a pretty strong showing considering the nearest school is 250+ miles away.  So I'm sure the games should be close to a sellout come game time.  Although not directly their fault, UST did their best to discourage walk up ticket sales on Thursday.  2/3 of the O'Shaughnessy parking lot was roped off for an admissions "event" that was going on yesterday.  As a result, there was quite a bit of jockeying for spots in the parking lot.  I was almost ready to do a 411 for Mig Ak47.  :o ;)   I'm sure the admissions activity was scheduled long before the selection of UST as a "regional" basketball game site.  Just seemed like bad timing on the part of the college.

An oversight on my part regarding a post of mine form several days ago – duh – I forgot to include Eric Clute of Hamline on my list for a prospective All FY team.  Pretty stiff competition for the All-FY team this year, but I'm still somewhat surprised Carter Biewen didn't make the team.  It doesn't happen often, but the MIAC league has named 6 players to the All- FY team in the past.

I'm sure Baron D. will have fine career in whatever areas he chooses to pursues in life after the NBA - coaching, gymnastics, rollerskating, restaurant owner & even acting.  Here's a clip TNT had on last year - Baron Take 2

Is that kind of like the man crush that Mike Golic (Mike and Mike in the Morning) has on Brady Quinn or is there another less public side to the C-Mob?   :) :P

WhatThe!

I agree on the Biewen oversight.  Maybe not an oversight but just tough luck due to a strong fy class.  Lucas Holland is another frosh with gaudy stats that didn't get the nod.  No argument with the 5 on the FY team but imagine having Biewen's stat line and not getting recognized:
265 pts (10 ppg), 4 rpg, 55% from 2pt, 43% from 3 pt (2nd in conf), 56-3pters (5th in conf), start every game on 3rd best team in conf and lead freshman in minutes played.

Or, imagine having Holland's stat line and not getting recognized: over 300 points (13/game), start every game, 41 3pters, 83% on free throws, 29mins/g.

These guys are more than 25% of the way to being 1000 point scorers and they can't make the FY team.

Throw in Cord's Karl Olson and Olmscheid as others that would have made it other years.  Heck, last year three of the five (Sutherland, Van Sickle, Baldwin)that made all fy didn't even start a majority of the time and averaged about 5ppg.

Overall, a great crop of freshman this year.  These guys will make plenty of noise the next three seasons.

Yeah, that's right, you and Tubby are tight.  How do you think his first year with the Gophs has gone?
