Well the research is in on the Johnnies shooting percentages. I found what I suspected I would find. The news is not real earth shattering. They shoot much better at home than they do on the road and they shoot better in the second half on the road than they do in the first half.

OAS - was the above a typo-line score from the MAC/UST game last night, or did he actually transfer back to MAC??

I also thought I noticed Tucker Weisman's name listed in the box score for the Oles last night, but when I looked again today, his name had mysteriously vanished.  (Willy - is that what you were referring to in your post last night about the Oles?)

If "OLE" the poster doesn't turn out to be a one hit poster, maybe he could tell us whatever became of Tucker Weisman.

Also, OAS - when's Liddell scheduled to return?

I may be a one hit wonder, but here's what I know:

Weisman hurt his back early in the season. He was practicing in October. He got injured and apparently it would have been a long road back or something because he hasn't suited up since. I can't figure out his deal... sometimes was on the bench, sometimes right behind the bench, sometimes over in the student section. Lots of time with a lady friend watching the games, though. It must be bad. He's certainly one of Koz's favorites and would have played a TON this year.  ***Disclaimer: I don't really know the full story, so this is just the story I've been told.***

Bobby Hunter injured something a few games ago (possibly groin-related based on where he had an ice bag late in the SJU game) and is slowly working back in. As he checked in on Wed., Koz yelled "3-4 good minutes is what we need" to him. Not sure he's a difference maker, but could help a bit offensively. Though after 81-percent in the second half, do they need it???

We'll find out Saturday if a surge in the standings is for real. Cobbers come to town! Not an easy road to move into the race... Cord. at home, at UST, Gustavus at home, then cross-town to Carleton. The stretch of Mac, Hamline and Bethel mixed in there is suddenly very crucial!   Um ya uh-oh.

I'll try to answer your questions in five paragraphs or less.

Yes,  this Ranwick character is back at MAC after transfering to the U then NWC and full circle back to MAC.  I guess he played with Conboy at Minnetonka.  Decent shooter but wasn't overly impressed.

Secondly, Liddell is done and will likely apply for a medical redshirt.

I am back after a bout with the flu and i will offer my views on my team. The Johnnies play another horrible game and dig themselves deeper into the playoff hunt. If they could just win a game on the road they may be one or two clear of the teams chasing the 4th, 5th and 6th spots.  I can't get to the box score on either teams site but it looks like as sumander pointed out the Johnnies shot poorly and the Oles shot the lights out. I have learned from watching that a few of the Johnnies would rather play offense that play hard nosed defense but i don't think that was a factor when the team shoots 80% in a half. The Johnnies need a W in Northfield on Sat. or they are in deep deep Sh*t. Take that and prove me wrong SJU4life!

OAS – thanks for the info.  I'm somewhat surprised to see Ranwick back at Mac, but a lot of people his age & older change their minds about their goals, majors, sports etc.  I think it takes guts to transfer back to your original college after transferring & attending two other schools.  He's a good kid & I hope things work out for him.

If Kietzer can afford to bring him along gradually & if Ranwick works hard, he could be a solid, if not smallish D3 shooting guard.  He's definitely not a PG or a potential Splash, but he could be someone along the lines of Carleton's Brian Sharkey with arguably a better stroke.  He holds the MN state HS record for best 3 pt FGA % in a season -  56% on 45/80 shots.  (In the future, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by his game.) 

Ranwick's shot attempts still pales in comparison to the total # of 3-pt shots Steve Sir of Cretin HS took back in 2001.  Sir took a ridiculous 296 treys & cashed in on nearly 50% (49.3%) of them!

Tough loss with Liddell - he would have helped the Scots out a lot this season...or at least got you closer to a free SJU's t-shirt.
