SJU FAN!!

If we are cheering for the same team, then why are you bashing one of the players. I think this team is doing great from all players. Hope you understand. Like I said, I am a fan of the Johnnies, I have been following this team for about 6 years now. Just supporting the team I guess. Sorry about getting on you for your post.

I'm not trying to make Paul look bad or say he is a bad player. I am just saying if he only played basketball and went to school then people may see the numbers they expect. I was just pointing out that Henrichs has more things to deal with in his life than the average MIAC basketball player and that may be why his numbers are down.

WARNING......LONG POST

I dont know who you are SJU FAN but i totally agree.  Making excuses for Paul or even bringing up the fact he may have other things on his mind is not right.  Thats his business and when i read that post i didnt agree with it either.  On the same note.... Surprisingly enough i agree with a part of your statement that we are cheering for the same team, but i write/talk on this board more for having good quality discussion about the general game of basketball then to try and talk up just one team.  I try and promote the "REAL" facts and not just what my opinion is unlike you.

Now on this all conference chat with paul......My first choice from SJU like it or not anyone on this board would be Craig Schaefer. He is averaging slightly more points then paul, ONLY 1 less rebound a game then paul and is shooting an incredible 60% from the field.  He isnt flashy or anything but he puts together great games almost everygame for SJU and deserves all conference. If SJU gets 2 players which i think they will if they finish 3rd in conference the second one is up in the air.  Westman is their best offensive weapon game in and game out. Ohme leads the team in intangibles..he may score alot, or make a ton of great passes or both.  He does whatever needs to be done for SJU to win and thats very noble of him. Henrichs  (not the best player on the team) puts up monster rebounding games and can score real well *at times* couple real bad games as we saw in an earlier post.  Ive noticed that they are starting to use Brady at the 4 for defense, i think the coaches are realizing he may be one of the worst defenders in the miac and brady can help out in that area.  All in all i would prolly give the second award to Westman because i think he is going to be the one to carry the team but....Paul is a senior captain so most coaches im sure will let him have it just because of prior years success.

ps.  sorry its long...tried to make it as short as possible.

last thing... after seeing IKE play last night.....i would have to say he is the MVP.  He played great monday night and i think the tommies would be nothing without him.  He is the most valuable player to the tommies success.  Ive only seen FOrkrud play once and he is my runner up to IKE by listening to everyones posts on here and from what i saw of him.

I agree with a number of the points that sju4life made.  I have had the opportunity now to see every MIAC team play at least one time and if I was a voting member, Mr. Rosefelt from St. Thomas would win the MVP award.

I also think that if Saint John's was to only get one all-conference selection, the nod should go to Craig Shafer.  He has had a tremendous year for the Johnnies and is a far more productive player for them then he was a year ago.  Having said that, I think SJU will ultimately get two players and Mr. Henrichs should be the second.

Now, on to tonight's slate of games.

Macalester @ Carleton - I have no reason to think that the Knights won't continue their amazing winning streak.  The question now becomes will they win the conference?

Saint Mary's @ Saint John's - SMU is headed in the wrong direction and as has been mentioned numerous times by yours truly and other posters, the Cardinals haven' t played well on the road much of this season.  Combine that with a Johnnies team that has a lot of confidence after Saturday's big win and I think you get an SJU victory by 15-20 points.

Augsburg @ Hamline - The Pipers need to continue to get victories to remain in the playoff mix while the Auggies are building for next season.  Hamline takes this one at home.

Gustavus @ Bethel - My choice for "game of the night."  My gut tells that Gustavus will get it done on the road.  Their bench is playing well (Mr. Schmidt and others) and it looks like Mr. DesLauries has had little trouble playing more minutes with Mr. Olson out.

St. Olaf @ St. Thomas - Oles will put up a fight, but in the end the Tommies will win handily.

SJU FAN!!

I do agree with all the points for all the players that are playing well for the johnnies, i think that it will be a surprise who gets conference.

I will have to agree with SJU4LIFE that Ike is a great player and has been doing great things for the tommies. He is a huge contribute to the tommies success...who knows how they would be if they didn't have him with his consistency. He is my vote for MVP.
On the other note, tonights games:

Augsburg @hamline: With Augsburg struggling right now and being on the road i am calling Hamline to take this win.

Mac @ Car: Knights to win this, with the winning streak that they are on, it will be a tough team to beat.

SMU @ SJU: With jonnies win the other night, the confidence is high, but SMU will be coming out strong. SJU to win this one.

St. Olaf @ St. Thomas: St. Thomas is going to hammer with the ball tonight, and make sure that another loss doesn't happen. St. Thomas to win.

Gustavus @ Bethel: Bethel is going to be a tough team tonight, they don't want to loose their spot for the playoffs, I am going to pick them to take the victory at home.

We will continue this all-conference debate in a few weeks, but at this point if SJU got two players, it would be Cornhusker and Heinrichs. Numbers aren't everything when coaches vote. I'm quite sure Heinrichs will get the nod for being a two-time selection, the leader of the third-best team in the league and an almost double-double type player.

Tonight's game vs Auggie scares me a bit for the Pipers. Tech hasn't played well in a while, and the Pipers are inexperienced enought to have a letdown against a bad team.

I guess i hit a slight nerve with the SJU basketball players. Sorry boys I will lay off that topic from now on. I guess i will focus on stats rather than real life facts. My apologies go out to all that i offended.

I'll take oAs in that one. Ike is to tall and Fork is to big and i really don't know who KETO is so that means oAs would win. :D

One of the least talked about teams ont his board is SMU. Those of you that have seen them play, could you tell me a little bit about them and their style of play.

The last two games the Johnnies played, IMO, have been their best of the year. Will it continue or will they overlook SMU thinking about their trip to MAC on Wednesday?

Is there a MIAC Championship Stiftungsfestivities in the plans for this season?  If so, TDT may fly in for an appearance.  I know OAS would love to hang with me again!

QuoteI could make arrangements. I would like this to be done between you and me. I don't want my anonymity to be ruined.
In that case, look for the brown grocery bag behind the third urinal in the men's room next to the concession stand...you'll find your t-shirt there.  Assuming of course MAC finishes worse than 3-1.

Long time no speak oAs.....good to see you are back patrolling the board.

Or we could meet outside by the concession stand. It wouldn't hurt if one person knew who i was.

Needed some alone time to digest that home loss to Hamline.

I think DeRock is going to be very good.  He and Johnson will have a good battle for MVP in a few years.

Smock had a nasty dunk in the game over Hollander but was called for an offensive foul.
