You would think St. Thomas would have a better SI department considering their athletic presence in the MIAC and the Nation. Why are they always last posting scores and stats to the MIAC and on their website? And you would think they could at least provide live stats as well. I'm not sure why they cannot when every other school in the MIAC can provide live stats.
you can usually find the score on twitter if you're desperate.

Seems to be a long-standing pattern -- clearly posting to Presto is not a priority, and it goes back longer than the current administration.

Another Tommie Win, and when they beat SJU this Sat, hopefully they will be the new number 1 team.  With wins over 2 top 10 teams, they deserve it

from Reusse's column
QuoteSince Friday's statement, the school has been silent, refusing again Wednesday to give an update on Whitmore's long-term status or the plan for the remainder of this basketball season.

There was a good turnout of students -- particularly those that are members of Hamline's other athletic teams.

The student athletes in attendance did not seem interested in commenting on last week's ugly happening. A trackster named Sarah said, "No, sorry,'' and hurried away with two friends when asked her reaction to the reports on what took place in Spokane.
so much for the rest of the story coming out...

Wednesday night observations

*I listened/watched a bit of the Pipers/ Oles game, and even with a short bench, Hamline almost pulled off the win.

*In other news, Macalester broke through the win column for their first conference victory of the year.  Last night they knocked off St. Marys' last night 70-63.  One of the surprising things about this win was that MAC accomplished this without the services of 4 year starter, and all conference selection, senior Pierce Peters.  Apparently Peters resigned from the team over the winter holiday break.  I've not heard any reasons why he quit, but several people have speculated that he was becoming increasingly frustrated with the losing tradition at Macalester.  Too bad. Peters was a fun player to watch.

*Here's one other disappointing item about the MAC SMU game.  File this under the "if a tree falls in a forest" file: there were only 95 fans in attendance.  :'(  ;)

*UST thumped Gustavus 81-60.  What was even more surprising was the rebounding margin. The Tommies nearly doubled up the Gusties on the boards, 35-20. Rebounding and defense used to be the trademark calling cards of Gustavus.

*Nearing the hallway point of the conference season, I think it's an accurate assessment if a person were to say that the MIAC is really down this year.  Real down.

In previous years, there were usually 1-4 teams that could challenge the top teams of the league. Aside from Carleton, no one has come within 20 points of  St. Thomas thus far. For the benefit of the league, St. Thomas, & some purple clad fans, I  hope a team will emerge to challenge & push UST in the 2nd half of the season.  Otherwise, I might be joining those other posters and fans who turn their interest elsewhere.
"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

The challenger to the Tommies may be missing, but I thought the MIAC represented itself pretty well in the non-conference schedule.  Olaf is a prayer away from having a win over Stevens Point.  Augsburg went 5-0, Carleton with a win over a d2, Macalester with 3 non-con wins, Hamline over Whitman.

DP-

I asked my insider at MAC and he said Peters cited "loss of passion" to play for his mid season quitting.  Which is interesting given his statements to Brian Falzarano for a early season article on D3hoops.com

Quote"There's a different atmosphere," said senior Pierce Peters, the Scots' scoring leader at 20.2 points per game. "It was more upperclass-dominated back then. They were used to a different system. And now that we have several years under this new program, there's a lot more experience with the coaching staff. There's more of a camaraderie."

"Coming into this year with nine really exciting guys and guys who can contribute a lot has really helped a lot," Peters said. "It's kind of reenergized the upperclassmen."

How much does 2 hours of paid programing on Ch. 45 cost U$T?  Really...when they can afford to do this it might be time for them to just go away.  U$T-TV...Really???  WTF???  This is not D3!!!

what's more D3- paying for airtime, or refusing to allow free webcasts because you fear losing attendance/money?

Are you watching this?  I know SJU hoops is terrible..the fact they're getting rolled doesn't really bother me.  It's that U$T has decided to go this direction is kind of sad to me.

D3 is not about attendance revenue. Very few, if any D-III programs are rolling in the dough because of gate prices.

This comment is more related to football, as St. John's has resisted video webcasting, fearing the loss of ticket of revenue.  The vast majority of D3 pays to have their games webcast to the viewer for free, while St. John's has turned down Pat and d3football.com from providing a free webcast.

Yes, looked like it might be a good game for the first 10 minutes or so..   Don't know what it costs for a couple hours of programming on 45, I would doubt they would pay as much as other "paid programming", and it's a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the new arena.

Do other D3 programs pay for this type of programming?  Maybe I'm wrong but I'm guessing not many do.

nearly all of them pay thousands for video webcasts, without having Davanni's and other advertisers.
