A very colorful response Drake.   :D

To answer your question, I don't do pick'em for the same reason that I don't participate in any sort of fantasy games.  I'm bad at always remembering to make my picks when I actually half to.  I don't want to be at the bottom of the list because of that.

Thanks for the list of last year's conference POW's.  And to answer your other question, no I'm not about to start saying Tony Thrasher is the best thing since sliced bread, I just thought it was interesting that a freshmen won the honor, especially when Mr. Rosefelt had a monster stat-line last week.

Alright, Local. I'll reluctantly accept your weak excuse.  You better hope I don't have idle time on my hand & I go back & summarize your season's  picks.  Come to think of it...  ;D

Tough matchup for the Johnnies tonight. I see a couple people on the pick'em board think Conboy can carry MAC.  What else do they have as far as height and scorers???

To answer your question about Drake or Conboy - No.  I'm sure an old guard poster like MIACManiac could let you know if & when a Frosh has ever won a MIAC Player of the Week.

The "old guard" checks in and took 30 seconds to go back one year farther and found tht Phil Sowden was the MIAC POW the week of 3/1/04 (final week of his freshman year). The year before Sean Sweeney won it. In 1999-2000, Scott Christensen and Pat Russell were named POWs as a frosh.

The last four years MAC has lost by 17, 21 and 33 points in three trips to Collegeville.  In 03-04 they won by 20.  MAC rarely plays well up there.  They may sneak up on a SJU team that is on a bit of a skid but it doesn't look good.

Go Scots!

Mr. Ypsi

To those on a board I follow regularly and OCCASIONALLY post:

If any of you follow NATIONAL d3 bb, please check Posters' Poll on Multi-Regional Topics.  We've started a poll (NOT in any way meant to compete with the d3hoops.com poll).  I figure discrepancies between the real poll and our poll could lead to some really interesting discussions!

This past week our results were quite similar (usually only a 1 or 2 slot difference), but the poll was HEAVILY dominated by CCIW, WIAC, and Great Lakes Region voters - IF you're a NATIONAL fan, we'd like your input!

As moderator, I DO reserve the right to disallow obviously 'homerish' ballots (6 MIAC teams in the top 20 ain't gonna get counted!), but that will apply only for extreme cases.

Gusties up on Koz and the Oles 13-0 to start the game and 31-12 early.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Johnnies scrape together an ugly victory over Conboy and the Scots tonight 75-71.

Jumpers and deep threes finally fell for the Johnnies tonight. They were horrible from the line had to have been close to 50% or less. Conboy played well and had probably 22. I was not overly impressed with him though. He just bulled his way around and really didnt play a whole lot of defense. Craig Schafer went to his left all night and abused Conboy.

Conboy had 22 pts and 8 rebounds. He shot 6-12 on FG's in the first half and a awful 1-9 in the second half. He was 7-9 from the line. He played well in the first half and then seemed nonexistent in the second half.

A very disappointing score for the Royals.  I was hoping they would play a bit better than they did.  I thought perhaps some confidence was beginning to build up with their win this past weekend, and they would really show up to play tonight.  Was anyone there?  Details?

bchoops- I think the Johnnies went into UST thinking the same way. They too got crushed.

concordia finally gets it right with a big win over augsburg. linz, dixon, citterman combine for something like 24 of the 32 rebounds for concordia.

templeton goes 3-4 from deep and nets a season high 16 pts.

looks like it might have been a hack fest though.

Watched the Johnnies eek out a win against the Scots last night. Johnnies poor free throw shooting(45%) was a factor in how tight the game was at the end. Johnnies were up 8 with the ball and about 2 1/2 minute to go in the game. Scots threw a press at them and caused a couple of quick turnovers. Westman hit a three from NBA+ range with the clock running down to seal the victory with 14 seconds left.

I personally thought the Johnnies were very flat, which suprised me, given they had lost two in a row and were sitting at 3-3 in the MIAC. I thought they might play with a little more sense of urgency.

Right now this is not the same SJU team that opened the season with 5 wins in their first 7 games.
