In other action, Augsburg avoids the trap game and beats Mac.  Booker, with a cool 19, 8, 7, and 5,  is rounding into form and, in my opinion, is clearly the Player of the Year again.  Leading the league in scoring by over 4 PPG, third in rebounds, tied for third in assists, eighth in steals, fourth in blocks.  He set the bar so high last year that I think we're overlooking how truly dominant he has been again this year.  Not sure how long Carik is out, but mid-season transfer  Jack Sorenson could be in for some big minutes if it is an extended absence.  After scoring a ton of points during his HS career at Lakeville South, he went to prep school for a year, then to a D1 (American), then I believe was at a JUCO in Iowa for the first semester this year before landing with the Auggies.   As I said, he can score, as evidenced by his 17 against the Scots, and if Carik is out, they're going to need it.

You are probably right concerning the POY.. Coplin has been great this year. Jubie has been great and super efficient this year as well and I like to highlight that whenever possible, but it is tough to beat out Coplin. Will be interesting to see how far can take the Auggies in the playoffs this year, he was very close to leading them to road wins over UST and SJU.

No diss on Coplin, who is simply phenomenal.....but I'm not sure I'd call the Augs road game at UST "close" Smitty...I believe the final was 101-60 and 18 players saw 5+ minutes for the Toms.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I wasn't entirely clear, but I was referring to the crazy run he went on in the playoffs last year, when he beat your Tommies in the Shoe ;) He then went and dropped a 40 burger at Sexton in a close loss.

If Augsburg beats Bethel Wednesday, they lock up the threeseed.  Assuming UST and SJU win out, that coin flip will not only be for home court, but also to avoid Booker until the final. I'm guessing that may be a bigger reward than being at home in the final.

That's what i thought you were trying to say but my head was still ringing from the ruckus in Sexton Saturday. Jaysus was that an electric atmosphere

It will be Division III's and Minnesota's loss when we don't have this game anymore. :(

It really is too bad, I need to go to at least one next year. Didn't make one this year..

With that said, at least one of SJU or UST will most likely be hosting for the first weekend, which makes me so happy! Selfishly I would like to see them at UST since that is just a couple miles from my current residence, but I have made the trip up to Collegeville for NCAA games before!

Greek Tragedy

I'm sure SJU will lose to a UMAC team anyway.

Maybe they'll both host if the Central region teams beat each other up enough.

What is the tie breaker to determine which is the higher seed for the playoffs?

The conference removed the point differential tiebreaker to discourage running up the score. In an instance where you have two teams who have split against each other and have beaten everyone else, it will come down to a coin flip.

Point differential in H2H, point differential against 3rd seed, what coach shot a higher FG% in college... anything but a coin flip!!

It's very unlikely both with host - unless NWU loses in the conference tourney and St Johns wins the MIAC.  I don't see the Johnnies jumping to a Top 2 position without it, and geography does not play in St. John's favor.  I could always be wrong - the odd schedule this year is going to mess with bracketing quite a bit.  Very difficult to predict at this juncture.
