+k to Drake. Although he is wearing Mose's purple blinders - four of the top five dunks from UST?

PI - I saw every team in the MIAC play at least twice this season & and there were games when I wouldn't even see one dunk, let alone anything resembling a noteworthy dunk.  How many games did you see this year?   ;) If someone else wants to come up with a list be my guest.  Obviously I like UST,  but from my personal observations, they easily exceeded any other MIAC team for the most dunks this season.

Edit:  Clarification -  The descriptions of these dunks are from previous posts of mine from various games that I watched this season.  The only other "noteworthy" dunk that I commented on which I left out of the awards was a dunk by Rob Lang from Bethel.  In the exciting last regular season game against Augsburg, Lang got out on a fast break & threw down a nice, one handed flush.  The dunk was certainly solid enough, & came at a critical juncture during the game, but it wasn't anything you couldn't see at the Y over noon hour.  ;)

Two.

You would think the Baron would be up there. I think he had some noteworthy dunks described by LostProphet early in the year.

BTW, I'm just giving you grief. You could give all five top dunks to UST and it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

PI - you're slipping. Hamline AD to take Position at U of MN. Hunh? I'll need to find my photo for the Hamline revolving athletic administration door. If an individual is in the athletic director or related field, this seems like a good career move for O'Brien, but what does this say about Hamline?  It seems every spring/summer there's a major coaching position & now AD position change at Hamline.  I don't imagine this is the kind of publicity the Pipers want or need.

Makes you wonder if Coach Whitmore sticks around?

I'm not sure how I missed this.

I've known Dan since he started at Hamline - some people might not agree with how he works, but I can tell you there isn't a guy out there that is as passionate about the "W" as he is. Unfortunately, that isn't what Hamline is all about.

In his time, Hamline really has turned around a few programs, including women's hockey and basketball, as well as men's hockey. Even smaller programs like cross country, men's soccer and baseball has seen drastic improvements.

This sounds like a great opportunity for Dan. He unfortunately hit a wall at Hamline. There is no money there. Yes, the Pipers have done what they can at Hutton and Klas to make them better, but....there is definitely limitations between athletics and the admin. Plus, he's a fooball nut, so working with the Gophs should be great. O'Brien and Brewster - make sure the coffee is ready!

Congrats Dan (he's a board reader), thanks for everything you did and good luck.

In 3/11/2008 Charley Walter's Column
The Gophers director of football operations job that departing Hamline University athletics director Dan O'Brien has accepted pays $115,000.

I'd take that. That would be a nice raise from my sports editor job.

Granted i didn't get to see an array of dunks this year but DUNKujolic had at least three oops throughout the year.  One was pretty nasty and could probably be in the top dunks.  B. Hayes threw it up , after breaking his defenders ankles,to DUNKujolic and he had to reach back for it and he threw it down.  Unfortunately Hamline does not post pictures on their wed site like they used to so no pictures could be found.

By the way, where is Eric, i mean USTDynasty at these days.  He seems quiet ever since the Tommies loss?

Drake, I dig the awards.  Solid effort, solid results.

word on the street is SJU has the inside track on Eagan's 6'8 center who scored somewhere between 25 to 30 points in a losing effort against Apple Valley last night

Video killed the radio star.

I couldn't find a picture but... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o89SxoMvSbw

Alright, based upon a late entry, the judges' panel has re-evaluated their choices for top five MIAC dunks for the 07-08 season.  PTP - Young man, next year get your entry in on time.  ;D

Rules of the game - #33: Unless you do something spectacular (like have a guy draped all over you), a standard run of the mill fast-break dunk ain't gonna cut it. (Sorry Bethel's Rob Lang) You need to have a little flair, hang from the rim, swing your legs a bit etc.  All of these top five dunks do that & more.

#1 A Viau from Above

Tied #2 One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest & The Halvorsen High Step-Drop Step
Carleton's Bryan Rosett over SMU's Dan Cormier

(In both dunks, the shot was contested & the big fellas dunked over their man.  :o 8))

#3 The Seal & Slam
Augsburg's Femi Solaja

#4 The Bookends
UST's Scott & Viau

Do they not have breakaway rims at St. Mary's?  Rosett was hanging like a monkey and the rim didn't seem to do anything.   Either Rosett is 85 lbs soaking wet, or I couldn't see the rim snap due to the poor quality of the video.

*edit---it probably was the video that fooled me at first---the benchies for carleton were spinning in circles after seeing their first dunk ever, and it distracted me from watching the rim snap a bit.

You sound a little derogatory with your comment there AO.  Should we dig up some game footage from your playing days?  ;)

Cute PI.  This from the man who didn't have my back last year when I was raving about Baron's dunk over the Gusties.  ::) ;)

There will be plenty of minutes up for grabs next year...3 seniors out of the starting lineup the youngsters will get their shot but it looks like Fogt, Stiller, Isetts and Budach will be the only upperclassmen seeing time...

I know the J's have been very busy getting out to see the preps...

gacbacker - Yes, it's clearly a travesty that Duke didn't get all the calls on its home court while Hansbrough got everything to go his way  ::)

Hope you enjoy the new picture  :-*
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Good luck with that.  There are plenty of AO's dunking on youtube, but it might be a little more worthwhile to look for Stephen Hanson throwing down for Northwestern.  The best d3 dunker in Minnesota does not play in the MIAC.
