Now that the state HS basketball tournament is over, I thought it would be helpful if we started a post listing HS seniors and their possible college choices.  I would expect over the next month or so we'll have a flurry of activity, taper off over the summer months and pick up again next fall.  I'll try to keep the list updated as we move throughout the year.

The following list of players and info I pulled from the MBCA (MN Basketball Coaches Association) site and MN Preps.

Forty of the state's outstanding senior boys basketball players will compete in the 26th annual Minnesota High School All-Star Basketball Series.

Doubleheaders will be played Friday, April 4th at Halenbeck Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University and Saturday,
April 5th at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St.Paul University in St. Paul

Friday's event will be tipped off by a contest between the Blue and Gold teams at 7:00 p.m.
The Maroon and Green teams will culminate the evening's activities with an 8:45 p.m. contest.

Saturday's schedule will include games at 2:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Three point shooting and Dunk contests will precede each of the games both dates.
Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $5 for students (5 & under are free).

*** Selections were made from nominations provided by each athlete's coach (must be a member of the MBCA) and includes athletes who are available and have committed to participate in the event. ***

VOJ - I'm going to assume you meant you'd take Tyler over Beasley and/or Rose to win a COLLEGE game. If you meant you'd take him over them in the NBA draft...you're crazier than I thought.

Beasley and Rose are the clear-cut Top 2, no matter which teams are drafting there.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

i think davidson should have ran 4 low with Curry bringing the ball up....he was moving the ball up pretty fast and Rush was going back pretty fast...he would have had more room to opperate...that way he could pull up for 3 if Rush gave him too much space...or he could have drove him hard to the elbow for a step back J...if he was over playing him high drive him all the way to the rim and go for the layup and maybe get a foul or a bounce pass to a big man of a layup....i thought the pick and roll just made everything too cluttered

Agreed Wonka, in a college game Psycho T would be my first pick, but in the Pro's Tyler is going to struggle a bit, where Rose and Beasley will improve and become stars.

A very comprehensive list Drake!

First off I can add a few more college selections to your list.

Theo Rothstein, St. Michael-Albertville - St. Cloud State
David Hanson, Maranatha Christian Academy - Cal Poly
Leif Nomeland, Osakis - Augustana College
Tyler Schilling, Minnetonka - St. Michael's College (Vermont - Division II)
Nick Haugen, Rockford - Univ. of North Dakota

As far as Cody Schilling of Ellsworth goes, I was informed at the state tournament that it will be either Northwestern College in Iowa or Augustana.  Winona State is third on that list and unlikely because of the distance from his home.

I also have a question for you about some of the college selections you listed.  Where did you hear about Jake Lindstrom and Taylor Hall going to Bemidji State?  If true, that's a great thing for the Beavers!  Mr. Lindstrom can really shoot the basketball, although I'm not familiar with Mr. Hall so someone on this board will have to tell me what kind of player he is.

I will have to put in a call to my northern friends up that way and check for you on this pair.  Keep up the great work my friend :D

We'll have to do some looking up on the seniors, but the only kid from the Hutch area is Ben Aafs - Wisc.-Superior.

Cole Schlauderaff (6-6 center) from GSL also was getting some looks. Reed Sallstrom from GFW - haven't heard anything on him either.

great idea Drake.

How'd I miss this guy?? The name alone has to be worth something.

Brommer from Rosemount is going to Iowa, and Fong and Jaryan are going to St. Olaf. Tankson is playing in this? I thought the hype on him was that he was only a junior, but I must be wrong.

Wonka...yea I think Tyler is the guy in a college game...Beasley, Rose and Love all have games that will flourish in the NBA...T.H. will have to work for everything he gets at the next level...

You guys seeing this? I wonder if it is specific to our board, I'd guess not.  UST representing with the Reeal McCoy!!

Interesting career moves...

*I noticed in the paper today that Travis Feezell, the AD at Macalester is stepping down after a 3-year run to become an associate professor of sports management at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.  I'm guessing he'll be missed at Mac, he did good things in the short time he was the AD.

*Why in the world would Tom Crean leave Marquette for Indiana?  I've got my opinions, but this seems like a lateral move to me.

*Oles hire former Wisconsin Steven Point assistant football coach, Jerry Olszewski, as new football coach.

I say "hmm" to all of these moves.

My .02 is Indiana would be a step up for Crean. I think the Indiana program has a much better pedigree than Marquette. At Indiana he will eventually have an opportunity to play (coach) for a national championship. I am not sure that is the case at Marquette.

McGuire won at Marquette, why couldn't Crean?

The IU job is too good to pass up though, although Crean did turn down Illinois when Self left for Kansas.

(yeah, new poster here. just heard about this board)

Interesting spelling of your first name Cholcolate, is that by design?  ??? ;) At any rate - welcome aboard.

DP,

I don't know what Crean was making at Marquette, but his deal at Indiana was 7 or 8 years for 2 million per year... Money talks. Indiana needs a younger, energetic coach who is passionate about the game, and that's exactly what Crean is. Say what you want about Bob Knight, but the biggest mistake the Hoosiers ever made was getting rid of him.
