The manifesto doth prevail.  HU over Concordia, 68-56 behind 25 points from Carl Hipp.

Carl "Hippnotic" Hipp was a beast today. CC didn't have an answer for him at either end of the floor. The Pipers pretty much controlled the entire game. Yesterday, Dan Andersen, one of Whitmore's supposed "inferior" recruits caused all sorts of problems for the Knights in a close loss. The Pipers have won 3 of 4 and are a much improved team. Hopefully they can cause some problems for a few playoff teams down the stretch here to make things interesting.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin' back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" .....Jesus Shuttlesworth

I gotta run & try my hand at this snowshoeing "thingy"

Where the heck are you snowshoing at 7:00 at night?

Question of the day.... Are the Gopher's better off or worse off Going into East Lansing on Wednesday night, being the Spartans got beat yesterday at home?

I guess some of the x-c ski purists get a little hacked off when clumsy rube snowshoers like myself come clumping along on their trails so, plans were switched up.   I ended up trying to impersonate Rafael Nadal on the tennis courts Saturday night & Paul Bunyan on snowshoes Sunday afternoon.  Two beautiful winter days made me forget about the Cobbs Pipes pickem Sunday game too. Re: the Gophers.

In either situation the Gophers were going to have their hands full with Michigan State.  Do you think Tom Izzo is going to be steaming bit?

QuoteThe back-to-back home losses are the first for Michigan State since December 1997 and the first in conference play since January and February of that year.

"You win at home because you work," Izzo said. "You don't win at home because you're supposed to. It's an entitlement society, and I think our players kind of feel that way."  :o ;)

Izzo didn't know much about Morgan's condition, except that he couldn't contribute much with what began two weeks ago as a viral infection.

"It's a season of I-don't-knows," he said of a series of injuries and sicknesses. "But some time, when we get everyone back, we're going to be a good basketball team, a real good team."

It should be a good barometer of how much the Gophers have improved since the beatdown the Spartans laid on them in Williams Arena.

Double play...

Nice win by the Pipes over the Cobbs yesterday.  I'm also surprised by Carl Hipp's individual performance.  There must be something about the match up with the Cobbs' post defenders that bring out the best in him.  In their previous meeting Hipp had a double–double as he scored 14 points with 10 rebs.  On Saturday Hipp really struggled against the Carleton defense with foul trouble & had a difficult time finishing around the hoop. 3-10 FGA, 6pts, 6 rebs, 4 fouls in 18 minutes.

Q&A up with Augsburg's Jon Cassens. A couple points of interest...

• He really doesn't like Bethel, especially Tim Madson.
• He's struggling with his shot right now.
• He loves Accounting and Finance, two topics that make me snooze.
• He promised to let my Gusties win tonight.

Ok, he didn't say the last one...but I wish he did.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

At 4,900 acres, Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, Champlin and Dayton, is the largest park in Three Rivers Park District. The park features miles of hiking and biking trails, an upland swimming pond, children's play area, picnicking sites, an archery course, an off-leash pet exercise area and more.

I'll bet it was a treat for you to run free for a bit.    :P ;)

"Cobber coach Rich Glas gets some love from the Strib. I can understand the appeal — a long-time coach returns to his roots at the "purest" level of play — but is this really the best story the MIAC has to offer? He ran his best player off before the season started and has underachieved, according to the preseason MIAC coaches' poll (picked 5th, currently tied for 8th). I'm also surprised Reusse used the kid gloves when discussing his stint at UND — that seems like something he usually tackles with gusto. At least it wasn't the annual Tommie update, I guess."

WW- have to agree with you on this one. Just about regurgitated coffee when I saw the column. Glas is getting love from the F-M media as well. (That is, as much love as they can give someone who doesn't have NDSU before or after their name).

Be interesting to hear from Cord of the North or any other Cobb alum as to what the Cobber family thinks of Mr. Glas.

Sum  - you work on bringing about justice up in the north country  & I'll continue to do the same down here in the cites.  I was taken aback by that piece myself.

The only problem is that the team I was investigating seems to have somewhat righted the ship.  After the good Doctor presented his map for a new world, & the Admiral invoked maritime law, the USS Pipes seems headed for smoother sailing.  ;)

I'm sure some people enjoyed the Glas piece...but not anyone who follows the league closely. Seems like it might have made a better preseason piece.

Gusties up 16-1 to start the game at Augsburg!!

Knights up 23-14 over the Oles.  Rosett is having a monster 1st half on the board 9-10 rebs!  Zorro with 11 points Fong with 10.

Carlies 78-66 over the Oles. Zorro ties his career high with 36 points, Rosett with 10 pts, 13 rebs, 7 assists.   2nd consecutive double double of the season for Rosett.

For the Oles, Bobby Fong hits the first 10 points of the game & then I believe he's held scoreless the rest of the game?  Edit.  The stats are up & Fong was held scoreless the rest of the game.

Nate Alm for the  Dawgs says - "whatever you do, don't pinch me & wake me up."  Incredible senior season for a player who until now was a solid player but never showed this kind of consistent play.  Alm has another HUGE game with 21 points on 10-18 FGA & 14 rebs.  :o

Piranhas is right, VOJ.  SMU suffers 37 turnovers.  20 more steals for the Tommies as they hold Will Wright to 2 points on 1-4 shooting.

Anyone think the Tommies may be peaking too soon?
