QuoteI dislike posters using anonymous names, especially if they don't do their homework or just rip players and coaches for the joy of it.

I always love that one.

PI - Agreed. I wonder if that's given Drake pause in responding to all the info Gene provided. Usually he'd jump all over all those goodies...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

There's a difference between "anonymous posters who don't do their homework & rip players & coaches for the joy of it," & credible, anonymous posters who do their homework & research.  I challenge anyone to point out when was the last time I was on the board just ripping on somebody for the sake of being malicious.  I have usually done more than my share of research & stats compiling to support whatever positions I'm staking out, or defending.  What dirt I do get I usually try to funnel to you younger posters so you all can post it.  ;D And besides, I've met & know several posters on this board, (this will kill him) including an introduction with one of the elders of the board - Mose.   ;D

Excellent piece!  +k

Next time you talk to the guy, can you ask him to turn the purple off on the school's website?  I hate trying to read articles, stats and box scores through dark purple.  It drives me nuts.

Agreed 100% Nites.  Speaking of Nites,  who knows who Nites really is? Or funbballer, BBTOmmie, MIACsuperfan, Chariman Yao, SJU4life, HoopsPHD, or others that have been known to post on the board more than once or twice? So there, now will you get off my coconuts.  :-* :-* ;D  And how could I have forgotten - Local, harryDh, Hoopmaster, Teardrop & many others.

And doing the back to back post thing. The point of my earlier question of the day is what VOJ stated in his earlier post:

Quote from: VOJ on January 27, 2009, 04:09:22 PM
...As someone who has been around some great post-season runs...two championship game appearances in football and many trips to the final four in football and one trip to the Sweet 16 in hoops...a post-season run is remembered much more than "hey we were number one and then lost to Bethel"  A 5 game winning streak in the playoffs and  pushing Mount Union to the brink... or in the case of 2003 pushed them all over the field...to sum it up its priceless

We have all lamented, or made fun of, depending on your point of view the Toms inability to get out of the their own gym, it would be nice to remember a post-season run like the Gusties had, and see them represent the conference...
Personally, for me D3 ball is just a real joy to watch. I can work late & at the last minute decide, "hey you know what, Augsburg is playing UST."  And for 10.00 or less, I've got a ticket, program, popcorn, & a pop or water. I can sit as near or as close to action as I would like & in my opinion, D3 is great sports entertainment value.

I've been accused of being a Tommie booster, & yeah, I'd admit that I like the Tommies (& I have other personal favorites - depending upon the year), but it also helps that UST is located in St. Paul, as I happen to live & work in St.Paul - most days.  UST happens to win alot, they play an entertaining style of basketball, & over the years I've known a handful or so of their players. Just like I've known a smaller handful of players on other teams primarily on the metro MIAC schools. So that's as much of an admission as you'll get out of me today.  ;)

.... and then there are some us, who just aren't that bright.  That's a bargain.  Even worse, consider this sickening thought.  What would it cost for me to watch 10 games a year live?  Round trip airfare of say $300-$350, a hotel room at $100, $10 for the game, some grub and a little cab fare (unless you'd give me a ride) of $50-$100.  Let's round it up to an even $500.  At 10 games, that's $5K.  Instead, where do I choose to spend some of my entertainment dollars?  How about gutless Cowboys and their brand new Jerryland stadium in Arlington.  Let's see, that's 4 personal seat licenses at $16K a piece, giving me the right to buy season tickets for 4 club level seats at $340 per seat per game for 10 games (required  to buy those 2 worthless exhibition games with the season tickets to watch some guys you'll never see again).  Hmmm, $16K x 4 x $340 x 10 x 4 = Where's the bargain?
??? :P

So Drake how many times have you and I met...and of course I had no idea you were who you were...

So was the "Shadow" your favorite radio super hero growing up?

I would think we could set up an MIAC championship pregame party at o'Gara's or somewhere like that if the game is played in the cities...that would allow us all to meet, in fact I would buy the first round...

TearDrop

WOW!! So much catching up to do. I don't check the board for one day and I am this far behind!! Too bad there is not D3 application for my blackberry ;) Facebook is really on to something there  ;D

As for the Tommies chasing their perfect season.... I think that the whole "lose a game" and win more in the tournament applies more to teams that have less experience and younger players. St Thomas has a lot of veteran players and also a very deep bench. Every player on that team has been bounced from the tournament "early" and that experience will help them advance further in the tournament this year. I have not seen them play this year but anybody that I have talked with tells me that they are head and shoulder above anyone else in the league. To argue against the lose a game theory a little more, wouldn't a team play that much harder knowing that they have an undefeated record on the line??

Many of those on these boards already do such a thing in the parking lot before the game — cmob, PI, TH4L, Johnnie Red, oAs, etc. I believe the Honorable JR has been providing the Stiffy burgers since the 2003 title game, though attendance has been sparse of late. He's also run into conflicts with having the state wrestling meeting on the same day.

You know what might be best about my blog? That "feedjit" thing along the right side that says where all the readers are from. It's got the usual suspects from St. Peter, Northfield, St. Cloud and Minneapolis/St. Paul...but also some characters from Chicago, Hancock (Iowa) and another guy from Texas who somehow managed to either change or delete his name from the tracker...is that you, Nites?

I did read it yesterday and I just popped on again, but as for changing or deleting anything, that wasn't me.   Good blog though.
