knock knock...

No kidding...it sure is quiet in this neck of the woods...

Could be worse.  AO is spouting over on the CCIW board about the greatness of Northwestern and how it puts Wheaton to shame.... he could be back over here spouting worthless crap...

Larry u, Congratulations and +k that was your 1000 post!!!

Used wisely to diss AO. ;)

Yea I guess you have to thank heaven for small miracles...today is signing day for DI and DII...the DIII coaches should get a good indication of who will be available to them after today.

Just a little tidbit I heard about a week ago. Five tommie players including lonnie, Scott, Viau, niccolai, Tuma, and Al scrimmaged some gophers at the barn. The Gophers won the nine game series 5-4. The gophers were playing with Bostick, Sampson, Johnson, Westbrook, and Payton. Maybe a few others. From What I hear They couldn't stop Scott and the Tommies came back saying that Bostick was the most athletic out of the group. Any word on early commitments?

I'm joining forces with Cmob as we try to keep the board alive during the offseason, or at least until they announce preps signings later today.  :D So this post falls under the general category of RQOD - Random Quote of the Day.

I was out earlier today and heard this scathing "love sucks" song on the radio by Sonic Youth.  Here's an excerpt from their song titled "Incinerate"

it's 4 alarm girl nothing to see
hear the sirens come for me
you dosed my soul with gasoline
you flicked a match into my brain
incinerate...
sirens come to put me out of misery

Dang, that's harsh! Talk about your spring love gone wrong... :o

Hope everyone's day is going better than the lyrics to this song, although the song did have a nice pounding rhythm.  ;D

i could see this happening since it was in an open gym...its a little different once you put them infront of 14,000 fans and have tubby giving the direction

as far as bostick goes from everything i heard from last summer through this season was he was the most athletic player but the adjustment may have taken him a season...hopefully he will have a break out year like bobby j did back in 97

disclaimer...
*in no way am i saying bostick is as good or will be as good as bobby j...although it would be pretty sweet if it happened...*

From the Fool-Em this morning:

"Fargo North senior post Zac Akers and Wahpeton senior forward Bryant Friskop have verbally committed to play basketball at Concordia College.

The 6-foot-5 Akers averaged 12.2 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Spartans this season.

The 6-foot-4 Friskop averaged 20.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Huskies this season."

Don't know much about either one.

Moorhead State signed two kids out of Iowa (FWIW):

Dragons men's coach Stu Engen added a pair of post players in 6-9 Alex Novak of Oxford, Iowa, and 6-7 Eric Olson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.

"We're trying to stiffen up our front line a little bit and both Eric and Alex are going to help us in that capacity," Engen said.

MSUM ranked 13th out of 15 teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in rebounding margin this past season.

Novak averaged 18.6 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game as a senior at Amana High School. Olson averaged 13.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game as a senior at Mt. Vernon High School.

me thinks they landed a good one in Friskop.  Wahpeton finished 18-6 and was the East Region champion for the first time since anyone can remember.  They fizzled at State by dropping their only two games.  However, Friskop (1) was the Eastern Dakota Conference Senior Player of the Year (the EDC includes the Fargo and Grand Forks schools and Jamestown), (2) was named to the All-Tournament Team at State; and (3) was named First Team All-State.

I understand that he can play inside and out, with a nice touch from 3-point land.  Friskop was 2nd in the EDC (to the aforementioned Akers) in rebounding, 2nd in scoring, 2nd in free throw percentage (78.1%), 3rd in 3-pointers per game, and 6th in 3-pt. fg percentage (37.9% on 53-140 shooting).  Not too shabby.

Sounds like nice recruits for the Cobbs, & talent is still talent, but the Cobbs are already doing well in the biggs department – John Fraase, Olmscheid, Hagemeyer,  Lien etc.  Concordia needs some ball handlers & shooters so they can get up & down the court.  Otherwise, opposing teams will pack it in against John Fraase & he'll have as much room to operate as a tuna in a can.  ;)

Agreed, that they could use additional guard play, but Friskop appears to give them a shooter who can spread the defense.  Other than Dyshaw (who I think was a senior), the Cobbs didn't have a consistent 3-point threat.
