Drake - I'm not sure of the whole situation regarding Mr. Sawatzke, but my guess would be that he's playing in the Pro-Am League because he played AAU basketball with Howard Pulley.  That has happened before with other Pulley alumns, despite their age.  I would also add that he is a very talented player and should make an immediate impact for Carleton.

What kind of game does Sawatzke have?   Based on his size - 6-0 (?), I'm guessing he's a PG or a smallish 2G?  I'm assuming he must be a solid player & have decent quicks if he played with Pulley as a six-foot guard.  Looks like Carleton might go small ball with Sawatzke & Blaise Davis at the guards.

From what I can recall, Sawatzke is very quick with the ball and can really do some things off the dribble.  He has a high basketball i.q. and is probably more of a point guard then a shooting guard.  I know that some NSIC Division II schools strongly pursued him last year.

In addition to Mr. Sawatzke, another frosh to watch will be his teammate Scott Theisen from Champlin Park.  Theisen is a 6-6 big shooting guard who can really stroke the ball.  Hopefully the Carlies do not put him inside.

Should be another fun MIAC season.  I cannot wait to take in the action.

From what I've heard, the Carlies can use all the help they can get. As you might expect, it hasn't been a particularly successful summer for them sans Zorro.

For what it's worth, my people are reporting frequent losses well into double digits against other MIAC teams. Without an impact player added to the mix, the season could be quite long next year. Lucky for them, Guy is usually good for 1-2 of those each offseason.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

that is one of the nice things CAR can usually offer a nice player coming out of high school...immediate playing time and lots of it...not something too many schools who are consistantly solid can do

Intermittent Quote of the Week

Some of you may have seen this quote about Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski before, but I came across this quote in an article about athletes we love or hate.

A.J.P. is like the baseball version of Bill Laimbeer -- you hate him because he's annoying and almost every game he will do something that will get under your skin.

As his manager, Ozzie Guillen, said in his inimitable way: "If you play against [A.J.], you hate him. If you play with him, you hate him a little less."

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

Pulley playoffs are starting, disappointing showing, or lack there of, from Hipp, Didn't even get off the bench!

Twins get jobbed the other day.  Did they deserve to lose, maybe, But did they actually lose, no.  Terrible call at home plate.  It was like watching the asian sensation out there.

Wolves trade mad-dog, the rhino, and bassy.  THANK GOODNESS, no more quotes like this:  "Bassy with the amazing pass to the Rhino for the thunderous lay-up"

Oh, and I hate A.J.P.  I played with a baller that was like him, except you hated him just as much as when you played with him or against him.

Wow, was the "Dunk" on Lebron lame.  Here is an address to check it out, don't get your hopes up.

Cmob- i was scrounging on si.com looking for some scoop on rubio or some other wolves news when i saw this attractive girl with boombahlahties, and i thought to myself, what would Cmob do?  So i clicked and thought i should share with everyone why hamline might not be the overall best place for boombahlaties, but there are diamonds in the rough.
