SUMMIT!!!!!

Quote from: onearmedscot on February 02, 2006, 05:09:40 PM
The scary thing is how the Tommies are trouncing the league but don't have even a single vote for the Top 25.  Does that mean the MIAC blows this year?

oAs

No, it means the voters in one poll do.

Polls (other than those that directly impact playoff invites/seeding) are fun, meaningless wastes of time.

KA-- "yars" is posting on the fly at work when I should be working for "years"  :)

Flip-- thanks....I like to think I am....but basically, I've seen more MIAC games than anyone I've ever met other than Steve Fritz, Jim Smith and maybe their wives.

LC--- why is it that you never seem to make any games but someone is always calling you (inevitably about Hamline's game)? I mean, I know you're afraid to post your picks on the Pick 'Em, but are you afraid of a gym, too?   :) ;D (just yanking yer chain, trying to get you to put your bold predictions where the rest of us do)

CM--- breaking a UST/CAR tie would depend who beats UST to force a tie. It would probably mean both having to end up with 4 losses as CAR lost to SJU & HAM, who are both much higher in the standings than AUG.

PI-- as I said above, at this point, Kalland would get my vote for COY...if necessary, Id leave 2nd and even 3rd blank to pad his margin of victory.....but with 5-6 games left, things could change (if Car were to lose half of it remaining games, for example)

I'm with PI on the one: NFLDers for the top two spots. I can't wait to see what funbb has to say about this :)

Sorry Willie & posters....I would have commented earlier, but ever since I read there was a comment that Koz was even named to ANY type of post season award, my underwear was so tightly bound that my hemroids are conveniently tucked away for life. Can't believe anyone would throw that out there.

The only silver lining in this cloud is now that Koz thinks he can actually coach, he'll choke like a Viking playing in a super bowl. Besides, the STO alums have rallied, generously pooled their hard-earned money and have shipped Koz off on a three week cruise.

Guy Kalland is obviously very deserving.....Coach Smith has turned his team around nicely this year......and, because they are on top, Coach Fritz deserves accolades as well. The next 2 weeks will tell the story.

....but Coach Koz?; holy $*@%, is there any justice out there that would not let this happen?

;)

MM - For some reason I was under the impression Schnettler came from UM-Duluth. My bad. However, I'm standing by my Sweeney statement. I consider it my right, as part of the media, to manipulate the facts to say what I want :)

Show me a past CotY who lost to by far the worst team in the league at home and I'll put Fritz second.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I feel really bad for Coach Siverson and the Cobbers this season. They had a solid team coming into the year with high expectations. When you recruit a class such as Eckhoff, Dixon, Templeton, and Miller and say "wait until they are seniors" for three years and that never happens, is just too bad.

Lets also say our prayers for Nate Ohme. He has officially cracked the 300 pound barrier and works at a local hair salon after graduating from Concordia. I heard he gives great perms though!

Drake, Didn't know the Star Tribune was monitoring this board! Saw a blurb in this mornings paper about Steve Sir leading the  Big Sky in 3's per game and 3 pt %.

With the UST/SJU game looming. Question for all you coaches and wannabe coaches. What kind of game plan do you devise to beat ( maybe more appropriately, stay in the game) with the Tommies.

I have only seen the Tommies play once. They looked awfully tough the first time the teams played. Just wondering if they have an Achilles heal and what it might be.

Hey sumander nice to see your ugly mug posting again!!

I think the Johnnies are going to focus the ball inside tomorrow. The will try and go from the outside in but i have a feeling that an early deficit could get them off their game early. If UST gets up double digits early it could turn into a three point shooting contest between Ohme, Leiser and Westman. Could be tough if they get in a shooting contest with Schnettler.

Thanks Watchmen I missed you too!

I was thinking more in terms of how is SJU going to stop UST. Do they bang on Ike with the Schafer's and Foght? Whos do they put on Schnettler etc.

I would attempt to get physical with Ike, keep a body on him and keep him off the boards.  If he doesn't get into his groove early, he usually goes in the bag.

I'd put Nick Lachey, aka Ohme, on Schnettler.

WW-
You're getting to sound like Ruesse there....runor has it you're starting to resemble him in other ways too  :)

I think Hanson won COY when you played but you guys coughed one up (ironically) to a near-basement Auggie team (saved from laast by the coaching geniuses at the time at Ham & SMU)

Actually, UST was half-smart in losing to Augs. Should they lose one of their remaining games and fall into a tie with CAR, they would win the tie-breaker in any reasonable scenario, as CAR lost to SJU & HAM. The only scenario that I can see where CAR would win the tiebreaker is is UST loses to Olaf and Olaf finishes ahead of  both SJU & HAM.

Under that scheme, who do you put on Sweeney? How do you stop Shimek if your post-play is focused on ike?

Give Shimek and Sweeney their shots.  Just stop the prime time scorers in Ike and Schnettler.

And if Luke Vladomirovitch gets in the game, well the Johnnie game plan didn't quite work out.
