CM....instead of cookies, I put out a fresh triple burger (home made, none of this Wendy's stuff!) for Santa and he left me 3 extra presents!

Merry Christmas to all you roundballers...drive safe and have a wonderful Christmas Holiday Season with your respective families!

UST/UWL Game -

Extremely poor performance by the Tommies.  They were outworked and outenergized, especially on the wings from what I hear.  I don't like to get in to the business of making excuses, but being idle for 14 days (many of those days without even practicing), riding a bus for 2 hours, and then playing a hot team -- is not a recipe for success.  That being said, I definately still expected a lot more.  Tommies have struggled mightily against UW teams for the past several years.  I think the WIAC did away with their freshman red shirting, but I think overall they are still a much bigger and stronger league.  They certainly have played more aggressively than UST the last couple seasons.  Weaver was sidelined with a tweaked back, they certainly could have used his ability to get in the lane.  Peterson has to start being more active when he gets in the game, they need his spark.  Sounds like Fritz sent a message to his starters by sitting them down with the game still in reach in the last couple minutes, hopefully that will light a fire in them and they can move forward from here.

cobbernation

I am new to the D3 hoops site, I am a lot more interested in the football sort of things.  But since the season has gone, the bball season is just beginning.  Cobbers took a big hit with Eckoff out for the year pretty much means that the cobbers were ready to compete at the top of the conference and now will have to work hard just to earn a playoff spot.  No one can replace Eckoff.  Some of the bench guys need to step up fast.  But the bench doesn't go to deep.  We will just have to see what the new year brings, just no more injuries.  That's all I got.

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy....how does a nice guy like you get a karma rating of minus 9?

No way! Johnnies and Gusties are tight!

In fact, I just gave Willy some karma this morning after I noticed the same thing. Must be Tommies that don't like you, Willy.

Johnnies lose at Hawaii Pacific 79 - 62. Here is a link to the H-P website that has a short story on the game. Box score was not availalble yet.

Looks like some of the Johnnies were still suffering from jet lag. Henrichs, Ohme and Lieser were a combined 2-16 in the first half. Westman and Schafer were 7-8.

Westman has a decent game coming off the injury 30 minutes, 14 pts, 3 reb.

We will see how they fare against Chaminade this afternoon.  Chaminade is 5-4 on the year with losses to MSU, Kansas and Maryland!

Thanks to the music program at St Olaf College.  While traveling on Christmas Eve, I heard the St Olaf Christmas Festival performance via American Public Media.

http://americanpublicmedia.publicradio.org/programs/st_olaf_xmas/

It was as fine a performance as I have heard over the airways.  I can see why it is one lottery ticket to covet in the state of Minnesota.  It must be spectacular to hear in person.

I wish each of you a very Happy New Year, but thank St Olaf for the reverent hour we spent together that Christmas Eve afternoon. :)

Johnnies lose to Chaminade 95 - 70. Westman is the leading scorer with 13. Craig Schafer is the only other player in double figures with 10. Sounds like the Johnnies were tired. 17 players saw the court. Starters only saw 20-23 minutes of PT. Now it's R & R time and getting ready for UST on the 4th.

The MIAC is overated!  I respect the success the Gusties and Tommies have had through the years................however, the WIAC has been more consistent in all sports!  Save for of course the Johnnies success on the grid iron.

I'm not surprised that LaX handed it to St. Thomas.  I wonder if that's a home and home?  Do the Eagles have to travel to St. Puul next year?

And by the way, I think the MIAC is really down this year.  I expected SMU to be absolutley brutal, and here they're 2-1 going into the Christmas break and St. Thomas throttled Gustavus in St. Peter just before the holidays. This league appears to be wide open.  Who else will compete after the Tommies and Gusties.  Looks like a cake walk through the MIAC tourney for the Tommies.
