Quote from: Willy Wonka on January 30, 2009, 01:09:33 PMI broke my foot. The doctor called it "worse than the normal Jones fracture," for whatever that's worth. Got a plate and four screws yesterday, bringing my bodily total to 8 screws now.

Eight screws? Plus a plate? For crying out loud, Candy Man, if they stuck a propeller up your butt you'd be a battleship. ;)

That one got me and I'm still laughing.  +k Greg

You can bust my balls, Jerome Williams may break my ankles...but Nites will never sink my battleship :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Sheesh!  Looks like Greg is trying out his material for a new comedy show in the event his gig on Jeopardy doesn't pan out.  I almost spit up laughing on myself. +K

Willy - I made the mistake of turning on ESPN around 6:30 this morning to catch the Nadal-Verdasco semi-final score & got sucked into watching 2 more hours of that marathon 5+ hour match!  That was great tennis.  It's been a scramble at work ever since.  My plan for Saturday is to go to bed around midnight & set the alarm for 5:30 & hopefully catch the last set & ½ or so.  Then maybe go back to bed.  Fortunately, the Super Bowl is scheduled relatively early Sunday night; otherwise I'll be exhausted on Monday from doing all of this intense "spectating" this weekend. ;)

Does anyone know the status of Carleton's Blaise Davis?  He has been out the last 2 games.  Will he play tomorrow?

Nites - I'm a purist.  I don't do Tivo, VCR, the Comcast thingy, DVR, no nuthin.  Especially if I know beforehand what the result was.

But being the tennis afficionado that I am, I get a sports package with my cable tv that includes the Tennis Channel.  If the Nadal-Federer Aussie final is anything like the '08 Wimbledon final, they'll show it around the clock for several weeks straight.   ::)

SUMMIT!!!!!

The Hoosiers were one of the toughest teams for me to classify. They have the most storied program in the league, but might be in the worst position of all the schools right now. If Bobby were still at IU, I could see the Hoosier/GAC comparison — Hanson is basically his mirror image, right? But Indiana has been in constant turmoil since Bobby got canned...and Hanson runs a pretty steady ship.

I broke my foot. The doctor called it "worse than the normal Jones fracture," for whatever that's worth. Got a plate and four screws yesterday, bringing my bodily total to 8 screws now. Is any non-tennis fan more excited than me about Nadal/Feddy playing for the title at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning? I doubt it.
I think thats 9 screws counting the one they're doing to your wallet  :)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Guess you'll think twice before kicking the water cooler again. . . ;)

Mike Davis appeared to be a pretty classy guy.  IU was certainly better off with him than with Sampson.  Davis has done a decent job at UAB.

IU will be even better with Crean. it will take him a couple of years to restore the luster, but he is the best choice for it

Back injury...very touchy injury

Coming down the home stretch, a month to go and a lot could change...who is the most likely candidate to come through and finish strong and who will fade away.  i have to say St Olaf has been close, will Fong emerge as the person to carry them forward?  Can Concordia put something together? Are the gusties or johnnies going to not be in the top 6?  Stayted tuned folks

For now, enjoy some yummy snacks this weekend!

Gustavus is up 2 games on SJU, 3 on Olaf and 4.5 on Concordia, Hamline and St. Mary's in the "race" for the #6 seed. With 8 games remaining, the Gusties are positioned solidly to earn the #2 seed and get a first-round bye. Slipping out of the playoff picture is technically possible, but I'd be shocked if it happens — and the SMU AD would then be able to laugh in my face, which wouldn't be fun :-[

St. Thomas celebrated 100 years of intercollegiate athletics in 2003-04. The Gusties are doing the same this season on the hardwood. I'm hoping to provide relevant memories and history in the week leading up to next Saturday's festivities before and after the game against Hamline.

Honestly, my first thought when I read the definition was that you were talking about CMob chasing Boombalahties on his roller skates....  :-*   Okay, maybe not the destroy part....    8)

I think we need further research into that, since Wonka has actually seen CMob on his skates chucking down burgers...maybe he can catch up with a Boombalahty that has been pursued by CMob...

Big Saturday of Hoops fellas...Johnnies at St. Mary's...Auggies invade St. Olaf, Carleton at the rejuvenated Pipers, Concordia at Bethel(break out the shoulder pads for this one) and Mac gets the Toms at home...

Hey Cardinal supporters who post..I will be courside in Winona if you want to introduce yourself...

I wish I could say that I would be able to come introduce myself but I have been traveling a lot lately and will once again be out of town for tomorrows reunion game with Coach Trewick and SMU. I am not sure if he will be there or not but I would love to see how awkward it would be between him and the SMU AD!! If I am not mistaken the johnnies have not played their best basketball when making the trip to winona. It could be a good one!!

Tear, You are correct about the recent history of the J's  when they venture to Winona. They won there last year by 3. Prior to that they had lost two in a row in Winona. Should be interesting.

J's sitting in the #6 spot on the playoff bubble. STO at 5-7 is only a game behind, and gets the J's at home on Wednesday night!

MIAC game of the day taking place in Arden Hills? Sounds like Fraase is still banged up for the Cobbs but will play.
