Their school colors are officially: Cardinal and Blue. White, most of the time, is seen as a supplement color in uniforms. Most schools use white in their uniforms despite the fact that only St. Mary's lists white as its school color.

Thanks for the response.  I guess the football program just doesn't include blue in their uniforms.

Methinks Coach LA & staff contacted all current, former players & friends of the program & "politely" asked them to turnoff the posts.  If not, he would have some acquaintances from back east make a few visits at night with a special Hamline lead pipe in hand.  :)

I'll give it another week & then I'll repost one of the most memorable posts in Hamline D3Hoops posting history.

Pops – I'll now pass the Jekyll & Hyde mantle from Concordia to St. Olaf.  The Oles started out the season 6-0 & are now on 4 game losing streak.  ::) Looking at their schedule they could potentially lose 6 straight games.  However, at this point they might have to share the J&H mantle with the Johnnies, or at least until Mac shows up on Wednesday night.  ;)

Injury to Jonker late in the game looked fairly serious, which will not help Carleton's chances against UST Wednesday night. It is too bad, as I was looking forward to a good contest that evening.

Word is that it is a bone bruise without any ligament damage.  Not sure what that means for immediate playing time, but better then it could have been.

Hold on, I am still present and accounted for. I can't speak for the rest of the pipe crew though.  ;)

I'll be around more often now that the conference games are back on.

Really happy about the piper win last night, knew they had it in them. Just sad I didn't keep my confidence for the pick-ems  >:(. The pipers have a lot of talent, and a lot of consistency issues.  It seems coach is getting his rotations down. I have just been hoping all along for them to consistently put good games together so we will see how they do vs. bethel especially at home...

was pleased to see the additions of ben "energizer bunny" flavin and todd herman to their respective rosters.  this can do nothing but help the dawgs and johns in their runs for the playoffs!

WashedUp,
Thanks for the medical update on Jonker. That is very good news. I'm guessing it will limit Jonker this week, but hopefully not limit him for too long. Carleton is one of the few squads I think can really give the Tommies a challenge, so I want them to stay healthy to keep MOSE from getting too overconfident ;)

Eight years out this May...anybody who worked in the sports department (See SID, AD) are out. The well has dried up

gacbacker

St. Thomas 62 Carleton 59

Jonker travels with 6 seconds left. Nicolai pumps in a three at the buzzer for the win.

Carleton chokes late in the game as they fall, 62-59, @ UST.  Carleton misses 4 straight FTs down the stretch and then as they were holding for the last shot (59 all) they travel with 6sec left.  Nicolai hits a 3 at the buzzer.

MAC WINS
CONGRATS TO THE SCOTS
I thought they had a chance of knocking off the Johnnies this year, but thought it would be at home. Winning at Collegeville a shocker. Blistering shooting from the 3 point line, 11-19 (58%) appears to have been the key to victory.

Oles continue to be Jekyl and Hyde squad of the MIAC. Just when they looked to be on a down slide, they  knockioff St. Marys in Winona

Cobbers also pick up nice road win at Augsburg, getting them back in the thick of the playoff hunt

Hamline crushes Bethel at home as expected

No has a better free throw defense than UST, who once again use this weapon to pull out a "fortunate" win at home ;) ;) kudos to Tyler Nicolai, who just keeps making big shots. He may not be the best shooter in the league, but in clutch situations, he is #1.

If it was "WOW" the other night – it's shazam, smoking hot, triple blazing WOW tonight!  :o ;D

Mac wins!  Good going Scots! If there was such a thing as Freshman of the Year - my man Justin Wasik would be the early front runner. He knocked down 17 points tonight as he shot 6-10FGA, 5-7 from the 3ptline.  Big man Soph Andy Bowman does yeoman work on the boards & hauls in 13 rebounds to go along 8 pts & 5 fouls.  The leader of the pack Pierce Peters has 22 pts, 3-5 from downtown, 6 rebounds, 5 assists & 3 steals.

Aaron Burtzel has a career night scoring 28 points & snares 13 rebs for his 21st double-double.   But as the SJU game summary pointed out – the Johnnies missed 13 layups. ???  It's going to be an uphill battle as now they travel to Moorhead on Saturday to play the suddenly resurgent Cobbers.

Tommies sneak by another one eh?  Must have been the combination of the leprechaun, 4- leaf clover, lucky horseshoe, & Kim's fried chicken to pull this one out, plus a little bit of talent & big cojones from Tyler "I Never Met a shot I didn't like" Nicolai.  ;)  Props also to Tommy "K Love" Hannon – 19 BOARDS & 14 pts.  Big ups.  I'm sure there will be more head knocking in round 2 when the Carlies play the Tommies in Northfield. I'll have to mark my calendar for that game - that could be a serious battle.

Hamline spanks Bethel 99-65.  In my opinion here are a couple of key stats of the night:

Hamline - 57 rebounds
Bethel – 33 rebounds

Carl Hipp - 18 pts, 15 rebounds – 22 minutes
Taylor Hall – 9 pts, 1 rebound – 27 minutes
He's the tallest player on the Bethel team – 1 rebound?

Augsburg - Concordia.  Cobbs win  80-74.  I had a meeting tonight so I was only able to see the 2nd half of the game between Augsburg & Concordia.   Two fairly evenly matched teams, the big difference was gulp,  ;D outside shooting on the part of the Cobbs.  ;D Coach Glas has those guys thinking they can shot from the outside. 8 out of 10 players took a shot from behind the 3pt line.  They only shot 6-15 from behind the arc, but that was better than Augsburg's 6-18 from the 3pt line & it opened  up the interior for the Cobbs to get decent looks at layups  & short jumpers.

I definitely can't figure out this Ole squad.

He loves the outside shot.

I saw the videocast (or whatever it's called) of SMU/Olaf tonight. It's obvious that Olaf got a nice recruiting class this year... Gunderson starts as a freshman and is a 6'6" guard... rare in the MIAC. They also bring Kuck, Jenson, and Hultgren (6'5") off the bench, and all can play. Also I think Neville has officially emerged this year. Olaf can be very dangerous... if they have a few shooters hot, watch out.

Tonight Palmer had a double-double nearly by halftime. Wright simply didn't shoot well, I think he was like 2-10 from the field.

i agree with p. hoops.  nicolai is absolutely clutch.  he had a huge turnover late in the game, but i would have bet the farm he would hit his shot at the buzzer to atone for his earlier gaffe.
actually, teddy archer should be treating nicolai to dinner tonight for bailing him out of his "goat" status; we were not quite sure what teddy was trying to do in the last five minutes of the game----but the fact that fritz didn't yank him was evidence of his incredible patience with the kid.  archer had a string of bad decisions that were almost comical, if you were not one of the tommie faithful.  he has tremendous athletic ability, but his shooting and touch around the basket do not match his other skills.
you had to feel for carleton, who played well enough to win.  but five absolutely bricked free throws down the stretch by a bevy of knights led to the game-winning heroics by the MIAC's best clutch shooter tyler nicolai.   :)
