As I've done in previous years, I've listed the rosters for the upcoming HS All-Star games. If I'm aware of college choices for any of the players, I've listed them.  As we go through the spring, we can use this list as a master list & add players & college choices.  Anyone can feel free to add to them as we go along.  Any D3 players, highlight & list them in bold & blue.  So far, I'm not aware of any MIAC commitments.

QuoteI don't deny that the Noreens work very hard and are good basketball players, but their stats would easily  be cut into halves or thirds if they were playing at a class 3A or 4A school. MTS plays 5-6 kids the whole game and blows up stats. It's too bad that they had to beat a small school from a small community that produced homegrown kids.

Buddo,

I'm pretty sure most of the kids that go to MTS are from the Minneapolis area, and yeah, most of them are there to fix a troubled childhood before it's too late. If you take five seconds to look at Noreen's numbers, the kid can play. He put up 30 on a ranked Minnehaha Academy team, 32 against a ranked Minneapolis Henry team that was ranked, 31 against Columbia Heights, the best team in AAA not to make the state tourney, 24 against Staples Motley and 27 against Minnetonka. I'm pretty sure if he was at a school in the suburbs his numbers would be just as good. I have no idea what he has been through in his life, but there's a reason he's there and it probably wasn't just to win a state title because he could in Class A.

What? I said this very clearly: "I don't deny that the Noreens work very hard and are good basketball players"

I know Noreen is good, and I have looked at his stats. I also know that he played with a very good AAU team this summer that competed with the best in the nation and that will see nearly every one of their players go D-1. I also think Noreen will also have a nice collegiate career.

But there is NO WAY you can honestly say that he would rack up 4,000+ points at a TC public suburban school. He acquired the scoring record through the following ways:

- being able to start for MTS since 7th or 8th grade
- playing against the worst competition in the state
- staying in the entire game, even during blow-outs

None of those three things would ever happen at a Eastview, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Chaska, etc...

Buddo

Also, it was recently reported that Connor Gunderson of Austin, MN will be playing for St. Olaf next year. He was regarded as a D2 recruit for most of the season, I believe... I got this info from Ryan James' message board post over at MinnesotaPreps.com .

OVER THE LINE! I think Jon's toe was on the line on that last shot. Only worth two points  :P

I'm sure everybody would have been thrilled if another Minneapolis kid transferred to Hopkins.   ;D

The scoring record is legit.  It was bound to happen at some point with the idiotic system we have.  Maybe those in charge get a wakeup call this weekend watching Butler in the final four.  I'd bet Milan high might just get a mention or two.  Jimmy Chitwood will be in the house.

Willy Wonka

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

So what is this - a courtesy visit before the golf & fishing openers?  ;)  On the sports the other night they said that Legends Golf Course in Prior Lake was opening up today or tomorrow.

DP, was actually a courtesy visit before some R & R with Mrs. Sum. Now I am paying for my transgressions with the work load. Trying to get caught up before fishing and golf get in the way of work!
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Well, I hope you're getting the work done, because I can sniff, sniff ...smell something in the air.  ;)

Spring comes to the north country! 65 & sunny this afternoon in the cities!

Well, well, well, will wonders never cease?   ;)

It seems our own Willy Wonka must have exerted his alumni influence at his alma mater as they have booked hip-hop musician, Lupe Fiasco for their spring concert.  :o ;D

I would have expected a group more like Rascal Flatts or Sugarland to play at Gustavus.  Hip-Hop comes to St. Peter!
