Drake - If I told you that I knew who this "athletic D2 transfer to shore up the troops at Snelling & Hewitt" was, would you laugh ;)  I hope the Pipers land this young man because I think he could really help them have success next season.

Not much else to report.....

Knowing what I think I know ::) it wouldn't surprise me if you just might know who this potential transfer player might be.   ;)  PM me his initials & I'll tell you if we're thinking about the same player.

I've also heard, but not been able to confirm that "30 year old" Bobby Harris formerly of St. Cloud State, MCTC & Mounds View HS has been spotted running with the Dawgs in summer league.  Actually, Harris is about 23 - 24.  ;D

So what transfer are the Pipes getting?  Any last minute recruiting news out there??

Where's Andy Burns-Pg from Minnetonka? I heard he was headed for St John's.

Local, Drake - this supposed Hamline transfer isn't the same person to have been rumored to be running with the Dawgs is it.

Uh, no.  ;)

The rumored Augsburg transfer is Bobby Harris who has been out of basketball for a couple of years. He was an All-Stater at Mounds View, attended St. Cloud State on a basketball scholie for a year & then was over at MCTC.  I think Local might be more tuned into what's happening at Augsburg than I am.   Or is anyone attending any of the summer league games who can provide some updates?

unfortunately, my only report is second-hand. ...and it's pretty low quality. but for the sake of keeping the board inching along during summer doldrums

from the bloomington league, miac teams are running with only 5 or so guys.  each night

did we have that many seniors graduate?  or are there just so many fys coming in that they don't have connections to get into the leagues yet?

SUMMIT!!!!!

I poked in at Bloomington this past Sunday for the 6:40 games... UST,  Augs and GAC had 7-8 players each. The last time I'd stopped by there, Carlie had 6-7 guys and Bethel had an army-- probably 10. I believe Harris was playing-- smooth player! The Augs looked good, as best as can be judged from summer league play. Good to see the "Supreme Poohbah" of the league there too as well as a few coaches, parents & hardcore fans.

Joe Scott had a nice game tonight in the pulley league.  He was the easily the best outside threat on the floor.

How many St Olaf people are going to make it to the SMSU game on Halloween?

Does he have one or two years left at UST? Whatever, he should be one of the top players in the MIAC. Friend of mine saw him play in the Pulley Pro City....said he's gotten much stronger and is a superb shooter.

Hands down, UST will win another conference and playoff championship(s).

I understand Bobby is enrolled and set to play. Augsberg could have a very nice year. Polta from Spring Lake Park is another nice addition.

There's no reason UST should not run away with the title. I don't think you'll find any rational arguments against that statement — at least until the season starts :)

Expect STO to travel some parents to the game at SMSU...and that's it. It's following is pretty sparse.

GAC may have found a nice recruit in Ryan Nett out of Illinois. I can't find any relevant stats online, but he's apparently a fairly skinny 6-6 post who was recruited fairly heavily by CCIW schools. Multiple all-conf awards and academic all-state as a senior. Relative of the legendary (or so I'm told) Winona Cotter coach. Had a cousin who played ball at Winona State a few years back. Good bloodlines, if nothing else.

I don't have names — and they may also have been posted already — but I believe the Gusties will be counting on a 6-6 post from Edina and a 5-10ish guard from Montevideo to contribute right away. I haven't seen either play, so I can't comment on their skills. Or lackthereof.

Go Twins!
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

May not be a rational argument, but last year the definitive pre-season favorite was Bethel.  And they failed to deliver.  Look out for up-and-comers and possible suprises around the league!

Which ones? Nett is from a rural part of the state that is typically only worked by three CCIW schools (Augie, Illinois Wesleyan, and Elmhurst), and I haven't seen or heard his name come up in recruiting reports or conversations. Not that I'm saying that he wasn't pursued by a CCIW school or two, but I'm wondering which ones, or how heavily.
