You say that Mac would be LUCKY to win 3 of these which means you're saying that they probably won't win six conferences games for the year.  And you expect me to give you FOUR games on top of what you predict.  Meeting me in the middle would be fair...I'll even go 9-11.

If we finish 8-12, 7-13, 6-14, 5-15, 4-16 or 3-17, I owe you a t-shirt.

If we finish 9-11, 10-10, 11-9, 12-8 or 13-7 you owe me a t-shirt.

Linz is questionable with an unidentified foot injury suffered in last night's game.  Miller is a source of incredible concern with a potentially damaged retina.  Four serious injuries.

Linz is out for the season, broken foot. The loss of him, Eckhoff, Dixon and probably Miller kill Cobber title hopes, but I still see them sneaking in as the #6 seed. Citterman looked awesome vs Hamline's <ahem> defense. It will be fun to watch Citterman and Linz fo 2 more years-- a nice, soldi nucleus.

PI-- I think both DeRock and Foster will get serious consideration for All-Conf, and could (should?) both make it. Foster was a force vs. Concordia & in the other games I've seen him.

I could probably be All Conference against Hamline's "D". :)

Good morning to all.  :D

OAS - If you're telling me that Mr. Assel has hit a wall, I don't see how the Scots can go 7-3 or even 6-4 the second time around ???  I think that miacwatchmen got the better of that deal.

What you have to keep in mind regarding Hamline and their "lack of defense" is that the Pipers get up and down more then anyone in the MIAC.  That leads to quick baskets or quick shots, which means that the other team gets more possessions.   When you also consider the fact that Hamline has done a poor job on the defensive glass lately (giving up second shots) that too allows the other team more scoring opportunities.  I will however agree with you that Coach Wohler's team needs to improve their defense if they're going to make the playoffs and make a run when they get there.

Best wishes to the Concordia team.  What a loss that will be without their top 4 players.  Tough way to start the second part of conference play.

PI and miacmaniac - Regarding the all-conference chatter, what about Mr. Thrasher from Hamline?  He's their leading scorer.

If I had to guess how the season will play out, I would say that St. Thomas, Gustavus, and Carleton will all make the playoffs.  St. John's should also be a lock, so that leaves two teams.  I think that Hamline will find a way to go at least 6-4 the second time around, while St. Mary's and Bethel will challenge for the final spot.

Local- shhhhh...... don't tell oAs   ;)

My question is: Will CON be a cake walk now for the rest of the year?? Or will they scrape it together and manage to win a few more before the year is over??  No matter what that is a tough loss for a pretty good team.

ok...time and time again i hear people on this board saying i belive the tommies and gusties and carelton will make playoffs and then they say the "JOHNNIES SHOULD".  I need your help from everyone who says that and tell me why carleton and the gusties are consistently being looked ahead of the johnnies.  SJU already beat carelton once this year.  Carelton didnt play bad either, they shot 50% for the game.  SJU we will say had a great chance and prolly should be gustavous AT GUSTAVOUS.  Why wont anybody pick the johnnies for the 3rd or maybe even the second seed this year??  I may be bias and thats why i wanna hear your opinion!

If you're a fan, spell their names right...Carleton and Gustavus.

The Johnnies don't play consistent enought to get the 2nd seed for sure. If they make a run and win 4 or even 5 at home and maybe 3 or 4 on the road they could get the 3rd. I think the 2nd seed will be GAC.

Finally back from my little road trip and able to make some comments about Wednesday's game.

Ohme absolutely killed the Gusties, especially in the first half. For a kid shooting less than 30% on the year, we certainly respected his outside game a lot. He consistently beat Hollerich with hard cuts for uncontested layups on his way to 24 points - his total from the FOUR previous games. He's another guy who's been borderline awful this year, but this may spark him for the stretch run.

As far as the rest of the Johnnies...Westman was an utter disappointment. Schafer is great on the O-boards, but struggles otherwise offensively. Henrichs got in foul trouble and did less than he should have. Lieser is tough, but he'd make them better if he scored more. Once the Gusties took away the easy layups, the Johnnies struggled in the second half (16 point diff). I think they are a lock to get at least the 4 seed, but they don't scare me as much as Carleton's versatility.

I'm not convinced that Wittwer isn't the Gusties best player right now. TeBrake scores more, but Wittwer he packs the stat sheet like very few others in the conference. The key to the rest of the season will be everyone else: can Hollerich get back to a top-notch scrapper? Can Sowden stay out of foul trouble and start playing better? Can Stein provide a double-double threat or will he be passive? Will Olson get open looks (he passed up 1 or 2 Wednesday)?

Sidenote: Kaus has been very sick and wasn't even on the bench Wednesday. Robbie Schmidt came in and played well in spurts, including hitting a 3 in the later stages of the second half.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Looks like a former Gustie bought Drake Palmer's $5.95 CD tutorial "How to Write a 5 Paragraph Post"
