While scanning the D3 MIAC football board,  I stumbled upon this nice human interest story about former St. Marys' basketball coach - Mike Trewick.

That is a great story. Thanks for letting us know.

If this is a repeat, I apologize....but, heard new SMU Coach Landrum is bringing his son with him as an assistant coach......who is currently an assistant at River Falls.

DP, I'm not even sure that qualifies as "news"! ;) Thanks for trying to put a spark to the board! Taken in any summer league games yet or is it too early?
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Sum -  One of our rabid Johnnie posters seems to think I drink UST purple kool-aid as much as he drinks cardinal red kool-aid (He's also nutz by the way  ::) ;)).  In part I posted this article to show I truly am a fan of the league.  So far during the off-season I've posted articles or links to Johnnies' golf, Tommies' baseball, former St. Marys' basketball coach & now a cute, cloying piece about a 5-year old & his loyalty to the Cobbs.  I should tell Mose I want to officially change my name to MIACManiac or at least MIACsuperfan. 8)

No, I haven't seen any summer league games yet.  In fact, I don't even know when they start.  I'll have to put my ear to the ground & check out what's going on.  I know they usually have a league at Bloomington Jefferson HS in the summer, but I don't believe that starts until the middle of June.

Have the courses finally opened up in the nortlands?

Courses finally opened for good a while back. Our CC is in tough shape though. Lots of winter kill. I have only played a couple of times. My spring has consisted of more "watching" golf than playing golf. Waverly Iowa is beautiful this time of year! ;)

That sounds strangely familiar to me. I wonder if Kel knows that guy :P

As Drake has shown he can gather news from all around the MIAC, Wonka will attempt to show the esteemed jury that he can gather dirt with the best of them, no matter the school. It's football related, but I'm sure most of you can appreciate the, uh, humor. Enjoy!! :)

The weekend may be dead around here with fishing, weddings and golfing to be done...but I can't help but pass along this hilarious Ole info I stumbled across through a current player.

1. Deontae Hutchins didn't play against rival Carleton this year. I don't recall the exact timing, but I believe many attributed it to the injuries he battled through most of the year. Not true, according to my Ole friend.

Hutchins punched out RJ "That's how RJ does it" Jackson at a house party a while back and was banned from Carleton's campus. Apparently, this included the football field.

Jackson, who was out cold after the punch, got his sweet revenge, however. He tracked down Hutchins' girlfriend's phone number and sent her multiple, um, suggestive text messages that may have included phrases like "a real man." The GF promptly showed Hutchins, who rounded up his entire Florida posse to make an angry run through Carleton's campus. Their Ole teammates got word of said plans and cooler heads prevailed — by separating the group through LONG drives around the city of Northfield. Who knew Malt-O-Meal had sedative powers?

It's almost a shame that the Oles have some good character people...cause that potential rumble sure would have spruced up the Goat rivalry!

2. One of the characters St. Olaf interviewed for its football position was some cat from Carthage College. Apparently, Greg Etter straight up told the hiring committee that Olaf's rigorous academic standards didn't allow him to recruit the athletes he needed to "run his system." I'm not going to make any dramatic conclusions about his statement, but I can confirm Carthage had numerous non-white players on its basketball team a few years back.

He was basically laughed out of the room...but later hired by Concordia University (Wisconsin). I wonder if they got the memo about that statement...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Very relevant.

I've seen the auggies at csc.  Nice to see that they are working together this summer, looks like the team core is forming good chemistry.

otherwise...

I'll be starting my summer officiating tour for HS.  I have a 'south of the river' tourney coming up, some games at eastview, and aau later in July.

Sheesh Willy, your first anecdote was low-class entertaining, but your 2nd point --what was the point?? Not much "uh,humor" to be gleaned from that story.
