UST gets outscored 46-23 in the second half and gets outboarded 40-20?? YUCK!

Good year though. I wish they'd have been able to experience Salem.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

TOs, & shooting % key.

Washington 17 Tos in first half, 3 TOs, in 2nd half. At one point in the 2nd half they were 10-13 from the floor.

Washington Big 3 blow out my # to defend of 40 points.  Nading & Wallis alone combined for 43 points.  Unsure how many Thompson had.

UST - at one point was 4-20 from the floor in the 2nd half.

Great run for the Tommies, congrats on a great season...obviously Wash U is a tough outfit...Way to represent...no shame in the loss, great teams every year finish a game short of the final four and the toms are a great team.

I can very much empathize, as the 31-0 IWU women also lost to Wash U yesterday! :(

SUMMIT!!!!!

I knew Wash U was good, but WOW, they are amazing! Talk about grit and resilience. Things looked SO good for UST at the half-- the 2nd line came in and as they've done before turned the game UST's direction. Wash was obviously frazzled by UST defense; it's no surprise that the turnaround correlated with Tuma coming in and playing with his usual intensity. All those TOs (17!!) in the first half gave Wash a look of beat-ability.  Sadly, UST's shooting went cold and Wash adjusted for the defense and things went downhill fast for UST.

Contrary to all the bashing of UST student support on this board, there was a very nice delegation that made the trip- and the contingent grew for Saturday. They were loud, and gave the gym a feel of "The Shoe South" much of the game.

The fans chanted for the team after the game, and Fritz, in a classy move, sent the boys out, delaying media time to allow the fans and players to thank one another.

I kept looking for a "fan" with a paper bag over his head, but no sign of Drake Palmer. Pity, as he missed one heck of a great weekend!

Is it too premature to talk about next year?  :)

SUMMIT!!!!!

Very nice facility at Wheaton and they did a great job hosting. My only "gripe" is they need scoreboards that are as nice as the rest of the facility-- those look to be older than any of the players on the court this weekend.

I find it ludicrous that the foursome that played at Wheaton this weekend was not the Final 4.  Yes, I know it is all about $$ and geography, but these were clearly the cream of the crop.  The entire weekend had a feel and aura of Final Four about it.

Kudos to Viau, Robinson, McCoy and Tuma on their outstanding careers, in particular this, the finest of UST's 100 seasons.

Wow, Wash U shoots 67% to win by 15.  can't say I saw that one coming.   from what i can tell, the tommies were executing their game plan well, but the shots were not dropping.  15 steals while only having 9 turnovers of their own.   they got outrebounded, but that's mostly due to the shooting percentages.  sometimes you'll run into a hot shooting team.  heck of a run for the tommies.  In my opinion, they'll be better next year.

GO Tommies!  They certainly have their work cut out for them.
Drake, I haven't had a chance to follow the other brackets, but did Northwestern or any of the other UMAC teams happen to advance to the Elite 8 with a chance to go to Salem?  I'd hate to have UST make it out of the Bracket of Death, only to have to face an old nemesis in the Final Four.   ;) ;)
I'm dying - that's too funny!!!  ;D  +k when time permits.  From the Bracket of Death to Basketball Siberia - the UMAC.  A fate worse than death! ;D ;D ;D
You might not want to hear it, but there is still one d3 team from minnesota playing in a national tournament.

I normally like Kansas to go far in the tourney, unfortunately for me-in 2005 and not 2008.  If the Bucknell Bison can take down the Jayhawks, you've got to love the Fargo Bison's shot.  Woodside is going to come out firing.   ...I have no idea how they can contain aldrich, aside from fouling him out of the game--but that is a distinct possibility.

CMob,

The Longhorns aren't as good as they've been the last couple of years.  They don't have a Kevin Durrant or D.J. Augustine this year.  The Gophs need to keep Abrams from torching them from beyond the arc.  He's the all-time conference leader in threes and he can about hit them from half court.  James is a tough cookie and he's frequently good for a double double.   Texas discovered Dexter Pittman's inside game in the conference tourney.  He's got size - 6'10", 300 lbs, which is down from the 390 lbs he was when he got there.  He obviously tires pretty easy if the pace is quick.  Minnesota shouldn't give him any easy buckets.  They should hack him hard if he's in position for an easy two and make him earn it at the line.  He's a terrible free throw shooter.

The Horns are a very deep team, but they battle pretty hard.  It ought to be a good matchup and one in which the Gophers are very capable of winning.

How teams that made it to the final four have you seen play?  Clearly there were some highly ranked teams at Wheaton but I don't think it is fair to take anything away from the teams that made it to Salem.

Congrats to UST on an incredible season!

It was tough to watch the Tommies go down.  I don't know if it was the choppy web feed, an excess of barley pops, or the fact they forced 17 TOs in the first half and only lead by 8... but I had a bad feeling going into the second half.  The feeling was validated by the 15-0 Wash U run to start the 2nd half.  They dominated the TomCats in the 2nd half.  That is a very good program.

Oh well, it was a good run.  Congratulations to the UST seniors.  We appreciated the ride!

any early news on players who might be coming in to replace those seniors? or players that may have been on JV that might be able to step up next season?
