here's hoping that todd herman is on board when sju tees it up this fall in october.  i think the johnnies were a much better team when he was on the floor.  he had a physical presence that they lacked after his defection.  he appeared to be a good lock down defender, and he had enough in his offensive bag that you had to keep him in your sights.

DP, another flying trip down to St.Paul and back on Saturday! Did manage to have lunch at Brasa. Once again spot on with the tip Drake. Pulled chicken sandwich was great. The homemade gaucomole was also very good. Keep those restaurant tips coming.
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

You've gotta try the cornbread muffins with the honey butter at Brasa.  I'm not sure if Drake mentioned the best part about Brasa, you are getting quality food.  Organic and Grass fed free range meat.  Not only does it taste good but there are no additives or preservatives.

Great, glad you liked it. I've got a hunch weekend plans might include an eating excursion to Brasa.

On another note, you may not have noticed my seafood restaurant tip I posted several weeks ago (or you don't like seafood?) , but if anyone else likes good seafood, at a reasonable price & in a great park setting, you owe it to yourself to take the short jaunt across the Ford Bridge to Minnehaha Park in south Mpls.

At the Minnehaha Park pavilion is Sea Salt.  They serve up some mighty tasty oysters on the half shell, peel & eat shrimp, fish baskets, seafood special of the day,  Po' Boys, & my personal favorite – grilled fish tacos.  Good grubbing, decent choice of beers & wines, & some ice cream from Sebastian Joe's to tap it off.  Only real downside, sometimes the lines can be r-e-a-l long, so try to get there before or after the lunch crowd.  The same holds true for the dinner hour too.

A questionable added benefit is that the restaurant staff apparently likes the music of their elders & occasionally goes deep into the way back musical time machine. The last time there I heard "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple.  I can't recall the last time I'd heard that song.   Yowz, talk about a deep 70s flashback!  It might have been when I was in grade school when that song was first released!  ::) ;D

I think I even owe an occasional reader of this board lunch at Sea Salt. ;)

from what i understand, marcus brumm will be playing basketball this year as well.

TearDrop

Just a little less than 73 days before Saint Mary's opens the season this year against the University of Dubuque!! I am hoping that the red birds can move up in the standings this season. They have two of the best guards in the conference and should do a better job this year with it being the second year of the new coaches system. I am interested to see what the coaches are bringing in to try and help out Holland and Wright. If those two got some help and a little bit of size on the inside then I think that SMU could finally crack the playoffs for the first time in only Drake Palmer or WillyWonka knows how long!!

Not sure if there is any credibility to this or not but I have heard that the Knight twins will not be playing this year. I have heard this pretty much for the last 2 years though so I will wait and see what actually happens.

You've apparently never known any teenagers who have taken up the guitar. "Smoke On The Water" is pretty much the equivalent for beginner guitarists of what "Heart And Soul" is for beginner pianists.

i am headed back to the mother land for the next few weeks and will likely not post any nonsense or tom foolery during that time...i will returned with a renewed energy to rollerskate and post weird things even better than before

Glad to see you're back in the homeland after visiting the motherland. By the way, Pete, I predict Air Force to beat the Brewster-laden Gophers 35-17. (remember where you heard  it first, big fella!)

Remember when I thought Fritz would unseat Nicolai last fall? Apparently he's just good at getting people OUT of their seats. Check out this blurb after the first UST football game this fall...

University of St. Thomas sophomore wide receiver/kick returner Fritz Waldvogel (Mendota Heights, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) returned two first-quarter punts for touchdowns (68, 74 yards) and finished with 180 return yards on three attempts in Saturday's 54-14 Tommie victory over Macalester. Waldvogel had five touches in the game for 213 all-purpose yards as he returned punts 38, 68 and 74 yards, all in the first quarter, and had one rush for 15 yards and one reception for 18 yards. He tied or possibly set an NCAA Division III record for most punt return TDs in one quarter. Waldvogel has had three punt returns for touchdowns in his last five games.

A little summer news here.....Not confirmed but it seems as though a Mr. Eric Clute will be following the path of Jon Derock and is taking his services to SMSU for the upcoming year.

And Eric Clute, though not a bad offensive ballplayer, is certainly no John Derock.  Good luck to him if this proves to be more than a rumor.

Hmmm- this is interesting news.  Although I can understand potential discontentment with the basketball program at Hamline, I didn't see anything in young Mr. Clute's game that would suggest a successful transfer to a DII school.  I could see another D3 school but D2?  ??? I don't see him having the quicks to play at that level.

I agree with Supe.  However, if this what he has decided, best of luck to him.

Its confirmed, he is a Mustang. Regarding the quicks thing, our system in Marshall does not depend a lot on speed or quicks. Any other insight on him?

Recruiting news from the Denver Post. A Minnesotan has committed to Colorado State! Anybody know any thing about the young man?
