From Frank the Tank's Blog, Mike Trewick is the new head basketball coach at St. Cloud Tech.

Mbakwe is a beast.  The new pg out of california, Justin Cobbs, looks solid.  He definitely held his own against El-Amin anyways.

Championship game tonight at 7:15.  EC team (mbakwe, ike roosefelt, wittwer, devoe joseph)  vs El'Amin's fish house (paul carter, devron bostick, dan coleman, bruce price, luke witt, maybe khalid himself).

WW, I see "little sister" is headed home (so to speak)! She will be learning at the knee of a master.  It will be an interesting to watch as they transition to D-l.

Hmm, lets see...

"A fart in the hand is better than two in the bush?"

Or in the words of Bruce Cockburn, a Canadian singer songwriter:

"you pay your money & you take your chance, when you deal with love and romance.

You must not have known you were dealing with a break-windologist.  :D

Sum – nice find on the Boese clan.  Congrats WW.

But what else has been going on? I see you're trying to slide back on the board like you've been posting on a regular basis. You've been MIA waay longer than I have.   8) What's the word on fishing, Johnnie's football & hoops?  Is Todd Herman coming back to SJU this fall?  Where's youngest Sum heading for school this fall?  Inquiring minds need to know.  ;)

DP, where to start...where to start? By the way did you check out the top of this page? I posted on 7.29.09!  ;)

I have had a stretch at work like you had this past spring.  Not enough hours in the day to get it all done, so we just keep plugging away. No end in sight either. I guess it beats the alternative.

Fished quite a bit in June. It was awesome. Memorial weekend alone we had 5 walleyes  29" or longer, including the first 30" walleye of my young life!  ;D

Moved the youngest Sum out to Denver in early July. She started classes at the Art Institute of Colorado on July 13. Going to follow in her mother's footsteps. Working on a BA in Fashion Retail Mgmt.

Moved #1 daughter in to a new apartment on Grand last weekend. Best part about it was the burger at the Tap on Saturday night washed down with a couple of Surly Furious on tap! First time I have sampled any of their offerings. I was impressed.

Couple more fishing trips between now and Labor Day, then watch some golf this fall....before you know it hunting season is here.

Not sure about what is going on at SJU. VOJ will need to fill us in. I haven't even checked the football board lately.

What's up with DP?

Of the quotes in that story, which sounds most like a press release? Anyone know why?

Let's see you cyber sleuths do some digging ;)

WW - strictly conjecture on my part, but the previous assistant coach did not voluntarily resign thus the standard, generic resignation quote most coaches use –

"I am grateful for the opportunities that have been provided to me by the university," Kelling said. "I will miss the dedicated student-athletes I've had the pleasure of working with over the years, as well as all of the loyal Fighting Sioux fans."

Sum - 3 posts in the last 5 months hardly constitutes any type of posting regularity.  ::) ;)

Much like you, late spring was a blur.  By the time July rolled around, 50 hour work weeks was a welcome relief from the relentless grind of March through June.   As a result, the yard took a bit of a hit, but I still managed to get out & hit a tennis ball or two, & ride a bike to maintain a semblance of sanity & fitness.

I'm pushing, dragging, cajoling & wheedling DP Jr through the halls of higher learning & one day he might don the mortarboard & gown.  One can only hope.  ;)

I've got a wedding to attend out in the Mile high city of Denver later this fall & a possible mini-vacation to Montreal, but the Canada trip is still in the very early planning stages.

Back on the St. Paul front - here are a couple more dining recommendations if you can ever tear yourself away from the Tap.  In fact, I'd give the thumbs up burger nod to Blue Door over Groveland Tap.  The main advantage the Tap has is that it's a larger restaurant, with easier access. The popularity of the Blue Door almost made me give up on the joint.  But you definitely ought to give it a try- you won't regret it.

The other recommendation is a restaurant I've enjoyed over in Mpls but they've now opened a 2nd location on east Grand Avenue in St. Paul - Brasa.  Order the two meat combo plate & you'll leave a happier man than when you entered.  I guarantee it.   ;D ;D

Edit: P.S.  You know me & symmetry. I like that 888 "thang" you got going on with your karma. Once someone bumps you off that magic number I'll triple the +k.     ;)

WW, I think Drake is spot on with the quote and the "story" behind the quote!

Drake, thanks for the dining tips. I am going to have to try the Blue Door. The burgers there look awesome. Been a while since I had been down Grand. Is Brasa next to the Punch Pizza? If so, I queried #1 daughter about the new restaurant. That looks good as well.

I am just thankful my Karma is not stuck on 666!

Right quote, wrong answer. The one formally known as Pick went out the door completely on her own and — here's a hint — she couldn't have been fired, formally or otherwise.
