Congratulations to the Tommies and Coach Steve Fritz on their National Championship!

Congrats to the Tommies and to the MIAC as a whole.

That was simply an awesome game that UST played today. As Coach Fritz said in the postgame interview, "We couldn't play any better than we did today."

Congratulations to St Thomas.  This group of seniors was a joy to watch over the years.  I didn't think they had the depth to win it all this  year but determination and GREAT COACHING go a long way.

Mr. Ypsi

If the tallies on Titan Q's website (IWUhoops.com) are correct, St. Thomas and IWU are now tied for third place all-time in wins by current d3 teams - 1503 each.  (Wittenberg is first, Wooster second - it would take a number of years to catch Woo, and Witt is uncatchable in any foreseeable future.)  Since they are also tied at 1 title each (Witt also has 1, Woo has 0), the next few years should be interesting!

Oh, and I almost forgot - CONGRATULATIONS!!

according to the UST SID's count, we passed them, as we were 2 behind IWU going into the NCAAs 1502 to 1500). With 6 wins to IWU's 1, UST now has 1506 to hold sole possession of 3rd place. Being in the company of such legendry programs as Wooster, Witt & IWU is a nice feeling!

Any word on this years HS seniors and which MIAC school they're attending for hoops?

AO

The Tommies got a quick mention on the sports show tonight.  Reusse noted that Fritz has probably had 5 better teams in the past decade, and still managed to win it all.  I'd tend to agree with him thinking about guys like Rosefelt, Schnettler and Scott, but the way the 2011 version played yesterday, they'd have probably found a way to overcome the superior talent and size of the 30-0 team, or the 03 Gusties.

I just wanted to throw out my congrats to UST on a tremendous performance in the national championship game on Friday.  I think Wooster had some tired legs heading into the short turnaround after the energy they expended in their epic come from behind win on Friday night over Williams.  And for this, I don't think the final margin of victory is truly indicative of whether UST is that much better than the Scots.  But with that said, UST played their tails off and never let up.  Truly deserving champions!

One of these years, we will turn the tables and come out on top in a national championship game vs. UST right?  This can't keep happening?!   ;)

Sad news....Debbie Viau, the mother of former UST basketball player BJ Viau, lost her battle with Huntington's Disease yesterday, surrounded by her family.  She was a woman of great strength, a fighter, and an inspiration to all who came in contact with her.
