HAM 87, BET 71
Hipp 29, Brown 15, Rieg 12, Taber 11
Baah 20, Robertson 19, Vavra 13 (they have no bench)

Somebody that may have been there? Baah is on fire and he is on the bench from like 10 minutes to like 4 minutes maybe? What was up with that.

Hipp was a stud tonight. Passing into the big man was outstanding. The Pipers got away from it late in the first half, but the talk at half must have been get Carl the ball.

Forgot to write...with tonight's win the Pipers have their most wins (I believe) since 1993-94. Congrats to Coach Whitmore and the Vipers.

Glass Half Full Perspective

GAC gets back on track tonight with a 19-point victory and holds Mac to 26% shooting in the first half. Van Sickle has been shooting the ball well lately, finishing 6-11 from the field.

Glass Half Empty Perspective

A legitimately terrible Scots team cut 16-point halftime deficit to just six twice in the second half and fired at a 63% clip after the break. The Gusties also shot just 38% on the game and my people tell me it was never a pretty performance. Sloppy was the word I heard...and I'm not talking about the drunks fans in the stands. Thankfully, Mac finished with an even sloppier 7-24 assist-to-turnover ratio to bail my Gusties out.

Let's just say I'm a little leery about Saturday game against a good Hamline team :-\
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Hipp 25 points from 1,000. Here's hoping it comes Saturday.

Far and away, in my opinion, the best team basketball the Pipers have played this year. Baah was just killing in the first half. Bethel wouldn't have been close without him. Hamline could not stop him when Carroll wasn't in the game. I've never heard of this kid before, but he has a great shot. Great play by the Hamline bench players. Hopefully they can finish at least 2-2 in the next four. I can't say I would be surprised to see them lose three though. At St. Marys is always scary. Home against GAC should be a win.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin' back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" .....Jesus Shuttlesworth

Correct, sir. Hamline played fantastic when they moved the ball and found the open shooter - most of the time it was Hipp within five feet of the basket. When they tried getting too one-on-one like, that's when Bethel made runs to make the game close.

Rieg and Taber must be on the good side of Whitty because Easter and Aguirre have been supplanted pretty much in the rotation. I think the Pipers need a bit more production down the stretch from Noah and Jordan Schmidt, who was on fire during the nice run the second half of the first loop through the conference.

Yao - sure, SMU is a tough road win, but if the Pipers want a top-four playoff spot (i.e home game), it's a must win after dropping a contest at Carleton. I wish I could make it for the GAC/HAM rematch but the rest of February Saturdays are all booked with playoff contests at work.

Hoping to make it up for the HAM/SJU game in two weeks though.
